Dimension Master

Chapter 106: 106: Horde of Beasts Pt 1

The storm continued to rage around them, while Drake and his friends remained unconscious. Renn and Ruby stayed hidden, not wanting to be seen.

The three older men continued to laugh as they watched the storm rage.

Several moments passed. The ground rumbled. It got louder the longer they stood in their spot. The surrounding trees rustled, and hundreds of beasts came out of the trees. The bulk of the breast's eyes glowed with a bright purple light. They were all level 5 beasts. Others were bright blue, showing they were Level 4. There were eyes of all colors, but most were of the higher levels. They were there to protect the three boys. It was Renn who had called them. Ruby had backed her up. They had heard the older men speak of destroying the dimension. The boys wanted to prevent it.

The two familiars had connected with the beasts of the dimension, warning them of what was going to happen if they didn't prevent it.

Ruby shrieked softly, but it was loud enough for the horde of beasts to hear. Renn did the same, then showed pictures of what would happen if the three men survived long enough to fulfill their plans.

With understanding, the beast's eyes glowed green, their various colors fading, then changing to green, showing they were now allies to Drake.

Drake didn't know he had new allies; he was still unconscious, along with his friends.

The beasts surrounded the three men, preventing them from doing anything but huddle closer to each other.

The storm raged above, while the beasts inched closer, growling menacingly. Many shrieked loudly; others snorted. Each beast had its own sound.

Rain fell in thick ropes as the beasts came closer to the three men. The packed dirt below quickly soaked up the water, turning it to mud.

Renn and Ruby pressed their heads on Drake, willing the power they were holding for Drake to go back into its owner, but Drake didn't wake up.

Once the power was finally in place, Renn coaxed Drake to awaken.

A flash of green burst through the area. When the light faded, Drake's father and his cohort stood in its spot. "If you harm the beast, the dimension will take your power," Drake Sr. warned with a smile. "Just because you took Drake's power, doesn't mean the beasts aren't still his allies anymore. Since they still are, the rule of harming a familiar or his allies, is breaking the rules of the dimension. You should also know we no longer see you as our fathers. Therefore, what you do does not affect us anymore."

The old dimension master pulled out his staff. One beast quickly grabbed it in its enormous jaws and flung it near Drake. It landed beside him with a thud.

The horde of beasts moved closer, giving the three men less room. They didn't attack, though. They wouldn't. Not until the three men attacked first.

The rain continued to fall, and lightning flashed, striking the ground between the three men, not touching any of the beasts. The dimension was fighting alongside the beasts and the current dimension master and his cohort to deal with the powerful men who had stolen the heir's powers.

Drake lay on the muddy ground, the darkness fading. He found himself in the center of a glowing green light. He felt as if he were in a dream. Beside him lay a Master Staff. He could tell that it wasn't his own. It looked much older.

A glowing green figure made from pure energy stepped forward. It pointed at the staff, motioning for Drake to pick it up. "It's not mine," Drake whispered. His voice saddened by what had happened to him and his friends.

The figure pointed again at the staff, motioning to pick it up. Drake sighed, then bent down to pick up the staff. A soft voice floated through his mind as the old 'dimension master' staff faded into light particles.

{You have received the power of the dimension master.}

{You have regained your own power.}

Drake gasped in shock, realizing what was happening. He knew that the dimension's life-force was getting involved.

"How do my friends get their power back?" Drake whispered. He kept his head bowed, feeling that it was the right thing to do.

The glowing figure pointed at him, then stepped forward, coming inches away from Drake. For the first time, the glowing energy figure spoke. "Receiving the power of the staff has eliminated the power from its owner. Without a dimension master, there is no cohort. Your cohort has regained its power. When you absorbed the staff, it removed all the thieves' artifacts. Your friends have received not only their own power, but that of the thieves as well."

Drake bowed, feeling that it was right to do so. "What do you want me to do about the thieves?"

The figure appeared to smile. He wasn't sure, because there were no features on the energy figure. He could feel in the surrounding atmosphere, like the figure had smiled. "All beasts in the area you are currently at are now your allies. Your familiars have enlisted them to help with the situation. You will need to do very little. The beasts in the area have all chosen to become your allies because of what you had said. You and your cohort will awaken shortly. Their wounds will heal swiftly. The white rain will heal them."

"Thank you," Drake said, then bowed low. "Thank you for healing them."

{All members of your cohort received the power of their counterparts.}

{All members of your cohort have regained their own powers.}

Drake smiled widely before his eyes opened, finding himself being showered with a glowing white rain.

***

Drake's father faced down his own father, who had suddenly gone pale. The staff that was tossed toward Drake had dematerialized into a cloud of light particles.

A soft white cloud appeared above the three boys, then a glowing white rain fell on them, showering them in radiance.

The blood that fell from their wounds faded into nothing as their wounds closed.
