A Bumpy Road to Power

Chapter 315: Even Female Ghosts Are Passionate

Shocking news.

Dirk Carter thought for a moment, then suddenly said, "No way!"

Maeve Winters was taken aback and asked, "What's wrong?"

Dirk Carter continued to ask, "Did Templeton Quill tell you he released those two clues as a way to stay alive?"

Maeve Winters nodded and said, "I went to the detention center and asked him face-to-face. He said it himself. With so many charges against him, he was sure to face the death penalty, so he released those two clues hoping to get a reprieve."

Dirk Carter rubbed his chin in thought for a while, then said, "Based on the two clues he's given, solving these two cases would indeed be huge. But haven't you thought about why he suddenly decided to talk?"

"Isn't it because he's afraid of dying?"

Maeve Winters said.

Dirk Carter waved his hand and said, "From the time he was caught, it's only been about a month. Whether or not he'd get the death penalty, he knew a long time ago. Such a large-scale smuggling and counterfeiting operation isn't something an ordinary person can pull off. Moreover, after he was caught, the counterfeit operation was moved overnight, which indicates he isn't the mastermind behind both operations. Isn't he afraid that someone else might want to silence him?"

Maeve Winters furrowed her brows in thought and said, "Are you implying that there's someone powerful behind these two cases too, and he was too afraid to speak before because of this person. Now that he's suddenly speaking up, maybe there's more to it than just saving his own life."

"Yes, it's not just about saving his life. Someone must have made him a promise, which is why he dared to speak. In other words, someone is deliberately using him to reveal this matter."

Dirk Carter said with conviction.

Maeve Winters laughed, "Aren't you being a bit too sensitive? Maybe he just wants to make amends with his testimony."

Dirk Carter exhaled deeply and said, "Maybe. I've been dealing with too many intrigues and conspiracies lately. It feels like everyone's a bad guy."

"What about me?"

Maeve Winters suddenly sat down next to Dirk Carter and asked.

Dirk Carter glanced at her and, pouting, said, "You're even worse. Last time, you almost played me to death."

"Tsk, and who was it that claimed they were unstoppable? Turns out, you're just a softy."

What man can tolerate being called soft?

Dirk Carter, enraged, pushed Maeve Winters onto the sofa.

Threateningly, he said, "Aren't you afraid you won't be able to walk for days again?"

"Can't wait!"

Maeve Winters grinned mischievously.

Her red lips pressed forward.

An entangling of lips and teeth followed.

Their passions gradually ignited.

Maeve Winters quickly stripped herself, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Do you dare to make it big?"

"Normally, I wouldn't dare, but with you, I'm fearless."

Dirk Carter said.

Maeve Winters, naked, sprang up from the sofa.

She walked to the window.

With her hands on the window, she jutted her hips and said, "Come on, just like this."

Just like this?

Dirk Carter was a bit dumbfounded.

This woman's courage was astonishing.

Considering Dirk Carter's office was across from many office buildings and residences, if anyone happened to be looking, they'd have a full view of Maeve's prominent figure.

"What? Are you scared?"

Maeve Winters taunted.

Dirk Carter laughed, "Since you're daring enough, why shouldn't I be? Bring it on. Who's afraid of whom?"

With that,

he stood behind Maeve Winters, adjusted his position, and plunged forward.

It wasn't clear whether he did it deliberately or it was a genuine reaction.

At the brightly lit window, Maeve struck many seductive poses, her facial expressions as twisted as they came, even pressing her soft, plush bunnies against the window, flattening them with each movement, which made the atmosphere even more electrifying.

Dirk Carter's actions became increasingly vigorous.

After a round,

they both fell apart.

Dirk Carter sat back on the sofa.

Maeve Winters, still naked, rested her head on his thigh.

With a mouthful of "lollipop," she seemed unsatisfied.

