Six hours, I spent six fucking hours running away from them. I was not scared I was strategic with what I was doing. Keeping them far from my team and anyone I knew. If I could get them all in one place, I would handle them all.
It was a clear plan in my mind, and it was working. I kept to the roofs of the city and jumped from building to building. They tried flanking me at random to get me to make a mistake, they were cunning. However, I had to keep my balance and focus on what I was doing.
There were seven after me. All wanting to avenge their fallen, but the voice in my head – a feminine voice I had never heard before – screamed out 'KILL THEM OR DIE!' repetitively and it was annoying, but I couldn't silence it.
Down in the beautifully lit streets of the city were the residents going about their nightly routine, but it went awry. Some had dealings with demons in the city, – the women who sold their bodies for sex – but were about to be violated by them instead. The women were two persons and were defenceless. I couldn't let it slide, so, I rushed down to help them.
"Hehe!" they laughed as they tore off their clothes. I grasped Titan Slayer in my hand, before they put their hands on them, their heads flew off in one slash. Two out of three heads rolled, the third was standing away cock in his hand. He tried fleeing away, but I shot him in the head as he ran away.
The women were naked and terrified. I looked around the street and found some clothes laying around – the demons didn't need them anymore – but I couldn't stick around. Before they could get up to thank me, I jumped up a nearby building continued with my plan.
It made me feel a lot better, but that wasn't what made me feel that way it was something else. The freedom felt exhilarating and give me a reason to not follow norms that I bound myself to. No longer feeling restricted even with my power.
Then this feeling of weakness crept up on, and I knew who it was, Donartha was nearby. I slid on the roof to stop myself as Donartha's naginata flew past me and stuck in the roof. I looked at the angel, flying with her amazing wings spread out in the air flapping graciously to keep her in the air.
"That should've killed you!" Donartha snapped.
I darted forward and of to another roof. She only became a minor inconvenience in my plan. She was swift; after grabbing her weapon she pursued me along with the fallen angels that I couldn't find anymore.
What could've stopped them from pursuing me might have been Donartha, but that wasn't the case. They would stop at nothing to end my life, then why did they suddenly vanish? I soon find out as my question got answered.
As I leapt from another roof, I was ambushed midair and my quick response was to block with Titan Slayer. They had anticipated that I would do such and instead of coming directly from underneath me, they parted and attacked me from all angles. It was the perfect ambush, but I counted in one vector they didn't, Donartha. She swept in killing a few of them allowing me to parry and stab one in the square in the chest.
Falling to the ground I used the fallen angel's body to cushion my fall and I landed safely, crushing the fallen angel under my feet. My fight wasn't over. I looked and noticed it was far enough from everyone else, and it was where I wanted to be the Corporate Sector of the city.
'Great!' I exclaimed in my head.
The fallen angels were up in the air as well as Donartha. They all charge at me and I took my stance; my left foot I slid behind me, bent my right leg, held my blade upside down and placed my left hand lightly on the blade, took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. They closed in on me closed my right eye and held the hilt of my sword tightly in my right hand, opened my eye and began fighting.
The clashing of blades was a sublime sound I haven't heard in years. Cling! there and clang! here, it reignited a fear in me to fight once more. No guns, just my swords. They were persistent and determined but I was fired up. Attack after attack I dodged and parried and every opening that availed itself I took.
Their name became real; they were truly fallen angels and I Donartha was the only one left standing. The angel that wanted revenge for she was murdered by my own hands. She was exhausted, panting, but held her blade firmly. From grace to desperation, she realised that my strength was greater than hers and her effect on me was wearing off faster than she had anticipated.
"Why aren't you weak?" she asked, still panting.
I was puzzled and didn't remain silent. "I beg your pardon. What do you mean weak?" I inquired her.
"You are known by all in the Supreme Deity's realm and have learnt of your weaknesses to certain things. How is it you have become impervious to it?"
"Oh, but you are mistaken Donartha. I may have weaknesses that you have disgracefully used against me, but once I use more of my power my weaknesses become nullified lest it is fairly strong enough to weaken me,"
Her face was twisted into confusion. She did not understand what I had said, or she had understood and wondered how I acquired more strength. She let her guard down and then I dashed toward her with the intent of killing. I swung my blade and stopped it a few centimetres from her neck. Her face turned from confusion to shock the instant she saw how quick I would've killed her.
Her naginata fell out of her hands on to the ground, she then dropped to her feet with no point in living. She had never felt defeat in her life, and it showed. "Kill me!" she cried out. I pulled back my arms and had my blade disappear. I chose to spare her, she may have wanted me dead but she didn't deserve to die a second time.
"Go on and leave, tell Ragartha that you had fulfilled your wish and killed me. You were foolish but I chose not to make the same mistake twice." I told her.
Then she broke down into tears. "I am a disgrace. I don't deserve your mercy and surely, I cannot lie to my superior of actions I had not committed. Why then do you let me live for I tried to execute you out of blind revenge?"
"Because you aren't my enemy. You can leave now, if not I am just going to leave you here,"
She wailed and wept. I had not expected this from a fighter such as herself, then someone slowly clapped behind me, and I turned with my sword back in my hand, only to find Melissa standing there. I relaxed knowing it wasn't another batshit insane angel wanting to kill me. So far, I had saved a corrupted angel, Veronicah, and stopped an angel, Donartha, from falling to my hands. This was not what I had signed up for.
"Congratulations in successfully subduing Donartha and keeping her alive," Melissa spoke cheerily.
"Giving her mercy was only thing I had to do," I told her.
"And you had done it well. Normally you aren't the type to be merciful, last, I remember,"
"I am long left that life behind me,"
"And I realised it when you let yourself get impaled by your own sword in my place. That was when I had fallen for you, yet I didn't know what it was. As for her she is young, hence why you heard her cry. She was hardened to be a warrior; however, it was too early for her,"
"Wouldn't the same be said for all the angels?"
"No, she was the only exception,"
"Why?"
"Only the Supreme Deity, my mother, can tell you that."
"I shall never get my answer then,"
"Very true, but one day we will come together once more. I shall take her back with me and I will try to come back and have that date we didn't get to do,"
"I am looking forward to that,"
She smiled and walked past and she spoke to Donartha, I took my leave. After a while I arrived at door of our base. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. No one answered. I checked the door handle and the door opened. It was unlocked! Why? I walked inside and no one was inside.
Ever since I had left then I hadn't heard back from my team.
