Chapter 679: Chapter 332: Don’t Think the Enemy Is Too Stupid

"I’ve sent it to your terminals!"

Bai Lin tapped a few keys on his keyboard and pushed up his glasses.

"Let’s move out!"

The team boarded their combat vehicle and headed toward the northern mining district.

On the way, Sun Yang chattered nonstop.

"So, what’s the deal with this Rebel Army? Why are they always mixed up with the Insect Race? Aren’t they afraid the insects will just turn on them and eat them all?"

"Don’t underestimate the enemy."

Shen Qiuyue said, leaning back in her seat with her eyes closed.

"The fact that they can cooperate with the Insect Race means they have some tricks up their sleeve. Don’t get careless."

"You’re right, Sister Qiuyue!"

Sun Yang nodded, then started analyzing the situation again.

"But still, I don’t think they’ll be able to escape from our grasp this time.

Our Captain is so strong, he just has to make a move and any rebels will be on their knees, begging for mercy!"

"Sun Yang, with a silver tongue like that, it’s a shame you’re not a diplomat!"

Han Ruoxi couldn’t help but laugh.

"Ruo Xi, are you complimenting me or making fun of me?"

Sun Yang wore an innocent expression.

"Figure it out yourself!"

Han Ruoxi’s smile widened.

"Everyone, quiet down!"

Li Chang’an sat in the driver’s seat, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

"Once we get there, I want everyone focused. Don’t mess this up."

The team immediately sat up straight and fell silent.

The combat vehicle stopped at the edge of the mining district. After getting out, the team quickly dispersed and took cover.

"Bai Lin, can the detector get an exact headcount?"

Li Chang’an asked in a low voice.

"Scanning now!"

Bai Lin quickly operated the device on his wrist.

"About thirty individuals, but there might be more in hiding!"

"Good!"

Li Chang’an nodded.

"Stick to the plan. Ruo Xi and Qiuyue, you’re on perimeter cover. Sun Yang, you’re with me to infiltrate.

Bai Lin, stay back for support and be ready for exfil!"

"Understood!"

The team responded in unison.

During the operation, the Rebel Army’s defensive line was indeed much tighter than expected.

Sun Yang, following behind Li Chang’an, whispered.

"Captain, the rebels have turned this place into a fortress. Can we just go in guns blazing?"

"Shut up!"

Li Chang’an didn’t even turn his head.

"Don’t give away our position!"

"Alrighty..." Sun Yang obediently shut his mouth and continued following.

The two of them sneaked into the stronghold’s interior. Just as they were about to investigate further, they suddenly heard footsteps. A few Rebel Army patrolmen were heading their way.

"What do we do?"

Sun Yang asked quietly.

Li Chang’an glanced back at him, made a "quiet" gesture with his finger, then quickly vaulted onto a nearby metal frame, his Saw Chain Sword in hand, ready for action.

The Rebel patrol drew closer, their footsteps echoing clearly beneath the metal frame.

Sun Yang pressed himself into the shadows on one side, not daring to breathe.

He turned his head and muttered under his breath.

"Captain, if we get spotted, do we just go for it? My gun isn’t even warmed up yet!"

Li Chang’an looked down at him from the frame, his face expressionless, and once again made the "quiet" gesture with his finger.

Exasperated, Sun Yang could only shut his mouth. He gripped his Pulse Gun tightly with both hands, his gaze locked on the approaching patrol.

He couldn’t help but grumble to himself.

’These Rebel Army guys are way too serious. Do they skip sleep just to catch people?’

The patrol’s footsteps grew closer, close enough that their quiet conversation could be heard.

"Captain, I’m telling you, this damn place is no place for a human. The mining area is full of dust, my nose is about to give out!"

"Less crap, we can go back once the job is done!"

Another man lowered his voice.

"Don’t let the higher-ups hear you, or you’ll be on pit-digging duty again!"

"Pit-digging? No way! Last time, an Insect Race creature tunneled out halfway through and almost ate me. This hellhole is literally Hell!"

"Just shut it and let’s finish the patrol so we can head back.

I heard a strike team might be coming tonight. The higher-ups even assigned extra manpower, said some important supplies are arriving!"

Hearing this, Sun Yang felt a surge of excitement and muttered under his breath.

"Captain, did you hear that? The ’important supplies’ they’re talking about must be a big deal! Why don’t we go for a big score?"

Li Chang’an didn’t reply. His eyes were fixed on the patrolmen, his hand already resting silently on the switch of his Saw Chain Sword.

The patrolmen reached the spot where the two were hiding and suddenly stopped. One of them frowned.

"Do you feel like... something’s a little off around here?"

The other man immediately became alert and said in a low voice.

"Are you just being paranoid? Who would dare to trespass here?"

"But I just have a weird feeling..." As he spoke, the man reached for the weapon at his waist.

"Better be careful. The defenses in this mining district are actually pretty weak. What if there really are enemies..."

Before he could finish, Li Chang’an leaped down from the metal frame. With a soft WHIR from the Saw Chain Sword, he sliced the man’s weapon in two.

Before the patrolmen could react, he had already spun around and kicked another one away.

"Move!"

Li Chang’an barked the command in a low voice, but it was loud enough to snap Sun Yang back to his senses instantly.

Sun Yang immediately raised his Pulse Gun, aimed at the remaining patrolmen, and pulled the trigger.

A beam of blue Energy shot through the air, striking its target with precision.

"Nice shot!"

Sun Yang couldn’t help but exclaim.

"Captain, that kick was so cool! But we need to hurry now. We made a fair bit of noise, and the people in their base will probably notice soon!"

"Cut the crap. Clean up the scene!"

Li Chang’an said coldly, quickly dragging the downed patrolmen into a corner to hide them.

"Hurry up. Leave no trace!"

Sun Yang nodded, muttering as he dragged a body.

"I knew this mission wasn’t going to be simple. We just got in and it’s already a mess... Say, Captain, what do you think those important supplies they were talking about could be? Insect Race combat weapons? Or some kind of genetic Enhancing Potion?"
