Chapter 32: WHY SHOULD WE FIGHT?

Darius stood behind me waiting for my response while I was on my knees trying to get back up after he kicked me down. "Well, big brother I have to come to see you before I leave and speak to father afterward," he said. I was contemplating my next course of action, thinking it through. Darius himself was quite patient.

Now that I recall the events, time didn't stop for both of us. Everyone was still fighting only Tarius and Veronica stopped to witness what was to happen to me. I was anticipating my death or so I thought.

"Get up and face me," Darius commanded. "I am not here to kill you for I shall die once I do."

I was puzzled at the fact that he didn't take his opportunity against me. He was being too reasonable for what his concerned. Normally he would attack me, and we would end up giving each other fatal wounds that could have ended both our lives. Though I would be the one at fault for initiate such quarrels.

He was not going to do anything but stand there and wait and I did not want to waste any more time since we were still in the middle of a battle. I arose from my knees on to my feet and faced the one who came to see his elder brother.

There he stood, still as a statue, grinning with his sharp fanglike teeth, holding a new weapon, a scythe, which was black with streaks of purple along the weapon, hold by his hand whilst the blade was suspended above the ground by a few centimetres. He released some of his power around himself for everyone to feel.

I was fighting my mouth from forming a smirk and showing him my exhilaration of seeing him even though we are on opposite sides of this battle. He looked me dead in the eyes and ready to fight.

Darius, my little brother, had always felt overshadowed though I had no intent of doing so I was the more favoured one. My father preferred me over him for very important roles while he had nothing much to do. He began loathing me and I sensed it from him as well. He was very bad at hiding his emotions but now I can't tell his emotions, all I can see is his devilish smile.

"Well, big brother, miss me?" Darius said.

"I thought you would never ask such a question. I am simple delighted to see you again." I replied.

Through the chaos the brothers began their battle, and it was not one that Veronica and Tarius wanted to take place. 'I failed you mother. I couldn't stop him from reuniting with his brother, and now all we can do is hope that he doesn't join him again.' Tarius said under his breath.

Though Veronica didn't show it she felt the same fear as Tarius.

They had blinked once, and the two brothers vanished to be found hovering above the ground with their wings out and accomplishing their function. Ravedos' sword Titan Slayer was out, and he grasped incredibly tightly, as though he knew this fight were his final fight.

The brothers clashed up in the air which then created such a disturbance that everyone on the ground was pushed back from away from them both. It was fierce as their blades sparked as they had contacted with one another.

Darius had an upper hand, as his scythe was longer and had better reach forcing Ravedos to change his fighting style making himself act quicker and moving his body a lot more loosely than a stiff rock.

Meanwhile on the ground Donny, had been tackled by a demon. His quick reaction was to stab it in the head and though it was effective it equally futile since the demon did not care of the pain inflicted on it, for it wanted to kill.

Seeing this Marie directed her focus toward Donny's assailant and let go of her arrow. It flew across with a spin that tore through the demon's skin resulting in it shrieking so loudly that it harmed Donny's ears. He tried to ignore the deafening sound of the demon's shriek and stabbed right above the head between the horns killing it.

Little Marie know that costed her as one of the demons she was to focus on swooped in and took. She struggled as they were airborne. The demon then bit on her neck, inflicting pain on her forcing her to scream. Ravedos heard her and rushed to help her however Darius was not going to let that happen for he didn't want any interference.

So, he tried to stop Ravedos by flying after him but was hit down to the ground by Tarius. They crashed and Tarius quickly rose up to attack Darius. He was stopped by the demon in question, and instead of killing him he made Tarius suffer by first breaking the angel's arm and when he lost his strength to hold Darius down, Darius picked Tarius up by his neck slowly squeezing it.

Veronica saw this and hurried to his side and attacked Darius. She succeeded in doing so since he was not focused on her. When he let go, Tarius had a moment to breath before joining Veronica to fight him. Darius no chance when both angels fought him at once overwhelming the demon -they quite literally jumped him together-. Ragartha and Sorrus who were immobilised came back to their senses and saw both angels fighting Darius.

They simultaneous dashed toward them bloodthirsty and in the mood to kill. Ravedos saved Marie from the demon and healed her injury. She then pointed out that Darius was fighting Veronica and Tarius and alerted Ravedos that two demons were about to kill them. With no time to think he rushed toward them. He hit Sorrus' sword deflecting it from Tarius and he used the momentum he had to close line Ragartha foiling her plan and hit her into the ground.

Sorrus swung his sword aiming for Ravedos's head, but he caught his arm and stabbed him through the gut, impaling him. In that moment Ravedos grabbed the side of his head with his left hand, pushed away his sword carried by his arm away from himself and grabbed his shoulder with his right hand and pushed his head and shoulder apart. Sorrus ripped in half, but Ravedos stopped midway and ripped Sorrus' head from his body.

His corpse fell to the ground Ravedos grabbed his sword from his body, spun and decapitated Ragartha. He wanted to catch his breath but heard Tarius scream out, "NOOO!" He then turned to witness Veronica killed by Darius. He drove his scythe through her head from the bottom of the head through the top. He lifted her up, then threw her away.

This angered Ravedos, making him fight irrationally with only just raw power. Darius grinned at his brother knowing that this is one of the best ways to torment him than other ways. He swung his scythe and stabbed Tarius in his leg. The remaining angel screamed in pain.
