Enlightenment: Attaining the Dao at Age 8

Chapter 751 - 368: Your Marksmanship Is Truly Unbelievable

Chapter 751: Chapter 368: Your Marksmanship Is Truly Unbelievable

Han Ruoxi, sitting off to the side, rolled her eyes.

"Your marksmanship is just incredible. You don’t shoot the Insect Race, you specialize in shooting grass!"

"What do you know?"

Sun Yang took several large gulps of his drink.

"That was strategy. What if the Insect Race was hiding in the grass? I was clearing it out beforehand to prevent them from ambushing us!"

"Alright, alright, you two stop arguing!"

Li Chang’an walked over and set his equipment aside.

"Bai Lin, have you finished organizing the data you just recorded?"

"It’s all organized!"

Bai Lin, standing a short distance away, checked his terminal.

"I’ve already uploaded it to Command. We should get some feedback soon!"

"Mm, let’s rest for now and wait for news."

Li Chang’an nodded, then sat down and rubbed his shoulders.

"Brother Chang’an, can I ask you something?"

Han Ruoxi suddenly leaned in, her expression a little hesitant.

"How long do you think... a squad like ours can last?"

"What do you mean, ’how long can we last’?"

Li Chang’an frowned.

"Are you afraid of the Insect Race, or do you think we’re not good enough?"

"It’s not that... I just feel like we’re too short-staffed. What happens if we run into a large group of the Insect Race?"

Han Ruoxi asked in a low voice.

"Don’t the other Combat Groups have teams of over a hundred people?"

"They’re them, and we’re us!"

Li Chang’an patted her shoulder.

"The Insect Hunter Squad may be small, but we’re flexible, and our combat effectiveness is no worse than theirs.

Besides, I’m here. What are you afraid of?"

"Right, right! With our Captain Li around, you can just rest easy, Eldest Miss Han!"

Sun Yang chimed in.

"If we really run into the Insect Race, we’ll just work our magic and hit them so hard they’ll question their own existence!"

"Enough with the smart mouth!"

Shen Qiuyue walked over and placed her weapon on the equipment rack.

"Sun Yang, isn’t it time to clean your Pulse Gun? I think it jammed after the last fight with the Insect Race!"

"Aiya, Sister Qiuyue, you worry yourself sick over me!"

Sun Yang scratched his head.

"Fine, fine, I’ll go take care of it now!"

"Don’t just say you will. I’ll still have to keep an eye on you later!"

Shen Qiuyue said coldly.

"I know, I know!"

Sun Yang grabbed his Pulse Gun and walked toward the equipment room, muttering to himself.

The training ground fell quiet for a moment. Only Han Ruoxi was fiddling with her terminal, head bowed, looking at who-knows-what.

"Ruo Xi, what are you up to now?"

Li Chang’an glanced at her.

"I’m reading today’s base report!"

Han Ruoxi looked up.

"I heard the Combat Group next to us lost a team today. It seems they were ambushed by the Insect Race!"

"What happens to them is none of our business!"

Li Chang’an stood up and stretched a little.

"Remember, just do your own job and don’t worry about others!"

"Fine!"

Han Ruoxi pouted and went back to reading the report.

A little while later, Sun Yang came out of the equipment room, a repair tool in his hand.

"Chang’an, back in the equipment room, Instructor Wei said he’d be calling for us tonight!"

Sun Yang said as he walked.

"He’s probably assigning another mission!"

"Alright, we’ll wait for his call."

Li Chang’an glanced at him.

"You fixed your gun?"

"Fixed it a while ago!"

Sun Yang tossed the tool onto a table.

"This thing is too simple. Took care of it in a jiffy!"

"Simple my ass. We’ll see what you do when it jams again during a fight!"

Shen Qiuyue said coldly.

"Sister Qiuyue, that hurts! My, Sun Yang’s, equipment is always top-of-the-line. How could it have any problems!"

Sun Yang patted his chest.

"Stop bragging. When a real problem comes up, don’t expect me to clean up your mess!"

Shen Qiuyue rolled her eyes.

Just as she spoke, a communication from Instructor Wei appeared on the terminal, his voice brief and powerful.

"Insect Hunter Squad, assemble in the operations command room at 1930 tonight. You have a new mission!"

"Roger!"

After replying, Li Chang’an looked up at his squad members.

"You heard him. Assembly tonight. Eat early, don’t be late!"

"Another job already..." Sun Yang sighed.

"This life of ours... it really is never-ending!"

"If you’re tired, you can apply for a transfer. Go cook in logistics!"

Li Chang’an teased with a smile.

"Though with your cooking skills, I doubt even the Insect Race could stomach it!"

"Get outta here!"

Sun Yang retorted with a laugh, standing up to stretch.

"Alright, alright, I’m going to eat. Don’t want to go on a mission on an empty stomach!"

The squad members dispersed to get ready.

During mealtime, the cafeteria was as packed as ever, filled with a mix of laughter, chatter, and the clatter of chopsticks.

"The food’s pretty good today, there are chicken legs!"

Han Ruoxi sat down with her tray, her face full of joy.

"All you see are the chicken legs!"

Sun Yang sat down with his tray.

"But it is a bit better today. They even gave me an extra spoonful of soup!"

"The cafeteria chefs must be in a good mood!"

Li Chang’an said casually, taking a bite of bread.

"Eat up, don’t dawdle. We don’t have much time!"

"I know!"

Han Ruoxi lowered her head and gnawed on a chicken leg, her movements swift.

Soon, after finishing their meal, everyone returned to the equipment room to check their gear.

"Brother Chang’an, do you think tonight’s mission will be reconnaissance again?"

Han Ruoxi asked while inspecting her Armor.

"Don’t know. We’ll find out when we get there."

Li Chang’an adjusted the Power System of his Saw Chain Sword.

"No matter the mission, we have to be prepared!"

"Easy for you to say!"

Sun Yang grumbled while wiping his Pulse Gun.

"Having to be on edge every time... I’ve really had enough!"

"Being on edge means you’re still afraid to die. That’s a good thing. All that matters is staying alive."

Li Chang’an said lightly.

The assembly time arrived quickly. The Insect Hunter Squad, fully geared up, headed for the operations command room.

The room was brightly lit. Instructor Wei stood in the center, with several large tactical maps spread out on a table.
