Chapter 452: Chapter 452: She Bullies Someone
What lay torn on the floor was Vera Xavier’s admission letter to Veridia University. This was ironclad evidence. Cara Preston claimed she hadn’t torn it, but who would believe her?
Aaron Cheney chimed in coldly, "How can a girl who looks so delicate be so vicious? It’s one thing to tear up... Vera Xavier’s admission letter and refuse to admit it, but to actually claim Vera Xavier framed you? You’ve got some nerve!"
He paused for a moment before adding, "I heard your mom took bribes, and you were the one who reported her. Back then, people praised you for putting justice before family. But thinking about it now, your mother was always so good to you, yet you still betrayed her. You’re truly black-hearted. The way I see it, you’re nothing but an ungrateful wretch!"
Cara Preston was seething. She lunged to pick up the scraps of paper on the floor to prove Vera Xavier had framed her, but Vera, of course, wasn’t about to give her that chance. She blocked her path, saying, "You already tore up my admission letter. Are you trying to destroy the evidence now?"
Enraged, Cara Preston glared at Vera Xavier. "Vera Xavier, the only reason you won’t let me get those paper scraps is because you have a guilty conscience! You know there was never an admission letter in that envelope!"
With tears welling in her eyes, Vera Xavier looked at her and asked, "If the admission letter wasn’t in there, then where is it?"
Her question stumped Cara Preston once again. How was *she* supposed to know where Vera Xavier’s admission letter was?
"How should I know where it is? You must have hidden it somewhere!" Cara Preston shouted.
Aaron Cheney glared at Cara Preston. "You can sure lie through your teeth. It’s obvious you’re the one who brought the admission letter from the university. If it wasn’t here, where else would it be?"
After speaking, he started helping Vera Xavier pick up the scraps of the torn admission letter, just as she had specifically instructed him to do earlier.
He was curious why Vera had given him such an instruction, but he had just returned from a trip to Yulara with her, where she had risked her own life to save his. He would follow any of her orders without question.
As he gathered the scraps, he finally understood. He discreetly picked up the blank pieces of paper and stuffed them into his pocket, leaving only the envelope with the Veridia University logo in his hand.
’As expected, Vera is something else. Her ability to set people up is simply masterful.’
Vera Xavier looked at Cara Preston with a wronged expression. "What did I ever do to you? Why do you have to hurt me like this?"
’Come to think of it, it had been a long time since she’d bullied someone like this. But against a person like Cara Preston, she could do it with a clear conscience. After all, Cara had tried to hurt her first.’
The other women present looked at Cara Preston with even more disdain and couldn’t help muttering, "Some people are just rotten to the core. They do something wrong, but instead of reflecting on it, they just push the blame onto someone else! It’s a good thing we all saw what happened today, or we might have actually been fooled by her!"
"Rona Langdon treated her so well, and she still betrayed her. Is there anything she wouldn’t do?"
"I heard she’s the one who gave Preston that cerebral hemorrhage. And now she’s going after Vera Xavier."
"The Preston Family must be cursed with the worst luck to have raised such an ungrateful wretch!"
Cara Preston was always the one to wrongly accuse others; this was the first time she had ever been on the receiving end. She was driven mad with rage and screamed, "This really has nothing to do with me! Vera Xavier is framing me! If you don’t believe me, look at the scraps on the floor!"
