"Fifty kilometers ahead, number of people, five..."
At this point, Jeming suddenly stopped, looking perplexed.
"What's wrong?" Amy asked nervously.
Jeming rubbed his chin and thought for a moment, "Hold on..."
His mind sank into the space within his body, activating Alchemy, and temporarily modifying the core module of one Eye of the Micro-Light.
He changed the original "Wave Search" to "Deciphering Skill."
Once integrated into the scouting system of other Eyes of the Micro-Light, Jeming shot an Energy Bullet, directing this Eye of the Micro-Light towards the direction where the squad was detected.
As Deciphering Skill assisted in detecting Energy fluctuations, Jeming's expression quickly relaxed:
"It's the resonance of Witchcraft."
The so-called Witchcraft resonance is the natural disturbance of external Elemental Energy based on the Meditation Method and Witchcraft Model.
"It's Wizards!" Victor perked up.
Amy also became spirited.
The contracts signed by Jeming and the others when they entered were quite effective; at least in the absence of excessive enmity, most Wizards under Nolun Workshop encountered on the Plane Battlefield were trustworthy.
The other party also seemed aware of the Deciphering Skill fluctuation released by Jeming, cautiously moving in Jeming's direction.
However, they didn't go far before they encountered the enemy.
Feeling the intense Energy fluctuations transmitted from the "Tactical Map," Jeming did not rush forward immediately.
He checked the feedback from the Eyes of the Micro-Light once more, confirming that the Witchcraft fluctuations from the other side were standard workshop configurations without anomalies, then carefully guided the two closer.
"Stop."
As they were about to get closer, Jeming signaled the two to hide.
In the distance, a squad of five Wizards was engaged in a fierce battle with a group of giant spiders.
Their Magic light intertwined with the spiders' venom, and the battle was intense.
Jeming and his companions did not intervene rashly, not only to prevent any unforeseen situations but also to show their sincerity, indicating that they bore no malice.
After waiting for them to finish the battle, Jeming then revealed himself with Amy and Victor.
"We are Apprentices from Nolun 13 Academy, here to seek support." Jeming stated their identity directly.
The squad leader of the Wizard Squad, a not particularly outstanding-looking Second Level Wizard, cautiously scrutinized them.
However, Jeming's previous actions were observed, not to mention the Energy fluctuation of Deciphering Skill was undeniable, so there was no significant conflict.
Confirming that the Deciphering Skill indeed came from the person before them, the Wizard Squad's leader nodded: "Oh, test Apprentices, are you? It's impressive you came so quickly. Follow us, the camp is just ahead."
Led by the Wizard Squad, the three quickly reached their destination.
The view before them opened up to a vast plain cleared of obstacles, where a Wizard Camp constructed of Metal stood.
Yet, it did not resemble a war-torn, heavily guarded fortress as Jeming imagined.
Instead, this camp seemed more like a recently established, but somewhat empty, small-version Nolun Academy.
At its center were several towering Rune Towers, surrounded by a multitude of houses and training grounds, even a section resembling a public canteen.
Although the buildings were not ornately decorated like those at the academy, they still projected a sense of peace.
"Is this our Wizard Base Camp?" Amy asked, somewhat surprised.
"Yes, Apprentice. This is our front-line temporary command center," the leading Wizard explained, "Most Wizard Squads are out on missions, leaving only logistics and a few stationed personnel behind."
The Wizard Squad didn't elaborate on the situation here, nor did they seem worried about sudden attacks from the Indigenous People.
But Jeming and his companions understood.
Though somewhat sparse within, Jeming could sense the terrifying power contained within the camp from the details.
All around the camp, Elemental fluctuations, dense enough to nearly become substantial, reflected the concentration of countless Rune circuits and Energy nodes.
Once fully operational, this small academy would instantly transform into a horrifying war machine, enough to shred any invading enemies.
At the camp's outskirts, various models of War Golems were densely parked, their sizes varying from reconnaissance types slightly taller than a person to siege types tens of meters high.
A variety of summonings, from Abyssal Demon Dogs to Elemental Giant Spirits, were also scattered around the camp.
With internal stations of High-Level Wizards and the camp itself, even if the Gods of this world unexpectedly launched a full-scale war, it could hold out for a long time.
After leading them here, the leading Wizard departed directly; it seemed bringing encountered Apprentices to the camp was part of their mission.
The three followed the guiding Golem within the camp to a Rune Tower at the center, the hub for identity registration and task issuance.
"Please input your identity information, Apprentices," a Wizard responsible for registration said without looking up.
Jeming and the others each placed their Apprentice Badges into the respective Rune grooves, and a stream of information instantly flowed into their minds.
"Welcome to the Elorcia Frontline Camp, Apprentices," a cold voice echoed in their minds, while their permissions list also clearly appeared before them.
"You may use the camp's Teleportation Array to forcibly breach the Plane barrier and leave, though doing so means you automatically forfeit the current assessment and will be directly sent back to Nolun Workshop Headquarters."
"You can also use the camp facilities for resupply or trade raw materials, special items, or even new knowledge you researched within the Plane with the workshop."
"However, you cannot access the Plane's Wizard war mission system."
This final rule left Amy and Victor momentarily stunned.
"Why?" Victor couldn't help but ask.
The Wizard in charge of registration finally looked up, explaining expressionlessly: "It's simple, your purpose here in this Plane is to undergo an assessment. And the tasks in the mission system are released by us, Official Wizards, based on intelligence and information gathered from the front line."
"This intelligence is a resource in itself. Providing this information directly to you defeats the purpose of this assessment. You must learn to investigate, judge, and contribute on your own."
"The workshop seeks to select those elites who can independently survive and create value in unknown environments, not soldiers who merely follow orders. Do you understand?"
Jeming and the others exchanged a glance, nodding reluctantly.
