After a lot of disagreement, Elise and Peria finally agreed to stay in the first floor while Weiss went to the second floor.
They were very unwilling to do this but as they were aware of that there was a high chance that they could become a burden for Weiss, they decided to stay put.
This incident that had a very positive effect on both Elise and Peria. After becoming a high level knight in such a short period of time, Elise unknowingly had became very arrogant in her heart.
This was not anything surprising. Her strength increase had been too rapid while her experience gain had remained the same. So her mindset had fallen behind her strength gain.
But after experiencing her weakness here, she had managed to adjust her mindset and had regained her determination and hunger for strength again.
Peria was also in a similar situation. Becoming an official knight was equivalent to being reborn as a superhuman. This was something that Peria had very little hope of achieving before meeting with Weiss.
But now that she had actually become an official knight, Peria was actually feeling as if she was something like a higher being. She would have been in a worse situation if Weiss and Elise, two individuals stronger than her were not with her.
Still this was a thought that she had in the back of her mind. But then she saw the injury that Weiss gotten. This immediately had made her realise and understand that even someone as awesome as Weiss could get hurt.
So, as she was way inferior to her, there was no reason for her to think of herself as a superior being. She might be better than regular humans but there were definitely who knows how many millions of people who were better than her.
So, both of the ladies managed to improve their mindset from this process. This was actually a gain that did not look very significant but it could very well be the best thing that Weiss and her party had gained so far.
...
After making Peria and Elise to stay in a safe room, Weiss alone went to the second floor. As she stepped foot in this floor, nothing happened.
No metal wall popped up to block her way, no metallic puppets came out to attack her, no magical traps were activated in order to capture her.
This was a little surprising but Weiss remained cautious and did not let her guard down. Then finally she started to investigate this floor.
There were quite a few rooms here. And it looked like most of the rooms here were either turned into a library or a storeroom. But unfortunately most of the books of the library and the items of the storeroom were not there anymore.
But the most surprising thing was the lack of any danger. Let alone some deadly traps, there was not even a minor pitfall here on this floor.
There were several reasons why that could be the case. There was a high possibility that as the mysterious Meister person was living in this floor, he had not put any traps here to make himself stay trouble free. Most people would not want to put traps in the area where they stayed for a long time.
This actually made perfect sense. Which made Weiss to relax a little. But still, she decided to wait until checking all the rooms before inviting the other two ladies up.
...
From what she had seen so far, it looked like the mysterious Meister had lived in this castle for a decently long time, at least two or three years. This time could very well even be a decade or so.
As for his reason for his leaving, it was not very clear. There was no clue present here on this floor that could give even the slightest hint regarding this matter.
But one thing was clear. When leaving, the Meister was not in any hurry. He had cleared out all the storeroom quite thoroughly and had left behind only what he considered junks.
Weiss guessed that the main reason why he had even left these junks behind was most probably because he was lacking the space to carry them. From some of the storerooms, even the junks were taken away.
Even though they were junks for the Mysterious Meister, they were not without value to Weiss. So she was glad that at least these items were left behind.
As for the books. If looked like this person was very uncaring regarding them.
Even though there were no books left behind in the shelves of the library, there were various books that Weiss had found in this floor. These books were kept in various hard to notice locations.
This was definitely the most useful things that Weiss had found here. But there was a problem. And that was the language of the books.
Weiss had managed to find a total of 11 books. That was a lot without a doubt. But among those 11, Weiss was capable of reading only 2 of them. Rest of the 9 books were written with some language that Weiss had no idea about.
Deciphering these books was an option but it was going to take quite a bit of time even for Weiss. That was because the language of the books was more complex than the languages which this world used and also because these books only had texts and no picture to assist in the deciphering process.
Still, Weiss was very happy with the gains. This was way more than what she had expected to get.
As for the two books that she was able to read, they both were something that this Meister person had definitely bought from this world.
They were old books from hundreds of years ago regarding the geopolitical situation of this region and the history of this area. That definitely have some value but they were not going to provide Weiss with anything regarding the magus world.
...
The most important two rooms of this second floor were the bedroom of the Meister and the room where he did his experiments. But unfortunately for Weiss, both of these rooms were cleaned very thoroughly and nothing was behind in those two places.
That was a disappointing result as even after doing a very thorough searching, Weiss did not find anything in those two places. Still she was at least able of make sure that there was no danger present in those two rooms too.
So Weiss decided to bring Elise and Peria up to search those rooms too. Who knows, maybe with three pairs of eyes, they would be able to find something that Weiss alone may have overlooked.
So would the three ladies together really be able to find something valuable in those two rooms ?
