Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Eroge

Chapter 99: The Hidden Catacombs [ 1 ]

I adjusted my clothes.

On the other hand, Clementine put the necklace and hairpin on, finally getting ready.

Sadly, she woke up before me, so I couldn't see anything.

But oh well...

At least we are a couple now.

"We have around three more days until Rio submits our last report. I'm thinking we take on a simpler mission this time."

She tilted her head.

"Like what?"

"Escorting someone, maybe?"

Though, it seemed like she didn't believe me.

"It sounds to me like there's some particular location you want to visit."

And she wasn't wrong.

It's been nearly half a year since I got to this world.

Which means around three months passed in the canon timeline.

Around this time, the Future Academy's Special Class, and two other academies, were going to go on a joint expedition into the catacombs.

I had no idea how the Catacombs came to be or where they came from, except for the fact that they apparently opened nearly four months after the game began.

When I told everything to Clementine, she fell into thought for a moment.

"Can't we just fly over there and loot it before their expedition?"

I wish.

"I tried doing that in the game a couple of times. There's a floor we can't enter because there needs to be at least 30 people present."

It was a stupid mechanic.

But it was set in place so the main story could go as planned.

"Amon?"

I turned to her.

Just then, her entire body began glowing silver.

She slowly walked toward our room, and then phased through the wall.

When she came back out and returned her body to normal, she flashed a smile.

"I can phase into that level you were talking about and open it from the inside."

"..."

I forgot all about this ability of hers.

That's how she escaped Aldraazan, after all.

That changes things a lot.

We don't need to escort one of the cadets, and we don't need to be beside nearly 60 people.

We can just get in, get all the valuable loot, and get out.

"Clementine... You're a genius."

She puffed out her chest victoriously.

"Of course I am. But what exactly are we looking for down there?"

"A weapon, a protection charm, and lastly, three special ability cores."

Her eyes immediately widened.

Ability cores weren't that common in this world, so most people have never heard about them.

But after I told her about everything, she recognized just how important they were.

And for there to be three...

"Wow... We're leaving right away, then."

"Already?"

She nodded at me repeatedly.

"If we laze around for too long, we won't have anything left. Plus, I've barely done anything the whole week except..."

Coughing to hide her embarrassment, she continued, "Let's just go already. I'm bored."

I guess we should.

I wish I could practice my Atomic Telekinesis a little bit more.

Though I was sure I could increase my body's durability by five times now.

Once I can increase it by 50 times, I'll start learning Atomic Destabilization.

And that one, I'll be able to actively use in combat.

So with that in mind, the two of us stepped out of our house, changed our appearances to Mikael and Evangeline, before finally flying off.

After nearly an hour, we made it.

The catacombs were in the forest in the westernmost part of the Elodrenia continent.

A forest called the Spirit Forest.

In truth, this place got its name because drunk people used to come here and howl, and some idiots thought the fairies were calling.

Anyhow, I glanced around at the completely normal forest until, finally, I spotted a pair of green bricks hidden under some moss.

"There it is."

At my words, Clementine and I descended and carefully inspected the bricks.

As we followed the bricks, we eventually found a green staircase leading downward.

We were quite deep in the forest, but before we could make our move, we both halted.

Just then, footsteps resounded as five figures wearing white robes emerged from the other side of the forest.

All of them had white hair and completely white eyes.

I recognized them immediately.

But these people...

They don't appear until the later stages of the game.

So what are they doing here?

I signaled Clementine to remain quiet as I did the same.

Soon enough, those figures stopped in front of the stairs and glanced around.

I felt their energies scanning the surroundings.

I surrounded Clementine and myself in Telekinesis, and thankfully, I managed to make the searching energy pass by my Telekinetic barrier without noticing us.

The five figures nodded to themselves and, after a few more checks, descended into the catacombs.

I waited a few minutes and then released my Telekinesis.

Clementine met my gaze.

"Do you know them?"

"I do. They're from one of the strongest demon-worshipping organizations, the Evangelists."

Pointing at the staircase, I said, "Those five were Reapers. They are the lowest rank in that organization, and their only use is to either kill someone and take their soul, or retrieve something important."

Both of us could tell they were going there to retrieve something important.

But what could it be?

Nothing was touched in the game.

...Unless it was?

Maybe they left stuff for the main character to find and actually took off with something valuable?

"Hmm... Souls, you said?"

"Yes. They all practice a technique where they reap the soul of someone and then consume it to get stronger."

There was much more to it, as there were plenty of risks and other things involved.

But that wasn't important right now.

"I'm not sure about you and them," I said honestly. "On one hand, I've only seen them consume the souls of alive people. Your Soul Weapons are... I'm not sure."

She nodded.

"That's what I was worried about as well... But I promise, I'll be careful."

Seeing that goofy smile on her face, I pinched her cheek and then stood up, slowly approaching the staircase.

And when Clementine arrived beside me with a pout, the two of us began to descend.
