A Bumpy Road to Power

Chapter 396: Even Beauties Cannot Resist a Hero

Naked, embracing each other as they slept.

Although when Dorothy Zechariah's body pressed against his, Dirk Carter's heart ignited with desire, he still held back.

"Do you really not want to?"

After a moment of silence, Dorothy suddenly asked.

"Uh... well..."

The mind's distractions aren't so easily controlled.

Dirk was momentarily tongue-tied, and Dorothy said, "Fine, if you don't want to, don't blame me for being rude."

There was a clear sensation of something hard pressing between their hips.

Perhaps for fun.

Dorothy deliberately wriggled her hips.

With such provocation, Dirk could no longer hold it in.

The two of them snuggled for a while, eventually growing tired and dozed off into a deep sleep.

At nine o'clock the next morning.

In a hotel in Ronan City.

Erica Linden had just woken up from a delightful sleep, feeling as though every pore in her body had opened wide; the sensation was incredibly pleasurable.

She got out of bed.

Looked at herself in the mirror.

Compared to yesterday, her complexion was more rosy and radiant.

She stretched lazily, ready to have a cup of black coffee first.

As soon as she opened the door, she froze.

There on the sofa in the living room sat a man drinking tea; it was none other than Benson Caldwell.

Benson usually liked wearing traditional Chinese attire.

He wore an impeccably neat traditional suit with simple cloth shoes, appearing very low-key.

"Brother Benson, why are you here?"

Erica asked, surprised.

Benson put down his teacup and asked, "How was it, did you have fun?"

"It was fun; I haven't been out to play for a long time. This time Corinne invited me, we spent a day fooling around, just woke up now."

As she spoke.

Erica snuggled into Benson's arms.

Benson wore an indulgent expression.

However, his eyes fell on the bathrobe that had inadvertently been pulled open.

The flesh between her legs was slightly red, clearly the aftermath of an intense encounter.

He remained expressionless.

He asked, "Got any plans for today?"

Erica thought for a moment and said, "Corinne invited me to go to Ardmore City with her; we're planning to hike up Mount Cinderon."

"Mount Cinderon is a great place, you should go and check it out."

Benson commented.

Erica coyly asked, "Brother Benson, do you want to come with me? We haven't gone out together in a long time."

"You play with your girlfriends, I won't tag along. Besides, I'm only in Ronan City to handle some business; I have to head back soon. Remember to return home when you're tired."

After speaking.

Benson stood up.

He pointed to a bank card on the coffee table and said, "There's some money in this, take it and spend as you like."

"Thank you, Brother Benson."

Erica happily wrapped her arms around Benson's shoulders, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"All right, go have fun. I'm heading back now."

"Okay, goodbye, Brother Benson."

Watching Benson disappear down the corridor.

Erica quickly closed the door and made a phone call to Corrine Quance.

Corinne said she was all set and just waiting for Erica.

Erica quickly asked, "Corinne, can that masseur from last night come to Ardmore City?"

Over the phone, Corinne chuckled and said, "Don't worry, Erica, I'll arrange it."

"Great, that's perfect."

Erica threw her hands up in excitement and said, "See you downstairs at the hotel in fifteen minutes."

After hanging up the call.

Erica busied herself with packing her things.

While bustling about, she reminisced about soaring to heaven last night, and her face flushed once more.

Climbing was never her real intention.

What she truly wanted was the freedom away from Benson Caldwell.

Of course, that wasn't the most important thing.

The most important, as Dirk once said, was that after being with him, Erica was bewitched; having just had her fill yesterday, she was already craving that taste again today.

As the saying goes, even heroes succumb to the temptations of beauty.

Sometimes, men too can't resist the allure of a hero's challenge.

Climbing isn't important.

What matters is the deserved massage after the climb.

Just thinking about it stirred up a flowing waterfall within.

Fifteen minutes later.

The two of them got into Erica's private car.

As the car just pulled out.

Three cars from the corner followed them.

Two sedans and a van.

Sitting inside the van was none other than Benson Caldwell.

Beside him sat a woman with a cold expression, clad in a tight-fitting tank top under a leather jacket and skinny jeans below.

She had a good figure.

Also quite pretty.

Her name was Isabelle Guthrie, nicknamed The Leopard Cat.

Despite being just a woman, she was the fiercest bodyguard by Benson's side. Rumor had it that even four or five men with good skills couldn't get close to her.

As mentioned before, Benson was a cautious man whenever he went out, with quite a fanfare.

The front and rear sedans were full of his usual bodyguards.

Furthermore, their destination was Ardmore City, Jaden Lawson's territory; he didn't want any mishaps along the way.

The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.

Benson was unaware.

As he followed Erica's car.

Another car was following his fleet at a discreet distance.

The drivers were Ewan and Rose Forrest, the sisters.

A still-sleepy Dirk quickly received news of Benson heading to Ardmore City.

His heart tightened.

He abruptly shot out of bed.

"What's wrong?"

His sudden action startled Dorothy, who rubbed her sleepy eyes and asked.

Dirk patted her on the shoulder and said, "Keep sleeping. I've got some business to handle. If I don't come back today, pack up and head back to Ronan City."

"Okay."

Dorothy obediently replied.

As he dressed and was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something.

Dirk turned back, kissed Dorothy on the forehead, and with a smile, said, "In retrospect, I should've slept with you last night; otherwise, there might not be another chance. It's a bit of a regret now."

Dorothy smiled glamorously.

And said, "Then come back early today, I'll be here."

"Alright, it's a deal. If I come back today, I'll take you and shake the heavens and earth, okay?"

"Sure, I'll wait for you."

Dorothy replied.

As he opened the door to leave.

Dirk exhaled a long breath.

He glanced back to see Dorothy had dozed off again.

It's not jest but genuinely sincere.

After all, today's battle was about to be the fiercest he'd face since entering the political arena; whether he could return was uncertain.

The doomed clings to fate; the undying lives forever.

Dirk muttered to himself.

Opening the door, he walked out with resolve.

Reaching the bottom floor, he dialed a number.

Once the call connected, Dirk said, "Inform everyone, the tiger hunt begins."

After saying that, he hung up immediately.

At that moment, he didn't know that on the balcony of Clearwind Gardens, wrapped in a bath towel, Dorothy was watching him with eyes full of concern.

Though unaware of what Dirk was up to.

Dorothy wasn't foolish.

She had picked up on something from Dirk's words.
