Godfire: The Split Soul

Chapter 118: Arise

Pleading voices echoed in sharp tones that shook the legs of the chair beside them, while they hit their foreheads on the hardened ground, almost as if wanting to break their skulls free.

At the front to which their bows were directed, Lord Osai hovered in the air, his face shimmering with great density that seemed to be sucking the oxygen in the room.

His blue eyes glowed violently, and their glow seeped out of the tinted glasses and stretched onto the street like spiritual beings.

The two wings at his back flapped slowly, bouncing the air in a pressurized nature that made tiny dust particles and the sheets on the large table float in the air.

The moment he saw one of the boys smiling while bowing beside a lady wearing a long black robe, Lord Osai's eyes glowed vigorously, intensifying the already pressurized air.

Within a twinkle of an eye, the seven-year-old boy's yellow eyes opened wide, followed by a gurgling sound that erupted from his opened throat.

Blood trickled down his eye sockets, and as they snaked down his cheeks to his chin, a sharp wind flew by his neck, slicing through his skin like an invincible blade.

In an instant, the yellow eyes began to roll like a ball in the eye sockets, and when it stopped, the head fell off the body and slammed on the ground with a soft crashing sound. "PAM!"

The lady wearing the black robe's jaw tightened, while her long black fingernails pierced through the cemented ground, yet she couldn't turn toward the direction of the headless boy.

Marcus's chest heaved like a raging sea, bouncing in his chest while his mind reeled as sweat snaked down his temple.

The tension in the room kept on increasing as if a meteorite had fallen on the roof.

Outside the building, all the men holding the AK-47s that had neared the building fell on their knees and cried for help when they saw the glowing eyes of Lord Osai through the transparent mirror.

The branches of the orange tree at the side of the glassful building shook, letting the ripped and unripe oranges fall from their place and slam on the ground.

Yellow leaves spun from the canopy of the tree, floated high in the air, and landed in mud at the back of a building beside the walls of Gorg City.

As the mud sucked the leaf completely, a bubbling sound erupted from the mud, bloated, and blasted on the human skeleton in a black uniform leaning at the side of the wall, and still holding an AK-47.

Two hours after the mud sucked the yellow leaf, crows spun at the front of the Gorg City's wall like wildfire, crying heavily and tilting their gazes at the dead men leaning at the top section of the wall.

Meanwhile, as the sun shone bright on the roofs of the Western Temple, footsteps echoed at the large courtyard at the front of the entrance, as a group of monks in wine-colored outfits moved out of the entrance.

Silver-colored light flashed on the side of the door as the rays of the sun fell on the long rods held by each one of the monks.

At the center of the courtyard, the white-haired and bearded man, serving as the leader of the Radiant Palm Cult, turned toward the direction of the junction where the stairs were and sighed.

"Won't the Shadow Cult join in as we bury the dead boy's sister?" he said while stroking through his beard with his right-hand fingers.

He shook his head as a silver glow gleamed from the fence at the side of the stairs.

At that same time, all the leaders and some members of Whispering Wind walked, descending from the mountain at the west side of the temple.

Among them, Jude walked, holding two sets of flowers, while staring and following the direction his masters took.

Around the base of the grouped flowers held like a baby, a name was written boldly on a white cloth that had been wrapped around the base of the flowers: Clara, and Kai.

As they exited through their star-shaped door, long shadows stretched behind them as the rays of the sun fell on them.

Immediately they reached and joined in with the Radiant Palm leader standing at the center of the courtyard, Jude saw seven members of the Iron Body Cult also stopping at the center.

"…we are here to honor the dead boy's sister,"

"…it's good you all came, now let's wait and see if some of the members of the Shadow Cult will join us."

"…how will they join, if their time is different?"

"…for today, this particular day of the seventh month, their time gets in line with the world."

Hearing the Radiant Palm leader's final claim, Jude's expression changed.

'How is that possible?' Jude folded his arms and stared at the direction of the stairs while his mind reeled with some possibilities he could think of.

Meanwhile, at the top of the stairs, tornado-like air gushed out, blasting the bamboo leaves that had scattered around and beneath the fence itself.

All the leaves pattered sideways, almost as if giving way for a divine presence that the three cults weren't ready to meet.

Meanwhile, at the center of the stairs, Yung Mai, Jack, and the boy Kai walked, stepping on the steps in the same leg movement, as if they had practiced this over and over.

Yung Mai and Jack walked freely, but Kai, the only slightly skinny and young one, held onto roses that glowed whenever they touched the sun's rays.

His breath came in ragged the moment he saw Yung Mai and Jack stop at the top of the stairs.

When Kai reached the top and stopped as well, leaves darted toward him and spun around him in a ring-like form.

At that instant, all the branches of the trees at the sides, corners, and even those that were distant began to shake as if an earthquake had struck the earth itself.

Strangely, all the branches moved in the same rhythm with Kai's breathing, rising and falling, while their leaves flew toward the direction of the sea.

The waves of the sea moved strangely, pushing the fishermen's boats and sending them to the shore at great speed, almost as if a tsunami was about to strike.
