A Bumpy Road to Power

Chapter 62: Three Blazing Fires

"I am, and you are..."

Shane Vincent noticed something off about the clothing of these people and quickly stepped up to speak.

The leader, with a stern expression, said, "We are from the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection. We've received a real-name report from Lauren Radford, accusing you, during your tenure as deputy county mayor, of using your authority to accept bribes, condoning the polluting practices of Gideon Plastics Factory, causing tremendous harm to the people. You manipulated Lauren Radford's life, causing her significant physical and mental damage. With approval from the Municipal Standing Committee, we are enforcing Shuanggui. Please come with us."

Lauren Radford's real-name report?

This outcome was something Dirk Carter hadn't anticipated.

Shane Vincent's face turned a sickly green.

His body was unsteady.

He swayed twice.

Then he collapsed onto the ground.

"It's over, this time it's really over..."

In full view of the public.

Shane Vincent was taken away by the Commission's people.

Adair Meyer was then sent back to the hospital.

The reason being that he was somewhat incoherent, continuously speaking nonsense.

Until three days later.

News came from the hospital.

Due to severe mental trauma, Adair Meyer was in a state of delusion and was no longer capable of serving as the deputy director of the Work Safety Administration.

Thus.

Shane Vincent and Adair Meyer were taken down three days apart, and this dramatic farce finally came to a close.

"Let's go, let's chat in your office."

Seeing Shane Vincent and Adair Meyer being taken away in succession.

Dahlia Hughes stood up and said to Dirk Carter.

The two walked one behind the other into Dirk Carter's office.

As soon as they closed the door, Dahlia Hughes stood in the middle of the office, slowly taking off her clothes one by one.

"What are you doing?"

Dirk Carter asked.

Dahlia Hughes smiled alluringly, saying, "Treating the illness, what else?"

Then.

She grabbed Dirk Carter's hand and guided it directly to her nether region.

Murmuring, "Touch it, the flood has long overflowed."

Sure enough.

Just a gentle touch.

A sticky hand was already the result.

"But everyone is waiting for us."

Dirk Carter said with some concern.

Dahlia Hughes cared little.

Pushing Dirk Carter down onto the sofa, she said, "I'll be the executive deputy county mayor from now on. The longer I talk to you, the less anyone dares to mess with you. I'm doing this for your good."

"For my good? I'd say it's for your good, isn't it?"

Dirk Carter teased.

Dahlia Hughes impatiently peeled off his pants and expertly mounted him.

Again came a wild romp.

By the time they had settled, a full hour and a half had passed.

Dahlia Hughes lay spread-eagle on the sofa, even after finishing, her body couldn't stop quivering; her bouncing breasts were highly enticing.

Dirk Carter let out a sigh.

Asked, "How was it?"

"Ecstatic, just ecstatic. I don't know how many times I've felt like dying—you, you beast, are simply amazing."

Dahlia Hughes sat up, coyly wrapped her arms around Dirk Carter's neck, and said, "You've really claimed my soul. I can't ever leave you now. But speaking of which, how did you know I could rise to executive deputy county mayor? I didn't catch even a whisper of this."

Dirk Carter smiled faintly.

And said, "Because I fought for that position for you."

"You? Are you kidding me?"

"Do I look like I'm kidding?"

That remark left Dahlia Hughes momentarily dazed.

"How did you manage that?"

"It wasn't me who managed it, but Caleb Ford helped me achieve it."

"Caleb Ford? Caleb Ford of Apex Group? How could he possibly help you?"

Dahlia Hughes was even more astonished.

Dirk Carter didn't hide anything from her.

He explained the whole story in detail.

Only then did Dahlia Hughes suddenly understand. She nodded and asked, "Was Lauren Radford's situation also arranged by you?"

"No, I didn't know she would risk herself to report Shane Vincent."

Dirk Carter said.

Dahlia Hughes let out a sigh.

And said, "I understand now, she's repaying you."

"Repaying me? What do you mean?"

"A snake not killed will bite back; this failure will make Shane Vincent completely lose his mind. Who knows what crazy things he might do to you next? You've given Lauren Radford freedom; she repays you with smooth sailing no matter what she is loyal and dutiful."

Is that really how it is?

Listening to Dahlia Hughes's analysis.

Some corner of Dirk Carter's heart also trembled slightly.

"Sister, is there any way to save Lauren Radford?"

"Do you want to save her?"

"Yes."

Dirk Carter nodded.

Dahlia Hughes pondered for a moment and said, "She's an accomplice, plus she's long been under Shane Vincent's control, along with her own victimhood and voluntary confession; her position should be preserved, but she'll certainly face disciplinary action."

"Then, please help save her, Sister."

Dirk Carter said.

Dahlia Hughes chuckled, "I can save her, but..."

Dirk Carter wasn't oblivious to her mischievous intent.

His fingers started roaming up her thigh, nearing the deep pool, plunging in.

Dahlia Hughes's expression froze once more.

A flush arose.

Her throat hummed.

As her fingertips twitched.

Dahlia Hughes's body grew tense, panting continuously, utterly unable to resist.

The last time they had a "secret talk" in the meeting room ran over an hour.

This time, however, it was a full two hours.

By the time they exited the office, night had already fallen outside.

Though the workday had ended, not a single person had left the Work Safety Administration.

Even Alfie Grant was waiting patiently.

"Minister Grant, thank you for coming to assist me."

As Dirk Carter escorted Alfie Grant into his car, he spoke softly.

Alfie Grant gave a bitter smile, saying, "What are you saying? When my younger brother is in trouble, how could I not show up?"

Dirk Carter smiled faintly, saying, "Minister Grant, your nephew couldn't adjust to living with me, so I arranged for someone to send him back. However, I hope you'll conduct yourself well; if your nephew wishes to visit again, I won't let him leave so easily next time."

The words were spoken with a pleasant smile.

But they carried a hint of threat.

Alfie Grant understood, but could only return the smile.

He and Dahlia Hughes had both been summoned by Dirk Carter.

Even though Alfie Grant was of no help today, Dirk Carter still had him show his face.

It wasn't about intimidating Shane Vincent.

Dirk Carter's aim was just to have him witness the entire process.

This way, Alfie Grant naturally wouldn't dare act rashly.

After all, he had personally seen Shane Vincent's downfall.

Having sent off the two leaders.

Dirk Carter just turned around.

The office director, Hubert Tanner, quickly came over, smiling, "Director Carter, it's late now; why don't I treat you to dinner?"

Hubert Tanner, this old fox.

Previously, he was always Adair Meyer's man.

Now seeing Dirk Carter turn the tide, he was scared to death and immediately rushed over to curry favor.

"No need for dinner; they say a new official sets off three fires, and my three fires have already burned out; Director Tanner can be at ease."

After speaking.

He patted Hubert Tanner's shoulder and left.

Dirk Carter's three fires, each fiercer than the last.

The first fire directly took out Gilroy Thompson; the second fire burned Adair Meyer, who no one dared provoke; the third fire was even more outrageous, directly extinguishing Shane Vincent.

The entire Work Safety Administration, top to bottom, truly had their eyes opened this time.

Three days later, two bombshell pieces of news hit the Work Safety Administration simultaneously.

The first news, Adair Meyer resigned from his position as deputy director of the Work Safety Administration due to health reasons.

The second news, Dirk Carter was relieved of his duties as party committee deputy secretary and vice director of the Work Safety Administration, and transferred to Sunglow Town to serve as the party committee deputy secretary and acting mayor.

The two news items, like two bombs, simultaneously blew up the Work Safety Administration.
