Li Chang’an immediately stood up. "Alright, prepare for battle! Everyone, with me!"

The Insect Hunter Squad assembled quickly, their gear in order, and ran toward the base’s defensive line.

"They’re finally here! I was about to grow moss waiting!" Sun Yang shouted excitedly as he ran, his Pulse Gun slung securely over his shoulder. He was practically vibrating with impatience.

"You really can’t sit still, can you?" Han Ruoxi shook her head helplessly behind him. "But this time is different. Be careful, and don’t let your gun jam!"

"Don’t worry! My baby won’t let me down!" Sun Yang grinned, looking completely at ease. As he adjusted his gear, he glanced at Li Chang’an up ahead. "Boss, what’s our specific mission? Are we attacking or defending?"

Li Chang’an kept his eyes fixed forward, his steps steady. "Don’t be hasty. We’ll get to the line first and decide based on the situation.

The Insect Race’s movements are strange this time. Don’t let your guard down!"

"I know, I know. Boss, you’ve told us not to let our guard down so many times I could recite it by heart!" Sun Yang muttered, but his pace didn’t slacken as he and the other squad members rushed to the base’s defensive line.

"Whoa, Sister Qiuyue, that’s a bit heavy. I’m just warming up!" Sun Yang chuckled sheepishly and waved his hand. "We’re the Insect Hunter Squad! Squashing a few little bugs is nothing!"

Li Chang’an stood at the front, his eyes fixed on the distance. "Bai Lin, what’s the latest?"

Bai Lin pulled up a terminal and quickly scanned the data. "Insect Race forces are approaching. They’re less than five kilometers from our position. Their numbers aren’t large, but they seem to be using some kind of strange formation. They’re moving fast!"

"A strange formation?" Li Chang’an frowned. "Is it a scattered assault? Or some kind of special tactic?"

Bai Lin continued to analyze. "Not exactly scattered. It’s more like they’re probing our line’s defensive strength. Their movement patterns are erratic, as if they’re looking for a weakness!"

"So, they might be planning to concentrate their firepower to break through a section of the line," Li Chang’an mused for a moment, then turned to Han Ruoxi. "Ruo Xi, take your Electric Superpower and reinforce the left flank. Prevent a surprise attack!"

Han Ruoxi nodded. "Understood. I’m on my way!"

"Qiuyue, you take the center. Be ready to reinforce any section of the line at a moment’s notice!" Li Chang’an continued to command.

"Don’t worry, Boss. I’ll go wherever I’m needed," Shen Qiuyue said, her tone calm and confident as she tightened her grip on her High-Energy Dueling Sword.

"Sun Yang, take your Pulse Gun and prepare to provide covering fire for the center and left flank. Once the Insect Race attacks, you need to ensure they can’t break through!" Li Chang’an clapped Sun Yang on the shoulder.

"Boss, leave it to me! This is my specialty. Guaranteed, no problem!" Sun Yang pumped his fist excitedly, his Pulse Gun already loaded.

"Bai Lin, keep monitoring enemy movements and report any changes immediately!" Li Chang’an added as a final instruction, his gaze sharp.

"Understood!" Bai Lin looked down to operate the terminal, his eyes glued to the screen.

Everyone took their positions. The atmosphere on the line instantly grew tense. No one spoke, but they all knew the coming battle could be more complex than any they had faced before.

Suddenly, a faint rumble echoed from the distance, like some massive creature moving at high speed.

"Here they come!" Sun Yang narrowed his eyes, staring into the distance. "The Insect Race forces!"

Sure enough, as the rumble grew louder, a swarm of grotesque Insect Race warriors burst out from the distant woods. They were enormous, several meters tall, yet their speed was astonishingly fast.

"Prepare for battle!" Li Chang’an roared, his Saw Chain Sword already in hand, ready to engage.

Han Ruoxi immediately raised her Superpower Bracelet. Electric Energy gathered in her palm, forming arcs of blue Lightning that snaked up her arm. A faint crackling filled the air.

"They’re here," she said in a low voice, her eyes fixed on the insects’ movements.

Shen Qiuyue stood in the center, her Dueling Sword drawn. Her gaze was calm and her steps were light, giving her an air of effortless skill.

"Hmph. Little bugs," she scoffed, charging forward without hesitation.

Meanwhile, Sun Yang shouldered his Pulse Gun and took aim at the distant Insect Race, muttering, "Just you wait. Let’s see how you like the taste of a pulse!"

"Open fire!" Li Chang’an ordered decisively.

Sun Yang pulled the trigger without hesitation. A searing Pulse Beam shot from the muzzle, striking an Insect Race warrior head-on.

The insect let out a piercing shriek and collapsed with a thud.

"Haha! See? I told you my gun wouldn’t let me down!" Sun Yang yelled excitedly.

At the same time, Han Ruoxi’s Electric Energy Lightning struck. Her Electric Energy rapidly enveloped two Insect Race warriors. The intense current made them writhe in agony before they collapsed, motionless.

"Don’t get too cocky. Not all the enemies are here yet!" Shen Qiuyue reminded him calmly. Her Dueling Sword had already met another Insect Race warrior, her swift and precise Swordsmanship leaving the creature with no way to defend itself.

Li Chang’an stood at the center of the line, his gaze like a torch. His Saw Chain Sword hummed in his hands, ready to charge into the battlefield at any moment.

"Everyone, be careful! Their attack won’t be this simple," he said calmly.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, more Insect Race warriors swarmed out of the distant woods. This wave was much larger than the first; clearly, the real assault had begun.

"Here they come! Get ’em!" Sun Yang gritted his teeth and pulled the trigger. A continuous stream of Pulse Beams shot out, hitting one insect after another.

Han Ruoxi’s Electric Energy Lightning didn’t stop either. Her Superpower seemed to be growing stronger, with electricity arcing through the air, inflicting immense damage on the insects.

Shen Qiuyue’s Swordsmanship remained flawless. Every strike was aimed at an enemy’s vital point—swift and fatal.

Li Chang’an led the other soldiers in defending the line. His Saw Chain Sword emitted a fierce hum, and with every swing, another insect fell.

The battle gradually reached a fever pitch. Although the Insect Race was numerous, the Insect Hunter Squad’s teamwork was seamless. Each member played a crucial role in their position.

However, the Insect Race’s assault didn’t seem to weaken despite their powerful barrage; on the contrary, it grew even more ferocious.

’This isn’t right. The Insect Race shouldn’t be this resilient!’ Li Chang’an frowned, cutting down an insect that lunged at him as he scanned the battlefield with a sharp gaze.

"Boss, this is bad! How are there more of these bugs the more we kill?" Sun Yang yelled, panting as he kept firing.

"Stay calm! Maintain formation! Don’t panic!" Li Chang’an roared, swinging his Saw Chain Sword again to drive back the charging enemies.

Just then, Bai Lin’s voice came through the comms. "Boss, we have a new development. It looks like the Insect Race is mobilizing more troops. We need to adjust our tactics, fast!"

Hearing this, Li Chang’an’s expression grew even colder. "On my command! Fall back to the second defensive line and prepare for a counterattack!"

The Insect Hunter Squad quickly adjusted their formation according to Li Chang’an’s orders and began an orderly retreat to the second defensive line, preparing to face the next, more ferocious assault.

"Fall back to the second defensive line! Cover each other! Don’t panic!" Li Chang’an shouted, his voice calm and composed despite the order.
