Godfire: The Split Soul

Chapter 131: The Enemy That Destroyed My Life

"Not so fast," a loud voice echoed from behind Kai, followed by a kick that sent him flying face-forward.

A loud metal crashing sound erupted the moment Kai's body slammed into the front of the building without a door.

Leaves and dust swirled up around him like fire, stinging into his eyes and mouth.

"Oouch," Kai muttered under his breath as he pushed himself up. He brushed the dust from his chest and his black trousers.

His expression changed from anger to shock the moment he raised his head and saw another Yung Mai closing in.

At that instant, the old Yung Mai he'd sliced the sword at his waist blasted into smoke that tilted toward the one closing in on Kai.

"HOW?!" Kai's eyes widened as he screamed in shock.

The sword held tightly under Kai's grip trembled the moment he tried to tighten his grip on it.

"Never let your enemy's ability shock you." A sharp voice and wind flew across Kai's cheeks, sending him flying to his left side and crashing to the ground.

When he strengthened himself up, pain surged in his skull, extremely painful; he felt as if a hand was pushing his skin inside.

"Don't stand there and watch me," from a far distance in Kai's direction, Yung Mai screamed and clapped his hands together.

A loud sonic wave was sent toward Kai's direction.

Kai raised the sword, used it to block the sonic wave, yet the force the sonic wave carried pushed him.

Kai's boots skittered across the ground, igniting sparks as the two-inch metal plate at the back of the boots screeched across the gravel.

Blood seeped out of Kai's lips and spilled in the air the moment his back slammed against the edge of the building behind him.

He gasped once, twice, then wiped the blood from his lips with the back of his left palm.

A sudden wind blew, raising the long strands of hair covering his face.

'Wasn't he the one I just sliced the sword across his face?'

'What kind of power is that?'

'Nah, I need to change the way I throw my strike.'

Thoughts reeled in Kai's mind as he kept a steady gaze at Yung Mai.

After all the thoughts died down, a breeze erupted from Kai's mouth as soon as he closed his eyes and exhaled.

Cracking his eyes open, a thrumming sound rang around him as he stretched his right arm at his side, letting the sweat and blood streaking on the sword spill.

His chest hummed, followed by a bone-cracking sound as he clenched his fist.

Kai moved his left arm forward, almost as if holding an invisible shield, then dashed forward.

Dust and leaves floated from wherever his boots slammed. And when he reached Yung Mai's side, Kai swung the sword countless times, letting a thousand sssh sounds echo.

A smile tore on his face as he saw Yung Mai move, dodging the strikes that he thought would be blocked.

The sun shining wildly above them dimmed, casting long shadows on the ground on which Kai and Yung Mai moved hastily.

At a far distance from where Kai and Yung Mai kept on training nonstop, the large courtyard shook as boots slammed hard on its surface.

At the front of the bridge leading to the meditation chamber, Jack and a few disciples of the Shadow Cult stood there, practicing the horse stance.

Water-dropping sounds echoed as their vibrations were sent into the pool of water whenever their boots raised and hit the ground.

Sweat fell, but rose instantly and joined the twenty-man queue.

At the front of the half-moon arc, at a far distance behind Jack and the disciples, a clicking sound echoed, followed by a speeding wind.

A five-inch rod drenched in red liquid flew downward, appearing as it descended the stairs, as the force of the wind increased.

At the top of the stairs, countless Radiant Palm disciples stood at the side of the fence, staring at the fog that had covered the stairs.

They turned confused glances at each other, their faces drenched with questions only those who'd been in the discipleship for a longer period could answer.

"What is beneath the stairs?" A short boy between the ages of twenty and twenty-five turned sideways.

Beside him, a man between the ages of twenty-five and thirty stood there, staring at the fog with an expression that seemed indescribable.

"Senior SK, what is there?" all the fifteen-group young men in the group turned toward the only one with his right arm tied to his chest.

SK closed his eyes and sighed. "Monsters." He cracked his eyes open and clenched his jaw.

There, memories of him bullying a boy six years back struck his mind, followed by another memory that cast tears from his eyes.

A strong gust of air escaped from his mouth as he screamed in his mind the moment he saw the same boy he bullied, breaking his right arm beyond repair.

A sudden wind blew against his twisted, locked arm, igniting pain in his bones.

He turned and moved out of the group of new disciples and stopped at the front of the meditation chamber.

Seeing his senior brother standing in the far distance, waving at him, SK shook his head, sighed, and then took a step forward.

Bamboo leaves spun around him, falling at all the places his foot stamped in a way that made him look as if he were a god to the leaves.

At the front of the temple's entrance, leaves spiraled in groups of circles on the large courtyard as the moon's rays shone in between them.

Long shadows stretched a few meters away from the closed, huge gate of the temple, tilting on the wall as if climbing.

Clicking sounds echoed in the groups of bamboo that were five meters away from the walls as their long sticks danced with the rhythm of the wind.

A rumbling and wood-cracking sound erupted as a car's headlight surged forward, letting the yellow bodies of the bamboo shimmer.

A wood-cracking and tyre-rumbling sound erupted as the black Mercedes stopped at the front of the closed gate of the temple.
