The elbow wrapped around my throat trembled. The next moment, it went limp, loosening fully.
Cold air, filled with a strong scent of flowers, finally entered my lungs as my neck healed instantly.
I noticed Alya gasping. Quickly, I rushed to catch her before she could fall face-first on the ground.
The blonde-haired woman fell limply to her knees, desperately trying to breathe in pure shock and terror, her entire body spasming in pain, tears, drool, and snot covering her perfect face.
"Zhenyy!!" The gray-haired man's eyes widened as he shouted on top of his lungs, rushing to her side instantly.
[Undo of Shift (Efficiency 1 —> 2)]
Her condition was much worse than ours. She wasn't a vampire after all. She didn't have our endurance.
My lips parted as I noticed, with [Eye of Sanguine]'s zoom, that her chest was still rising and falling. She was alive even with that much damage to her neck… Though barely.
I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. She is an Arcana user. Remembering how crazy Sue, Jah, or Vanitas were, it didn't seem like that big of a deal.
Alya recovered almost instantly, smiling at me before she leaped away, the smile replacing itself with an expressionless face.
Before I could even blink, she uppercut the crying, like-he-lost-everything figure of the old man in a blur.
He tried to react, trying to hit Alya with a left hook at blinding speeds. Alya couldn't dodge it, but even though nothing like this could harm her, her eyes instinctively shut close. But, they opened soon as no pain she was expecting came.
She blinked as the gray-haired man let out a loud gut-wrenching cry, a long dagger had fully passed through his fist, as blood flowed like a river. She turned to me, my hand that had aimed still raised, as I shook my head to the old man coldly.
"Don't resist."
"…Thank you." Alya blushed with parted lips. Girl, focus on the fight!
She turned back, her face unable to become as expressionless as before.
It was all happening while he was still flying midair from Alya's uppercut. As he was about to touch the ground, Alya appeared before him again, smashing his jaw with a precise, brutal knee strike, making over fifteen teeth fly in bloody arcs.
She didn't stop, catching his falling side body with a slap, catching him on her raised knee. He tried to move before Alya hit him with an elbow to the back of the head that made even me wince.
The gray-haired man was fully immobilized.
He still tried to crawl, but Alya just lifted him by his gray hair in one hand like he was a puppy.
…So hot. There might have been a girl as beautiful as Alya in my previous world, but could she have been as badass as her? I don't think so!
Alya spat on the ground. "Stop moving, or I will smash you on the ground!" she said with a cold smirk.
I felt something bulge in my trousers.
"Cough!"
With a few coughs, I stopped thinking about it, focusing on the current moment.
I was sure the system was gonna give me snarky comments about this for the rest of my life. I cried internally.
He took in hasty breaths, his pupils twisting with hate as he glared at us.
Click
The sound of a revolver's safety lock turning off echoed. The hate soon vanished from the man's eyes, replaced by pleading and a horrified look as he saw me pointing a long, golden revolver towards the barely breathing blonde-haired girl on the ground.
I actually had made up my mind not to kill them. She mentioned Ren, and the way the man ran… My suspicion was growing stronger by the second.
He tried to move, raising his arm towards the girl, before Alya did what she had promised, smashing him on the stone floor with all her strength. Blood blasted from the impact, managing to cover our faces and clothes.
He finally gave up, his body limp as Alya raised him again. He covered his mouth as tears ran freely from his eyes.
I felt bad about it, but the most I could do was leave them alive. They had just tried to kill us after all.
Tham!
My pupils dilated as a man in Mari Swan guard uniform wobbled after hitting my shoulder, looking confused before continuing his walk. No one was able to see us still, it seemed.
There should be a third person if the illusion is still active… I didn't believe they could manage something this strong in the condition they were in.
"Why are you here? Who else is with you?" I asked sternly but in a soft tone. Alya raised his head so he could see me more clearly.
"You killed her…" His entire face was covered with blood from the head injury, his eyes lucid, not even looking at me.
"She's still alive. Answer Luci honestly, and I will heal her." Alya lifted him closer to her, her cold, jewel-like red eyes devoid of any emotion, glowing in the dim lighting.
She can heal people too? My lips parted slightly. It didn't seem like she was lying. I seriously needed to learn all of Alya's abilities somehow… There was no way I could use her abilities to the fullest otherwise. She was packing a lot more muscle than I'd originally thought.
He burst out into hysterical laughter.
"…"
"Like I'd trust some evil kidnappers..." He shook his blood-covered head.
Right. Why would Mari Swan's members help someone sneaking around like this for information like that? They should torture him for that!
Alya was about to smash him on the ground before I raised my hand. She looked at me with a tilted head.
I actually kinda fucked with Ren. If my suspicion was correct, then I didn't want to create unnecessary harm like before to that Mari Swan guard again… Revealing some things wouldn't be a bad idea.
I walked and then leaned closer to him. "This is a disguise." Alya's eyes widened as she looked at me with The fuck are you doing?! eyes. I smiled it off.
I placed my hand on his shoulder. "We are actually… not your enemies." My face revealed not much emotion.
They, on the other hand, made me waste [Undo of Shift]'s cooldown. I just became a hell of a lot more vulnerable because of that. If he still wanted to kill us, I wouldn't go out of my way to help.
