A Bumpy Road to Power

Chapter 21: Crashing the Joint

"Yo, you're so worked up, seems like you two have a thing going on."

The slicked-back hair man was none other than June Bates.

He reached out a hand and gently stroked her hair.

His eyes scrutinized Dirk Carter while the wicked smile on his face gradually faded away.

"You're Dirk Carter?"

"Yes!"

"Alright, the fact that you came over shows you have some guts. I don't like beating around the bush; I have just one question. I'd like to know, who told you about Hilliard Hall's business?"

As soon as he asked this question.

Dirk Carter's puzzled mind was relieved at once.

The situation before him was Shane Vincent's doing.

Victor Ford's last scheme didn't work, so now they plan to use force.

Upon realizing this.

Dirk Carter didn't panic.

A smile appeared on his face.

"What are you smiling at?"

June Bates asked.

"I'm smiling because, despite his surface might, Brother Nine is nothing more than a dog raised by certain people behind the scenes."

"You're courting death!"

As soon as Dirk Carter finished speaking.

A tall, thin guy behind June Bates got angry.

It looked like he was going to rush forward to hit him.

But June Bates stopped him.

He grinned and said, "Ah Hao, he's an officer, using your hands is no fun."

Then, he turned to look at Dirk Carter again and leisurely said, "Two choices: first, answer my question truthfully, and you two can go back to where you came from; second, I really like this beauty, let her entertain me and my brothers for a while, and then you can leave smoothly."

"Hahaha..."

As he said this.

The gang behind June Bates all showed lewd smiles on their faces.

Their gazes started wandering over Delilah Goodman.

"What if I choose neither?"

Dirk Carter asked.

"Don't choose? Then I choose!"

Having said this.

June Bates snapped his fingers.

Two men behind him grabbed Delilah Goodman.

Delilah Goodman tried to struggle, but she was no match for the two men.

Her hands were forcibly pressed onto the back of the sofa, her body pushed forward.

Right before Dirk Carter's eyes.

June Bates stood up.

Walked behind Delilah Goodman.

He patted her on the bottom, laughed, and said, "Officer Carter, if I'm in a good mood later, I'll let you join the fun, how about it? I'm being nice to you, aren't I?"

"How dare you!?"

Dirk Carter gritted his teeth and said.

"Hahaha..."

June Bates laughed again.

He reached out and lifted Delilah Goodman's skirt.

When her black lace panties appeared before everyone, the gang members became excited as if pumped with adrenaline.

Delilah Goodman closed her eyes in humiliation, tears streaming down the corners of her eyes.

But what could she do?

Her mouth was sealed with tape.

Her body was controlled by the two men.

She had no room to resist whatsoever.

Seeing Dirk Carter's anger reaching its peak.

June Bates became more complacent.

He slowly undid his belt, unzipped his pants, and with his other hand, reached toward Delilah Goodman's last piece of cover...

Faced with the inevitable worst outcome.

In that precarious moment.

With a bang, the door of the private room was pushed open, and a panicked young man stumbled in, looking terrified as he said, "Brother Nine, Brother Nine, something's wrong, our Royal One has been raided."

Royal One was a nightclub owned by June Bates, and it always did good business.

"What did you say? Who did it?"

His movements immediately stopped.

He asked incredulously.

The underling swallowed and said, "Scar... Old Scar and his crew did it."

Before he could comment.

Another underling rushed in, and with the same tone as before, shouted, "Brother Nine, the place at Hi-Boom is in trouble, it's been raided."

"What?"

Another explosive piece of news.

Just when it seemed like it was over.

In a span of just three minutes.

Continuous messages kept coming in.

Every venue under June Bates' name had been hit in the past hour or so, suffering heavy losses. At this moment, except for Night Paris, which was still operating, all other venues had been forced to close.

"Old Scar, we've always kept to our own, but you've gone too far. Don't blame me for being ruthless. Lock these two up for me; I'll deal with them when I get back."

June Bates was furious to the extreme.

He had no time to deal with Dirk Carter.

As two underlings approached Dirk Carter.

He sat leisurely, picked up a bottle of beer, took a small sip, and said, "Brother Nine, didn't you think it was I who asked Old Scar to do this?"

"You?"

June Bates had just turned to leave.

Was frozen in place by these words.

He slowly turned back to look at Dirk Carter.

"Oh, Brother Nine, I almost forgot, I have a little welcome gift for you..."

Having said this.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

Into the phone, he said, "Bring in my gift."

After hanging up, footsteps could be heard in the hallway.

Under the watchful eyes, Darius Young walked in, carrying a sack on his shoulder.

After entering the private room.

Darius Young threw the sack onto the sofa.

And with a pull of the rope at the sack's mouth.

A young woman appeared before everyone.

Then.

Came sounds of exclamation.

Because the woman standing in front of them was known not only to June Bates but also to the lackeys there.

This person was none other than June Bates' most favored woman, Felicity Vance.

June Bates, the kind of person with at least a small harem, his subordinates knew well that Felicity was his favorite, usually kept in luxury, with nothing to do.

Yet this woman, at this moment, was in Dirk Carter's hands.

How was this possible?

With her mouth gagged and her hands and feet bound, Felicity Vance struggled as soon as she saw June Bates.

Dirk Carter cleared his throat and said, "Brother Nine, how about this gift? Do you like it?"

"Dirk Carter, you're courting death, brothers, beat him to a pulp, just keep him breathing!"

Finally.

June Bates was utterly enraged.

With a wave of his hand.

Seven or eight thugs in the room picked up beer bottles and rushed towards Dirk Carter.

Danger!

Seeing this.

Delilah Goodman began to panic, going "mmm mmm mmm."

Seeing Dirk Carter about to come to harm to save her, she closed her eyes in fright, not daring to look.

Then.

She heard thumping sounds around her.

These sounds lasted for about a minute.

When she opened her eyes, the scene in front of her left her stunned.

Dirk Carter was still sitting in the same spot, except for his slightly messy hair and clothes, there weren't any visible injuries on him.

And the seven or eight guys who were so menacing just moments ago were now lying on the ground, rolling in pain with anguished expressions.

June Bates stood there in shock, his eyes wide, his facial muscles twitching slightly...

What exactly just happened?
