A Bumpy Road to Power

Chapter 312: Under a Spell

"Alright, let's move them ourselves and save a hundred is a hundred."

Since Elaine had spoken, Dirk didn't mind either.

Just as Elaine was about to lift the first box, with a clatter, the driver's side door opened.

Arlo dashed over like the wind.

He snatched the box from Elaine's hands, saying, "How can we let a girl do this? You take a break on the side, I'll do it..."

After saying this, he opened the trunk and placed the box inside.

It wasn't over yet.

He swiftly turned back and loaded the rest of the luggage, piece by piece.

"Arlo, you don't have to be so eager, I already said I wouldn't pay that extra hundred bucks."

Dirk said.

Arlo wiped the sweat from his forehead and said, "Money or no money, we're brothers, friends, we should help each other."

Huh?

What's this nonsense?

Is this really Arlo?

He took out a hundred bucks from his pocket.

He said, "Since helping with the luggage isn't counted, the transportation fee still has to be covered."

Arlo glanced at Elaine not far away and said with a serious face, "Dirk, if you keep this up, I'll get mad. I already said, we're brothers, how can I make money off you?"

"Didn't you just say it was just right to buy a bunch of flowers for Nurse Bebe?"

Dirk asked.

Arlo looked embarrassed and said, "What Nurse Bebe, I don't even know her. Buy flowers? You must've heard wrong."

Dirk was stunned.

He reached out to feel Arlo's forehead, but Arlo pushed him away.

"No fever, so what's going on? Whatever you are, hurry and get out of Arlo, or I'll find a Daoist to exorcise you."

Dirk scolded, pointing at Arlo.

Arlo angrily retorted, "Dirk, stop messing around, the lady is watching."

Lady?

Dirk turned to see Elaine standing not far off.

He immediately understood.

Bebe was short and plump, and Arlo was quite smitten by her.

Yet Elaine behind him was also curvy, not short, and with a very pretty face, practically the diva of the chubby charmers; compared to her, Bebe was a world apart.

Lowering his voice, Dirk asked, "Kid, could it be that you have a special liking for fuller figures?"

"No such thing. Alright, no more talking, where to? I'll take you."

Arlo swiftly changed the subject.

Dirk pointed at the vehicle and said, "Take a look, it's all packed in, where do we sit? Drive this to the Solstice Manor Community, and Elaine and I will be right there."

"Elaine? Is that pretty lady named Elaine?"

Arlo immediately inquired.

Dirk nodded and said, "Elaine Nolan."

"Elaine Nolan? What a nice name. How will you two get there?"

Arlo asked.

Dirk pointed at the motorcycle beside them and said, "This thing."

Arlo was taken aback and said, "Can I discuss something with you?"

"Spill it."

"How about I ride the motorcycle with her as my passenger, and you drive the car?"

Arlo cheekily asked.

"Sure, fifteen hundred."

Dirk shot out the price without hesitation.

Arlo's face immediately turned into a mask of anger, saying, "Dirk, you're asking for too much, fifteen hundred? You might as well be robbing me."

"Then I won't agree..."

"Dirk, don't be too much... fifteen hundred it is, but I don't have that much on me; I'll give it to you tomorrow."

Arlo said angrily with a straight face.

Just then, Elaine came over and asked, "What's going on? Why aren't we leaving yet?"

Dirk pointed to the vehicle and said, "It's full, so two people have to ride the motorcycle."

Elaine nodded and said, "Why don't you both ride the motorcycle and I'll drive the car, okay?"

"Well..."

Arlo was just about to refuse.

Elaine had already gotten into the car, fastened her seatbelt, and waved to them, saying, "See you in a bit."

With that, she floored the gas pedal and the car drove off.

Leaving Dirk and Arlo standing there dumbfounded.

"Let's go."

Dirk straddled the motorcycle and said.

Arlo reluctantly got on, his regret practically seeping from his face.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you, Elaine just got her driver's license, today's probably her first day driving."

Dirk said, starting up the motorcycle.

Arlo sat on the back seat, feeling like he had taken a blow to the head, furious to the point of gritting his teeth.

If Dirk weren't driving, he'd wring his neck no doubt.

Solstice Manor, a high-end community in Kenton County.

Before Elaine arrived, her house was already rented for her, of course, Gage Nolan paid for it.

During unloading, Arlo was exceptionally eager, handling practically all the luggage himself, all to leave a good impression on Elaine.

Dirk was left amused and exasperated by the situation.

Once everything was settled, Arlo was panting, exhausted, thinking he'd finally get to chat with a pretty lady, only to see Dirk and Elaine ready to head out.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm taking Elaine to report to the County Committee."

Dirk replied.

Arlo was taken aback and asked, "What about me?"

"You go back to work."

Dirk said.

"But I took the afternoon off."

Arlo seemed a bit hurt.

Dirk pondered for a moment and said, "How about you drive us there? And later, you treat us to dinner?"

"I treat?"

"What's the matter? If you don't want to, never mind."

"I'll treat, I'll treat, of course, I'll treat."

Arlo eagerly followed along...

Night fell.

Lights illuminated the homes of many.

Inside a private room at The Imperial Grand Hotel.

The dining table was laden with sumptuous food.

Elsie Eames wore a black evening dress, with bare shoulders, looking quite alluring.

Across from her sat Bjorn Dixon, his face full of anticipation.

Donation failure didn't matter, since tonight there was solace, his dream woman within reach; that excitement surpassed everything.

Pouring a glass of wine for Elsie, he pretended to ask gallantly, "Elsie, are you satisfied with this dinner tonight?"

Elsie shyly said, "Hmm, County Mayor Dixon is indeed sincere."

"Don't call me County Mayor Dixon after today, you'll be my woman, call me Ignatius from now on."

Bjorn Dixon said.

Elsie bashfully called, "Ignatius..."

That call.

It absolutely melted Bjorn Dixon's heart.

He let out a satisfied sigh and downed the glass of wine in one gulp.

The two clinked their glasses, the atmosphere was right, love was in the air, words of affection exchanged, both were slightly tipsy.

The atmosphere was perfect.

Elsie stood up.

Affectionately said, "Ignatius, it's getting late, shouldn't we rest?"

In high spirits, having drunk a bit too much.

Though slightly tipsy, it actually seemed to add to his stamina.

He smiled and said, "Shall we go?"

"Let's go."

The two cuddled together.

Took the elevator up.

Reached the tenth-floor corridor, just as Bjorn Dixon was about to proceed, Elsie suddenly hugged his waist and said, "Ignatius, this is my first time with you, I'm still a little shy. Why don't we add some romance to it, this way it'll avoid my embarrassment, alright?"

"Shy? Isn't it just that little thing between a man and a woman."

Bjorn Dixon drunkenly said.

Elsie playfully asked, "Will you agree?"

"Agree, agree, whatever my little baby says, I agree with. Tell me, what are we gonna play?"

Elsie, like a magician, pulled out a half-black mask, reached out, and placed it on Bjorn Dixon's face.

The mask covered the upper half of Bjorn Dixon's face.

"A mask? Interesting, interesting..."

Bjorn Dixon found it a bit novel and became interested instantly.

Elsie also put on a gold mask covering her upper face, saying, "Ignatius, wait here for five minutes, I'll go in to prepare, then I'll leave the door open for you. But we agreed, throughout our... intimate moments, no one can talk, we must stay quiet."

"Why?"

Bjorn Dixon asked.

Elsie blinked flirtatiously and said, "For atmosphere, don't you get it? Otherwise, how will our first time leave a deep impression on you? I'm doing this so you won't forget me..."
