A Bumpy Road to Power

Chapter 164: Completely Insane

"Secretary Lewis, I really apologize, but this is the investigation area; unauthorized personnel cannot enter!"

Claudius Zane still said with a cheeky smile.

Rash Scott was taken aback and said, "Unauthorized personnel? Director Zane, this is Secretary Lewis, our top leader in Stillwater County."

"Secretary Lewis is not a policeman, which makes him an unauthorized person, so he cannot enter!"

It was obvious that Claudius Zane's attitude was very firm.

Donal Lewis snorted coldly and asked, "What if I insist on going in today?"

Claudius Zane, with a contemptuous look, said, "Secretary Lewis, we can't do anything to you, but I'm the Police Chief, and if I say you can't enter, you simply cannot."

After speaking.

He turned around and shouted, "Human wall!"

With that command.

Two corridors on each side.

A line of police officers ran out of each.

They stood in a wide stance, tightly pressed together, forming a human wall that blocked the way to the investigation area.

Even though Donal Lewis wanted to go in, there was no way in now.

"Well, well, Claudius Zane, it seems you're rebelling now, fine, as Stillwater County's Secretary, I immediately remove you from your position as Police Chief."

Donal Lewis scolded.

Claudius Zane chuckled and said, "Secretary Lewis, let's not joke around. Even if I'm just a Deputy Director-level official, you can't dismiss me with just a word, right?"

It was evident.

Claudius Zane's attitude was very firm.

Donal Lewis nodded.

Said, "Fine, in that case, don't blame me for being rude."

After that.

He turned to look at Rash Scott.

Rash Scott took out his phone.

Dialed a number.

Said a few words over the phone.

At the entrance of the County Police Bureau.

A car from the Procuratorate and a car from the court drove in almost simultaneously.

Then.

Several other police cars from the Procuratorate and the court followed them, parking at the entrance when there was no more space.

Once all the car doors opened.

More than a dozen judicial police from both the Procuratorate and the court got out of the cars, assembled at the entrance, and rushed into the police bureau hall, standing behind Donal Lewis.

This scene began to make Claudius Zane somewhat nervous.

As the Police Chief, he was not afraid of these two judicial police forces; he was worried that once a standoff formed and things got out of hand, it could lead to injuries, which would be a big responsibility for him.

"Jude Walsh! Archibald Summers!"

Donal Lewis shouted loudly.

From the two groups of judicial police, one person from each stepped forward and answered in unison, "Here!"

Donal Lewis' face was somber as he ordered, "Charge in and bring the person out for me!"

"Yes!"

After receiving the orders.

A total of more than thirty judicial police officers quickly rushed out.

Just as Claudius Zane was unsure of what to decide.

Suddenly, someone shouted, "I'll see who dares to move!"

Following the voice.

Sherman Summers was seen with hands behind his back, walking out from an office nearby.

It was clear.

He had been there since the dispute started.

Behind Sherman Summers were two other individuals, one was Party Discipline Secretary Ty Adler, and the other was Political and Legal Affairs Commission Secretary Cameron Summers.

Political and Legal Affairs Commissioner Cameron Summers immediately stepped forward.

Angrily said, "Jude Walsh, Archibald Summers, it seems neither of you wants to continue working, now get back!"

It's known that the Political and Legal Affairs Committee strictly oversees law enforcement and justice.

With this reprimand.

The two were left looking at each other, unsure of what to do.

"Secretary Lewis, quite a grand setup, bringing in both the Procuratorate and the court, it seems, to save your secretary you've paid quite a price."

Sherman Summers walked up to Donal Lewis and said.

Donal Lewis also snorted coldly and said, "That's nowhere near as great as Magistrate Summers. It appears the police bureau is becoming your private army, doing whatever you want. I wonder what city officials would think if they saw this scene."

"Don't try to pressure me with people from above; Dirk Carter turned himself in, and his arrest by the police was justified; on the contrary, you, as a County Committee Secretary, are storming into the police bureau; I'd say the charges are not minor."

Sherman Summers said.

Donal Lewis scornfully said, "When adding guilt, what words won't fit? Whether Dirk Carter has issues, you know best, I'd still advise you to release him, lest the matter escalates beyond control."

"Release him? No way! You can't do it! I'll make it clear today, Dirk Carter won't be released."

Sherman Summers said resolutely.

"Really? Magistrate Summers, quite a mighty stance."

Just as this arrogant sentence was finished.

An elderly man appeared at the police bureau entrance.

A middle-aged man was supporting him.

The elder was Chester Bates, and the middle-aged man was Deputy Secretary Augustus Hendrix.

"Why is he here?"

Sherman Summers muttered to himself.

Quickly said, "Oh my, Elder Bates, why are you mingling in these troubled waters too?"

"If I didn't come, I'm afraid you'd blow the roof off Stillwater County, wouldn't you?"

Chester Bates walked to Donal Lewis' side and spoke with seriousness to Sherman Summers.

"Elder Bates, listen to you, you are retired, shouldn't you just enjoy your retirement? Why dabble needlessly?"

This tone sounded very respectful.

But anyone present could hear that Sherman Summers intended to tell Chester Bates that he no longer had any authority.

Chester Bates waved his hand and said, "I won't waste words with you, release Dirk Carter immediately, or else, my old bones won't leave today, hey, someone, bring me a chair."

A nearby judicial police officer brought over a chair.

Chester Bates sat down in front of everyone.

With an intention to wait it out.

At this moment, Sherman Summers had made up his mind.

The draft of Dirk Carter's video, he had to get a hold of it, otherwise, his fate would be in someone else's hands, which made him feel very insecure.

It was precisely because of this that he brazenly performed such an act.

Releasing him so easily, how is that possible?

"Fine, since Elder Bates you're willing to sit, then sit, anyway I said it just now, Dirk Carter won't be released."

Sherman Summers said firmly.

"Sherman Summers, are you determined to walk this dark path?"

Donal Lewis scolded.

Sherman Summers sneered and said, "That's not your concern. I said, even if the king of heaven comes today, I won't release him."

"Fine, you won't release him, right? Jude Walsh, Archibald Summers, get in there for me!"

Donal Lewis was also ready to risk it all!

With a wave of the hand.

The more than thirty judicial police officers stirred to action again.

Seeing a confrontation was inevitable.

Sherman Summers gritted his teeth.

Reached towards Claudius Zane's waist.

Directly pulled out his sidearm.

Pointed it at the ceiling, fired three shots rapidly!

Then aimed the gun forward, targeted at the judicial police preparing to charge, shouted, "Anyone who takes another step, I'll shoot."

Insanity.

Completely insane.

Claudius Zane, having his gun taken, was so scared his hands and feet were trembling.

Even Ty Adler and Cameron Summers, the two "trusted aides" of Sherman Summers, showed signs of fear seeing him like this.

"Sherman Summers, what are you doing?"

Donal Lewis shouted again.

Sherman Summers squinted and said, "I said, Dirk Carter won't be released today, if anyone insists on forcing it, don't blame me for shooting."

"You want to shoot? Alright, aim at me!"

Donal Lewis gritted his teeth.

Stepped out of the crowd.

Walked step by step towards Sherman Summers.

At this moment.

Everyone's hearts leaped to their throats.

If Sherman Summers really shot.

The situation today would truly become untenable.

Ty Adler anxiously took a step forward and said, "Magistrate Summers, I think..."

Hadn't finished the words of persuasion.

Sherman Summers pulled the trigger again, fired straight into the wall next to him.

The sound of the shot scared Ty Adler to sit down hard on the ground.
