In total, Merissa gave Kreyn three Artifacts, not counting the black chain he found at the Crimson Crystal Cavern.
If it weren't for the effect of the Dagger of the Desperate Ghost, Kreyn would not have been able to withstand the use of so many Artifacts in such a short time.
But, even though it was the dagger that gave him the strength to fight Ardur on equal terms, another Artifact was part of his plan.
[Eye of the Broken Light
Type: Tool
A petrified eye that saw more than it could let pass through itself. Still, its desire to observe histories, to see the world change, remained deep in its nature, as did the bright light that would drive away creatures of darkness and burn the particularly bold ones.
The power of this eye will only be revealed when it sees a history, all kinds of them, the more and rarer they are, the more significant the effect will be. In the end, the light will leave the eye, endowing the next owner with its power.]
This Artifact was different from all the others Kreyn had used before. It was not his right to make mistakes, a shield, or a healing potion. It was not a sword or a spell that strengthened him.
How useful the Eye of the Broken Light would be depended on who used this Artifact.
But did Kreyn have what it took to make this his path to victory?
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
With a tremor of space, the white ring soared above Kreyn's hand as the light emanating from the stone eye grew brighter.
The shadows fled in fear, and those who lingered even for a moment burned away into nothingness.
Ardur's eyes widened as he stared at the white ring. In fact, he, like the other Origin, knew very well what it was.
"Your Epos? Do you think that will be enough against me?" Ardur frowned. He was annoyed because, in his opinion, Kreyn was not taking their battle seriously. "Enough of this! Accept your death like the warrior you seemed to me to be!"
Kreyn shook his head.
"I'm not going to die. You still don't understand that, do you?"
Tremble.
The second ring appeared above the white one, but the second ring shone with a golden light. It was neither better nor worse than the white ring, but it signified a completely different type of history.
It was Kreyn's Record. Each ring represented his histories, and each type had its own color. For the Eposes, it was white, and for the Records, it was golden.
Ardur obviously knew this well. Before their battle, he was aware that Kreyn possessed an Epos and a Record, so he was not impressed when he saw the white and golden rings.
"That's it?" Ardur asked haughtily as he waved his hand. "Look around you, Kreyn, that's not enough to dispel my darkness, because—!"
"I know."
Kreyn's sharp reply puzzled Ardur.
"Agh?"
Kreyn stretched his arm forward as the stone eye continued to shine brightly while darkness swirled around him.
"That's not enough to compare to your Order, because you need something else for that, right?"
Click.
Before Ardur could respond, Kreyn snapped his fingers.
A wave of energy emanated from him as his hair rose from the gust of wind and his eyes widened.
He looked as if sealed knowledge filled his mind, and that was not far from the truth.
It was what Kreyn had done to himself, waiting for the right moment.
But when?
At the moment when hundreds of souls decided he was a hero, dozens knew the truth, and his soul believed he was the winner.
[The Artificial Curse was lifted.]
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The purple light appeared above the golden ring, preparing for the appearance of another type of history, neither Epos nor Record.
It was something much more personal, reflecting not so much an event as a person himself.
Ardur gulped, unable to believe what he saw when the purple ring soared above Kreyn's palm.
[The previously obtained Title was unlocked.]
[Title – Darkest Light]
[Darkest Light
Salvation and heroes are always perceived as a bright light. You have become a hero to hundreds of lives, while in reality being the darkness that brought fear and despair upon them. Even the terrible darkness that was a tyrant to simple souls is not as dark as your light.
It is a reflection of your will, your mind, and the sincere faith that other souls have in you, even if they do not know and will never know how dark the light that saved them truly is.]
As with every history, a Spark for Epos and a Script for Record, the Titles also had something that reflected their importance.
Kreyn had known for a long time what it was.
[Order of the Darkest Light was obtained.]
[Order is a - …]
Crack!
At the same moment, Kreyn squeezed the stone eye with all his might as the Artifact reached its peak. His Title was his last history.
Since the Artifact had seen three different types of histories, its power was as great as it could possibly be for the First Manifest.
Streams of light surrounded Kreyn as his eyes shone brightly. All the power from the Artifact flowed toward him, but he could only use it for one move.
He didn't need more than that.
Step.
Kreyn stepped forward as he aimed his sword at Ardur.
At that moment, fear gripped Ardur's heart as he realized that now that Kreyn had revealed that he also had a Title, in that brief glimpse, they were not just equals — Kreyn surpassed him.
"This won't help you! You've lived too little in this world to stand against me!"
Ardur exclaimed as hundreds of shadows pounced on Kreyn and all the darkness from the dome rained down on him.
"Your light is nothing against my darkness, Kreyn!"
In response, Kreyn only smiled as a few words came out of his mouth. It was a spell, the same one Ardur had used to activate his Order.
"Light – Bring My Path."
