The Magical Beast Girl Won't Leave Me Alone!

Chapter 132: Kaza Mauri

Kaza Mauri was an esteemed leader of the Killcounts even from several years prior to this moment, and she was one of the best fighters of her camp.

Of course, her fighting ability was honed due to the harsh nature of the Paradisus Legion, and it was inevitably tripled by Kinen's influence while the balance of the region had been shifted due to the retrieval of Kanshido several years ago. With raging Magical Beasts and illegal Beast Raiders who planned to steal Magical Beast eggs for themselves, as well as looming internal conflict within their own residents, she had to adjust quickly in order to survive.

For most of her time in the second layer, she had been someone who merely looked for ways to escape a troubling situation, and when she was faced with death that neared, she would do whatever it takes to immediately run away from that scene. However, there were consequences for those actions.

Some of her friends, companions and even loved ones were not fortunate enough to get away in time like her, and they perished while Kaza was unable to save them.

With bloodshed engrained into her memories, the only thing that she could think about was her own weakness and not being able to have the strength to fight in order to save the people she cared about.

She could not keep running away, not when she was in a place as dangerous as this where death was at every corner. She had to learn how to fight for her own survival as well as the survival of others.

Thus, Kaza Mauri would train. Rigorously, and without fail.

She cursed her own previous weakness, and vowed to continue getting stronger while she forced herself to move into the front lines, experiencing the harsh reality of what she had to go against almost daily in scouting and defence missions.

Time passed, and Kaza was slowly gaining a large and good reputation as her fighting ability and survival instincts continued to increase.

She began to move up the ranks within her own people who praised her, but at the same time, she was now faced with bigger and harsher responsibilities. Even so, she continued to face them head on, with the goal of being so strong that nobody has to fear ever again once she was by their side.

Finally, after years gone by, Kaza Mauri was at the stage where she longed for an equal.

She was now regarded as the one person who was too strong to defeat as she finally became someone who had no trouble being able to save those who were close to her. She thwarted almost every Magical Beast attack, and when the civil war between the residents of the Paradisus Legion began, her influence was so strong that there was a peace treaty among them as they decided to split into two groups with differing ideals- the Dalquestis and the Killcounts, instead of continuing the fighting amongst themselves. She also quickly destroyed and captured many Magical Beast Raiders who tried to enter the second layer in order to hoard Magical Beast eggs for themselves, and she was soon the only person who rightfully qualified to become the uncontested leader of the Killcounts.

Somehow, she was now someone who yearned for someone who could contest her, someone who could give her a challenge. Everything now became stagnant and boring, and she was indignant at the fact that everything was now so easy.

…Until that fateful day when she had received a report while taking in new captors that a visitor had incredibly killed her own captors who were from the Dalquestis camp.

That person had obliterated one of the high chiefs while freeing some of her co-workers, and the death tally from the Killcounts' neighbors was up to ten, from just one person, something that was impossible to conceive.

That person was-

--Jolene Aurora, who was told to have supernatural movement and an unnatural fighting ability.

She, along with her companions, were now on the run and possibly headed to the third layer.

As if excitement began to bloom in her dull heart once more, Kaza instantly took on the responsibility of sending out a manhunt that included herself in order to capture Jolene. She wanted to see and experience just who this visitor was with her own eyes.

However, just as she was about to begin….

Her detection of mana flow had been disrupted as she turned to face the return of the legendary Kanshido in the mindspace of a new visitor who had been taken to their camp.

--Liohime Kitagami had also arrived, and only about an hour later, he had managed to escape her own attacks and leave the compound.

What an interesting duo, she thought. Liohime and Jolene, the escape artist and the slaughterer.

Finally, things were getting interesting.

She wanted to fight them herself.

She wanted to draw out every single fighting move that they had inside of them when they fought.

She wanted to experience the thrill of feeling death approaching, just to feel something once again.

She did not want to be disappointed, and she did not want to be bored.

--Unfortunately, that feeling was now beginning to creep in as she fought Jolene Aurora here and now. Despite merely defending herself, she was able to stop almost every incoming attack without breaking much of a sweat, and she was getting tired of the easy predictions of Jolene's slashes.

However, she could not give up on her opponent yet. After all…

Jolene had not yet fought with the feeling of her life slowly coming to an end yet.

Thus, in order to reel out all of her adversary's full potential, Kaza Mauri, who sensed Kanshido's mana flow in her proximity, would thoroughly break Jolene Aurora, in order to experience her full strength, and then-

She would kill her with her needs being filled, and then destroy Liohime Kitagami next.

…Just to feel something again.
