Chapter 968: Xiao Chong Extra Story 36

Chapter 968: Xiao Chong Extra Story 36

The military training for freshmen lasted two weeks, and basically all the universities in Beijing staggered their schedules so their freshmen would do boot camp at this military base.

Lin Wanwan really didn’t want to think back on anything that happened during military training; the exhaustion and the heat were secondary, what she really couldn’t stand was the communal bath in the north.

As soon as you walked in it was a huge public bathhouse, a sea of bare white skin, and you even had to finish washing within fifteen minutes.

It was hard enough to push down her mental block and start showering, and she might still run into some bold girl coming over to squeeze under the same shower head!

Growing up in a little villa with her own private bathroom, this was something Lin Wanwan just couldn’t accept or get over; sometimes she’d rather not shower at all, just stay stinky, sticky, and dirty.

The only good memory she could pull from that period was probably Qixi night, when Xiao Chong bought her a pile of snacks, and the two of them sprayed themselves with thick mosquito repellent, then secretly sat under a maple tree eating snacks and watching the stars.

If it hadn’t been for military training, their first Qixi after getting together should’ve been a lot more romantic.

After the terrifying two weeks of boot camp, everyone came back to campus a shade darker.

The first thing Lin Wanwan did after returning to the dorm was to go to the cubicles in the communal bathroom and take a long, proper shower.

With that giant bathhouse as comparison, even a bathroom separated only by curtains suddenly became acceptable.

After military training, the official semester started, and the very first task was course selection.

High-quality courses were like meat thrown into a pack of wolves, there weren’t enough to go around, and they were super hard to get into. The clueless freshmen didn’t understand the tricks at all—especially kids from relatively closed-off, less developed families, they had even less experience with this.

Fresh and tender like a newly picked cucumber, Lin Wanwan was completely lost, muddleheaded and confused.

Luckily she had a fiancé who was especially good at studying and analyzing; he directly wrote a program to help her find the optimal distribution of her preference points and got her into all the classes she wanted.

Her roommates all said she must be blessed by the RNG gods and grilled her for her course-selection secrets. Lin Wanwan just gave a soft little smile.

Her secret was her fiancé, of course, but she didn’t want to share, so her eyes curved into crescents and she "acted cute" to get away with it.

Over the next month, all kinds of welcome activities were woven into their study routine.

Welcome parties, campus history museum tours, night runs, etc. etc., too many to list.

The headliner before the National Day holiday was the freshman ball. The other three girls in the dorm, aside from Lin Wanwan, were all raring to go, really looking forward to finding a crush-worthy little guy at the dance.

But Lin Wanwan wasn’t very interested, because she couldn’t dance, and she already had her own exclusive "little guy."

Actually, Lin Wanwan wasn’t the only one in the dorm who was dating. Chen Tianying had a long-distance boyfriend who was studying at Xiamen University.

And Yan Yufei had dated before too; she only cut off her crush with one clean stroke before senior year in order to sprint for Qingbei. Only Wu Xiangxiang was a truly single dog.

The afternoon after the freshman ball, Xiao Chong told her to bring her ID card and go with him to the certificate center.

"What are we going there for?" Lin Wanwan was full of curiosity.

Xiao Chong said calmly, "To transfer ownership."

Lin Wanwan asked in surprise, "Transfer what ownership?"

Xiao Chong laughed. "Didn’t I tell you before? I’m planning to bid on a judicially auctioned apartment. You don’t remember?"

Lin Wanwan really had forgotten; she’d never taken it to heart.

"Why does your apartment need my ID card?" Lin Wanwan kind of guessed, but then got awkward again.

Xiao Chong smiled and said, "Wanwan, do you always forget that you’re already my fiancée?"

Lin Wanwan lowered her head and picked at her fingers. "Even if I’m your fiancée, it doesn’t mean my name has to be on the property certificate too."

Xiao Chong pulled her hand to his chest, looked at her and chuckled. "But I want our names written together in the same little booklet."

Lin Wanwan raised her head to look at Xiao Chong, staring into the depths of his dark eyes, wanting to see clearly what he was thinking inside.

But before they’d even held eye contact for ten seconds, Xiao Chong suddenly wrapped an arm around her waist and lowered his head to kiss her.

Lin Wanwan hurriedly pushed him away—this was right under the teaching building!

Instead, Xiao Chong just tilted the brim of the sun umbrella lower, then kissed her recklessly underneath it.

Other than letting out a completely off-key "mmph," Lin Wanwan couldn’t fight back at all. Her defenses crumbled and she went weak in his arms.

After a long while, Xiao Chong finally had his fill and let her go. Facing her scolding, shy, watery gaze, he shamelessly said, "Weren’t you looking at me like that to invite me to kiss you?"

Lin Wanwan was speechless. Someone was really good at turning black into white!

Before, Lin Wanwan had always thought people who kissed in public were honestly kind of dumb, but she never expected that today she would become one of the dumb crowd herself.
