Devil Equinox

Chapter 60: HIDDEN CATALOGUE I

I lay on my bed, my eyes closed, my hands resting on my chest. Deep in thought, reminiscing an event that happened a year ago. Deep in the wild desert island, unnamed because it was never proclaimed by anyone and there is goo reason for that. x

Anyone who dared visit the island sadly didn't return from their conquest to locate and name that island, which of course was a thousand and five hundred kilometres southwest of Downtime City and we some companions who had me in custody were already on our way to investigate the disappearances occurring enroute past the island.

Reports had come in stating that some important persons in the government had gone missing and their last known location was the island.

In a cargo plane with fifty armed men in tactical suits were on the plane along with me in cuffs that I chose not to break out off. I chose to comply when they surrounded me when I got out of Hell via dimensional gate out in Kharma's forest hidden within the heart of that forest. How did they catch me, well, they kept track of the activity of that gate and hid from General Mynde and anyone working for him.

Kevin Gates, the leader of the Spec Ops operators I had to share the same air within the plane, was there that day arresting me on the spot for his company, Secure Corp, a security with hidden agendas and a lot of alibis. "Captain, it's good to see you," Kevin said when he met. All his men who were him, forty in number, already had pointed their specially customized Rain Maker assault rifles equipped with special rounds that can kill demons, and it seemed that it had taken a long time to develop such weapons.

Surrender was the only logical optional I had and the only one that I could do as I didn't have my sword Titan Slayer with me. I gave up my hands in front of him, and he smirked. "Good choice," he said and proceeded to put cuffs on my hands and tightened them around my wrist.

They escorted me to their temporary base in a tent, they had operational communications equipment and on the clock personnel moving in chaotic patterns, but it was perfect. Ordered movement would have disrupted the synchronized movement of each and everyone. They knew where to go and how to get around each other in the chaos making order irrelevant.

Though it was a tent for a base it was large and it covered at least fifty-five square metres. I didn't have the time to make out the length nor the width of the tent, but that didn't stop me from guessing the total area. We went through the base, and they led me into a detainment tent, fully sealed off from the rest of the environment. It was used decontaminate anyone who went into the dimensional gate to get to Hell, since in there the atmosphere isn't human friendly. They wore hazmat suits to protect themselves from the atmosphere or so they thought, but in Hell it gets extremely hot and they needed heat resistant suits, but they didn't spend too long in there.

Sitting in the detainment tent, I analysed how they operated and I was in there for several hours and the sun was further west in the sky cast golden rays above the horizon. Kevin came by and entered the tent while I still had my restraints on.

"You need something to eat?" he asked but I remained silent. He rested his hands on his sides slightly tilted his down left and sighed. His eyes opened to look at me.

"You really want to do this Captain?" he asked his voice filled with a bit of anger.

"…" I stood with silence. Walked up to him and stood right in front of, "Call me, when you actually want to talk. I am not wasting on your little rouse, do you understand."

His mouth remained closed, his jaw was tensing, and he glared at me. I stood there unfazed and walked back to my sit and rested. "Fuck!" he shouted and stormed out of the tent. "Don't you fucking say a word to me!" he shouted in the distance, yet I couldn't care about it.

Time again flew by for a couple more hours and I was awoken by the sounds of engines drawing nearer to the base out in the forest. Then the vehicles stopped outside and sat up straight on the chair. I couldn't who was there, but I could make out the chatter in the base.

Kevin outside ordered his men to gear and rushed to the sound of stationary vehicles while their engines kept running. I couldn't hear what was going on outside, but the commotion made it clear that the situation was not the best outcome for Kevin. However, there was no conflict taking place. Then one of the men came rushing to the tent, opened it up and stood aside.

To my surprise General Mynde came in along with his men and Kevin lagging. General Mynde smirked and chuckled joyfully, "How the hell did you get yourself into this situation?" he asked me and turned to look at Kevin, and to his dismay he was told to release me since Mynde was taking me from here. "What the fuck do you mean I should let him go?" he asked.

"I thought I was comprehensive with my dialect, asshole. Let. Him. Go. Or do you need it spelled out for you?" Mynde retorted.

"You know his under my custody, right? So, he can't leave," Kevin said.

"Under whose jurisdiction?" Mynde asked.

"Under Secure Corp's jurisdiction since he is trespassing on private land,"

"Private land? This forest ain't for you take, it belongs to this city."

"You don't get the area we in belongs to Secure Corp since it had bought,"

"What do you mean it had bought it?" I asked Kevin. "Isn't it illegal to buy property of the city and/or proclaiming it's yours to begin with?"

"Nah a big corporation can get away with that, and you and your friends cannot stop it," Kevin smiled with a smirk.

"Unfortunately for this imbecile I am still part of the military, and I can include this in my report and have your ass and your employer's ass swarmed by government agents and eventually shutting down whatever operation you have going here or you could give me this man and we could work something out and be on good terms. What about it?" Mynde said.

That is General Mynde right there, he is a good man but sometimes getting a job done doesn't need a good man it needs someone who knows how to pull strings in certain ways to get one's required outcome.

Though I hadn't dwelled much in that memory I had to remind myself why I was here, I awoke and got up out of my bed and continued with the mission at hand.
