Godfire: The Split Soul

Chapter 141: The Chaos Was Never Meant to Come Upon You

Deafening blasts echoed as Jude's body, held by the neck by Wang's right arm, slammed countless times on the ground.

The ground beneath his body collapsed inward as large spiderwebbed lines etched into the earth like the signature of an earthquake.

Jude's body convulsed, then turned limp as blood sprayed out of every hole on his body.

His inner skin glittered as the sun's rays shone on it through the wounds that were appearing in an unstoppable sequence.

Faces flashed in his eyes as his vision turned bloody. His fingers twitched, trying to close around something that wasn't there.

'I should've gone with him as Master Hu ordered me to.' The thought reeled in his mind over and over again, until another blood prayer from his nose and mouth.

Wang's grin faltered the moment Jude's eyes blinked.

Surprisingly, he crashed on the ground with a softer punch after a storm-like air detached him from Wang's grip.

Cough. Cough.

A mixture of blood and water sprayed out of his mouth and eyes as his body tilted sideways.

Through his fading vision, Jude saw a man holding a silver spear, fighting vigorously against Wang.

Away from Jude's fallen body, the battlefield trembled.

Cracks appeared on the ground as Wang's boots skittered as he got pushed backward by a heavy punch from Jack.

Wang's smile faded the moment he wiped his left palm on his lip and saw blood on his fingers.

"You!" he screamed, then dashed forward at great speed.

The long sword fixed at his back flew upward the moment his blow got blocked by the silver spear.

As if having a mind of its own, the flying sword dived toward Jack. It slammed countless times on the spear, but none of its slices struck Jack's body.

The sword stumbled back and paused in Wang's right hand after a gust of wind erupted from the tip of the spear.

Spiraling dust emerged from their sides, raising the tips of their clothes—the black-and-white outfit Jack wore, and the dark green military outfit Wang wore—upward.

Wang stood there panting, gasping heavily for air, yet Jack didn't.

He simply stood there, his face shimmering with rage so much that even the sweat snaking down his forehead evaporated when it reached his chin.

"You dare bring chaos to our temple?!" The dust spiraling between the two shot forward like a sword and carved a hole in the ground beside Wang.

Wang shook his head and brushed his left palm across his face. "The chaos was never meant to come upon you."

"But," Wang tightened his grip on the sword, brushed his left palm across his hair, then squinted, letting his eyes glare in a death stare.

"You called it upon yourself the very day you accepted that kid." Wang sliced the sword upward, letting it slice through the air with a whip sound as he dashed forward.

He swung the sword to the left, right, below, and upward, but none of the strikes touched Jack's skin.

Jack's spear moved on its own and blocked the strikes, then pushed both the sword and its bearer backward at great speed.

A tree that was regenerating itself blasted apart when Wang and the sword slammed into its top branches.

After the green and thread-like lines rained on Wang, he held the handle of the sword tightly, raised it upward, and slammed it into the ground.

CRUNCH!

Wang's fingers began to twitch the moment he spread his arms sideways.

Suddenly, the sky began to change as dark clouds appeared from nowhere and hovered above where Wang stood.

"I never wanted to fight you," Wang slammed his right fist on the ground as he moved forward slowly. His tongue licked the blood from his lips and curled back into his mouth.

"But I've got no choice, since you've made me angry." The ground beneath his boot darkened after his spit touched it.

From Jack's position, Wang's new appearance looked almost pitiful.

At a distance from him, Jack stood there, unnervingly still, as if Wang's new appearance was just that of a puppet.

"Hahaha…"

Jack's eyes glowed with a darker brown fury as he loosened his grip on the spear.

The spear, which should have fallen to the ground, hovered in the air. It hummed with the frantic beat of Jack's laughter, then folded into a spring of silver water.

In a blink, it flew and circled Jack's left wrist. After two rounds of spiraling, the silver water changed and turned into twelve silver-colored beads.

Jack's eyes closed for a second, then cracked open with a soft inhale and exhale.

When Jack took his first step, all the metals, dust, and broken wood gave way, as if he were a god in disguise.

At hawk's speed, Jack and Wang dashed forward, the tips of their outfits flaring like flames behind them.

A blinding light emerged and brightened the entire western part of Westeros the moment the tips of their fingers touched each other.

Trees that were far from them jolted from their comfort zone, their roots darkening and dying the moment they slammed into the ground.

When the blinding light convulsed inward, Jack stood there, blood tracing down his forehead.

And in front of him, heavy loads of blood kept oozing out of Wang's shoulder, where his left arm should have been.

"YOU!" Wang pointed his remaining right arm at Jack, then crashed to his knees.

Jack moved.

A speeding wind shot forward as he dashed toward Wang; Jim countered.

Jim slammed his left shoulder into Jack's chest. The push, which should have just pushed Jack backward, sent him flying thirty meters away.

Far from where Jack slammed into the ground, two metallic red-hot rods shot upward.

At another edge of the chaos, eyes turned skyward.

"What's that?" Lena tilted her head upward, covered her face, and stared at the blinking objects flying toward them.

Seconds after she spotted them, her eyes opened wide.

Both reddened rods hummed in the air immediately after Yung Mai grabbed them over Lena and Jinx's heads.

Sweat beaded on Lena's face as evaporated air gushed from the burning surfaces of the rods.

"Wait here," Yung Mai said, pointing for the three people behind him to find shelter under the front of the only building that seemed to be standing amidst the chaos.

When Yung Mai turned after he noticed they were safe, the strands of air covering Kai's face parted as a bone-crackling sound echoed around his clenched knuckles.
