Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2801 - 120: The Golden Sinkhole (Part 3)

Chapter 2801: Chapter 120: The Golden Sinkhole (Part 3)

As for why they fled here, it is said that the famine isolated the royal domain of the Great Wilderness, and these surrounding tribes reliant on the Royal Court were forced to migrate eastward.

During the migration, this Young Master became separated from the tribe, and after much wandering, somehow ended up here.

Dan Zhu is a very good listener.

This Young Master Gongtu, having been repressed for so long, upon meeting Dan Zhu, a noble of the "same rank," felt naturally inclined to talk freely.

As they chatted, a servant brought some dishes to the table.

These dishes, though simply cooked, are quite rare during these famine years.

Young Master Gongtu stopped talking to Dan Zhu, turned to the woman beside him, gently said:

"You’ve suffered on this journey, have something to eat."

The woman nodded her head and removed her veil, revealing a surprisingly fair and beautiful face, particularly captivating in this desert setting.

The surroundings grew silent for a moment, attracting many gazes.

The woman’s beauty unknowingly fell into the eyes of many present.

But Young Master Gongtu seemed completely indifferent, not only indifferent but appeared rather proud, displaying a smirk of self-satisfaction.

He personally fed the beautiful woman, their intimate gestures displaying deep affection.

Mo Hua silently watched, not saying a word.

...

In the afternoon, Mo Hua instructed everyone to separate and gather some information.

The six thousand barbarian soldiers were still waiting; their purpose was to see if they could obtain some supplies from this oasis to prevent hunger and chaos among the soldiers.

Cultivators have the "storage" skill, and given the scale of this oasis, it’s possible a large supply is hidden to sustain six thousand barbarian soldiers.

But this oasis is mysterious, possibly backing a significant force, thus requiring prior investigation.

Mo Hua reminded Lugu: "Only gather information, don’t cause trouble, don’t engage."

Among the four, Lugu had the highest cultivation and status, and often didn’t follow orders, thus Mo Hua specifically cautioned him.

Lugu snorted coldly: "Got it."

The group dispersed, each inquiring all afternoon, and reconvened at the inn in the evening to exchange information.

Indeed, the oasis contained many stores and warehouses, which evidently stored supplies, especially meat, dry food, and some fasting pills from unknown sources.

The exact quantity wasn’t clear, but enough to relieve the pressing need.

However, to "trade" for these supplies would demand a high price.

Lugu suggested simply taking them.

As a Shugu General, his only concept of "trade" involves using force for other supplies, rather than spending actual Flower Spirit Stones.

Mo Hua found it inadequate.

Snatching someone else’s goods without cause never feels quite right.

Moreover, it’s not so easy to take by force.

Ultimately, the four decided to postpone for the night, and convene again for discussion.

At night, Lugu and Chi Feng stayed in one room, Mo Hua and Dan Zhu in another.

Dan Zhu meditated on the bed, cultivating.

Mo Hua lay on the bed, covered with a blanket, practicing Formation in his Sea of Consciousness.

While practicing, his Divine Sense suddenly reacted, sensing a strange stir.

Mo Hua opened his eyes to see that Dan Zhu had opened his eyes too, clearly realizing something was off.

Mo Hua gestured for Dan Zhu to remain silent, then leaned against the wall, extending his Divine Sense, indeed perceiving some commotion from the next room.

The room next door housed the Young Master Gongtu from the Gongtu Tribe.

Now it appeared several unexpected guests had intruded into Young Master Gongtu’s room.

These unexpected guests, deep into the night, invaded Young Master Gongtu’s room, abducted him and his concubine, then left.

Although they sneaked expertly, deliberately concealing their tracks, they still created some noise.

Not just Mo Hua, several Cultivators in neighboring rooms also sensed it.

But, adhering to the notion of avoiding trouble when possible, nobody acted.

Dan Zhu looked at Mo Hua.

Mo Hua pondered briefly and said: "Let’s go check it out."

Then Mo Hua produced two Taoist Robes made of demon-skin, draping one over himself and handing the other to Dan Zhu.

Dan Zhu glanced at the robe, then at Mo Hua.

Mo Hua feared he might overthink, thus said: "Those were seized from another tribe not long ago."

Dan Zhu nodded, unclear whether he truly believed it or simply grew accustomed.

The two donned the cloaks and left the room, encountering Lugu and Chi Feng.

Mo Hua thought these two were somewhat cumbersome, initially reluctant to bring them along; yet considering the unknown circumstances within the oasis, decided having them as enforcers might be beneficial.

Mo Hua could only retrieve two more cloaks from his Storage Bag, covering them.

The four, cloaked in invisibility, first inspected Young Master Gongtu’s room.

The room was empty, save for the shattered tables and chairs, offering little to see.

Yet Mo Hua remembered that this Young Master Gongtu had Golden Core Guards.

Mo Hua felt somewhat puzzled, so he checked the room of Gongtu’s guards, discovering the guards sprawled over a table, vomiting green fluid.

A wine pot lay on the table, the wine laced with a potent toxin.

Mo Hua frowned.

He didn’t linger further, immediately setting off to pursue the direction in which Young Master Gongtu was abducted.

After 30 minutes of pursuit, glimpses revealed several figures dressed in black, carrying two bags with people inside.

Mo Hua refrained from alerting them, maintaining a distant chase.

After trailing for some distance, the figures proceeded into a nondescript house, opening a secret door in the innermost corner, entering the basement.
