A Bumpy Road to Power

Chapter 134: Little Punk

"Nice shot, nice shot! The famous Caleb in Stillwater County is also a master at billiards!"

After Kian Holden finished speaking, a lackey pulled up a chair, and he sat down confidently.

"Oh, I was wondering who came with such a grand gesture, turns out it's Mr. Holden,"

Dirk Carter laughed.

Then he said to Caleb Ford, "President Ford, let me introduce you to Mr. Kian Holden, the chairman of the Grandlake Group."

After hearing this, Caleb Ford sneered, "Oh, so it's the little punk."

"What's with your tone?"

Kian Holden hadn't moved.

His lackey behind him was already displeased.

He was about to move forward but was held back by Kian Holden.

"Ah, Tiger, no need to get excited. President Caleb here has been in the underworld for many years and is considered an old hand in Stillwater County. Calling me a punk isn't an exaggeration."

After saying that,

He paused and confidently said, "They say the waves behind push the waves in front, and the latter die on the shore. Old hands must also have their dull moments, right?"

Caleb Ford coldly smiled.

The billiard cue rested on his shoulder, both hands hooking it. He glanced around and asked, "Mr. Holden, I'm playing billiards here, why are you bringing all these people in? To liven things up?"

"Hehe, President Ford, it's nothing major, just a business deal I wanted to discuss with you."

"A business deal? Sure, go ahead, what business do you have with me?"

Caleb Ford asked.

Kian Holden crossed his legs and lit a cigarette.

He said, "We're both in real estate, and the pie in Stillwater County is only so big. If you take one more bite, I take one less. But this pie is too sweet, and I want to swallow it whole. What do you say to that?"

"Swallow it whole? Aren't you afraid of choking, Mr. Holden?"

Caleb Ford asked.

Kian Holden chuckled, "I have a big appetite, it's okay. So, I've come to discuss with you if I can have this pie all to myself?"

"Let's hear it, how do you plan to eat it?"

Caleb Ford asked with interest.

Kian Holden blew out a smoke ring and said, "Sell me Apex Gardens, and I'll give you a good price. Furthermore, if Grandlake Group and Apex Group merge with me owning sixty and you forty, not only Stillwater County, but the entire real estate market in Ardmore City will be ours."

"Sixty-forty? I don't think that's fair. I think a ninety-ten split would be more appropriate," Caleb Ford said.

Kian Holden was stunned.

Was he really that savvy?

He laughed, "Not impossible."

"Then there's nothing to discuss, the contract? I can sign immediately. I'll take ninety, you ten. The name should still be Apex Group, right?"

Just as Caleb Ford finished speaking,

the lackey called Tiger couldn't hold it anymore.

Pointing a finger, he rushed towards Caleb Ford, angrily pointing at his face, "Didn't you hear, I've got my brother taking ninety and you ten?"

Caleb Ford's expression was indifferent.

He said, "I don't like people pointing at me."

Tiger, coming from outside, hadn't heard of Caleb Ford. Thinking he was just a tall, thin, easy-going big boss, he sneered and continued pointing at Caleb Ford, saying, "So what if I point at you? I pointed at you!"

As he spoke, he took a few more steps forward,

as if eager to poke Caleb Ford's face.

Smack!

In a blur and with a crisp sound,

the billiard cue resting on Caleb Ford's shoulder suddenly struck Tiger's wrist.

The cue broke on impact.

Though Tiger's wrist showed no visible injury, from the sound it seemed the bone was broken.

His arrogant expression froze on his face, and with a bang, he sat on the ground, clutching his wrist, wailing in pain, truly hurt to the "bone."

This scene,

made Kian Holden's men restless.

Two lackeys dragged Tiger back.

Kian Holden's eyes flashed with malice as he asked, "President Ford doesn't want to talk anymore?"

"I talked, ninety-ten split immediately with a contract ready to sign."

Caleb Ford said.

"You're courting death!"

Kian Holden muttered, saying, "President Ford, I warn you, after tonight, there will be no more Caleb in Stillwater County. I'm not afraid to tell you, Apex Gardens and Apex Group are in my hands now. Look around, the billiard hall and downstairs are filled with my men. Do you think you still have any leverage to negotiate with me?"

Caleb Ford stretched out his hand, fingers apart.

Ewan Forrest placed a cigarette between his fingers.

Just as he put it to his lips,

Rose Forrest lit it for him.

After lighting it,

Caleb Ford took a puff.

He coldly said, "Kian Holden, knowing my temperament, last time you kidnapped my people, I should have shown you a lesson. But my little brother Dirk told me not to act, saying you'd surely act up again. I was thinking, who in Stillwater County would be bold enough to provoke me once and then a second time? Turns out he was right. I can't comprehend who gave you the courage to challenge my limits again. Aren't you afraid for your life?"

"Hahaha, Caleb, others may fear you, but I, Kian Holden, do not! Do you think you're the only one with backing? I have mine too! There are more than a few people who dislike you. Today, I'm going to make a move, and let's see what you can do."

He finished speaking.

Kian Holden snapped his fingers.

The people standing around all stepped forward, threateningly, ready to act at any moment.

"Caleb, I'm not trying to make it hard for you. Previously, my brother was crippled by you, giving you two choices: First, cripple your own hands and feet, and I'll let you go; Second, my men will take action, and who knows what the outcome will be."

"Do you dare to kill me?" Caleb Ford asked.

Kian Holden laughed heartily.

He said, "Why? Do you think you're the only one who can spend money to get someone to take the fall? I'm no different, brothers! Whoever chops down Caleb today, I'll give three million for your escape. I'll take care of your family."

The temptation was huge.

It made the surrounding thugs restless.

Seeing Kian Holden's smug face,

Caleb Ford laughed, "Alright, if you're so bold, let them come and try it out!"

"Courting death!"

Kian Holden muttered again.

He waved his hand and casually said, "Go get him!"

In his view,

once this order was given, Caleb's legend in Stillwater County would end.

Afterwards, Kian Holden would become the "god" of Stillwater County, taking over all real estate business. Having Sherman Summers' protection meant that it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he ruled unchecked.

But just as he issued this command,

Bang, bang, bang...

All the doors around the hall's private rooms flung open simultaneously.

From each room, more than a dozen people rushed out, from seven or eight rooms they flooded out, seventy to eighty people in an instant. Compared to the small gang he brought, these people wore suits, white gloves, and each held a baton. The mere sight of them was intimidating.

Originally thinking Caleb Ford had only four people,

with twenty or thirty people they could easily deal with them.

But suddenly, the opposition swelled to seventy or eighty, packing the billiard hall full.

Even more, a dozen people rushed to Caleb Ford's side, stood in a line, protecting him.

Meanwhile, Caleb Ford calmly took another billiard cue from Ewan Forrest's hand and leisurely continued playing.

This unexpected turn left Kian Holden shocked.

Knowing today's ambush was absolutely secret, even his lackeys brought in from outside were unaware of the night's target until the last moment.

But how did Caleb Ford's side know and prepare?