After a moment of savoring, she said to Dirk Carter, "It's great working at the same place with you. Whenever I'm hungry, there's food available. My cousin doesn't have this privilege; she only has toys to play with."

"Isn't your cousin envious of you then?"

Dirk Carter bantered.

Maeve Winters giggled and said, "Of course. Whenever we chat on the phone, I always brag about it to her."

"You women talk about this?"

Dirk Carter asked in surprise.

Maeve Winters quickly rose, her swift motion causing her large, white rabbits to jiggle vigorously, saying, "You probably don't know this, but women can be even more lustful than men. In this world, there are only exhausted cows, never plowed fields, so after men are spent, they need some downtime. But women are different; we can keep wanting more."

After finishing, she pouted and thought for a moment, then said, "Even wanting more from you won't work. Last time, I thought I'd break down."

"But you're fine now, aren't you?"

Dirk Carter teased.

Maeve Winters giggled and said, "That's why I'm here. It's still early after work; why don't we go another round?"

"Aren't you afraid you won't be able to walk again tomorrow?"

Raised eyebrows, Maeve Winters said, "To die under the peony is to be a ghost in style. To me, dying under your rod and lash, I'd gladly be a ghostly belle."

With that,

she lay down.

Spread her legs and patted her butterfly wide open, saying, "Come on, don't be shy..."

They say men like provocative women.

Turns out it's true.

There's not a man who wouldn't like Maeve Winters' personality.

Dirk Carter's spirit was instantly lifted. Just as he was about to get into action, there was a knock on the door.

Yves Quill's voice called out, "Boss, Deputy Magistrate Walsh said she needed to see you."

Edith Walsh?

Both were taken aback.

Dirk Carter said, "Alright, tell her to wait a moment."

There wasn't enough time to get dressed.

Maeve Winters grabbed her clothes and slipped into the little room in Dirk Carter's office.

Dirk Carter quickly pulled on his shirt, couldn't bother buttoning it.

He threw on an administrative jacket and zipped it up.

Just finished.

Edith Walsh's voice sounded at the door: "Deputy Magistrate Carter, I'm coming in."

The doorknob turned.

Dirk Carter didn't have time to put on his pants, snatched a blanket used for napping to cover his lower half.

With a clatter.

The door opened.

Edith Walsh walked in, closing the door behind her.

"Oh, it's Deputy Walsh."

Dirk Carter tried to suppress his heavy breathing, pretending to have just woken up, and stretched lazily.

Seeing him in that lazy state, Edith Walsh asked, "Did I disturb your rest?"

Dirk Carter rubbed his eyes and said, "No, I'm already awake. What's up?"

"Oh, it's nothing major. I went to the government office and happened to pass by, so I came over to chat."

"Oh, then have a seat."

Dirk Carter didn't get up and gestured towards the sofa opposite.

After Edith Walsh sat down, she noticed Dirk Carter was still covered with a blanket and asked curiously, "Are you cold?"

"Nope."

"Then do you have arthritis?"

Edith Walsh asked again.

Dirk Carter quickly pretended and knocked on his leg, saying, "I don't know why, but whenever the weather changes, my legs get a bit sore."

"But it's a sunny day today."

Edith Walsh spoke with skepticism.

Dirk Carter was embarrassed, quickly saying, "Oh, maybe it's tomorrow, tomorrow..."

"Tomorrow's also sunny, according to the weather forecast."

This Edith Walsh was truly relentless, leaving Dirk Carter at a loss for words.

Seeing Dirk Carter still hadn't made any tea.

She picked up the teapot on the table, realizing it was empty, and said, "I'll go fetch some water from inside."

Inside?

Maeve Winters was in there!

If Edith Walsh saw her, it would be disastrous.

In a panic, he grabbed the teapot and said, "No need, are you thirsty? I'm not..."

Edith Walsh widened her eyes, looked toward Dirk Carter, and pointed at his crotch, saying, "Then maybe it's thirsty..."
