Chapter 795 - 390: Zhou Ze’s Amnesia

Chapter 795: Chapter 390: Zhou Ze’s Amnesia

"Understood!" everyone responded.

Li Chang’an lit an incendiary bomb and hurled it into the cave.

BOOM!

The bomb exploded. A flash of light consumed the cave entrance as flames erupted.

From deep within the cave came the shrill shrieks of Black Obsidian Beetles as they writhed and struggled in the fire.

"It worked!" Sun Yang exclaimed.

"Don’t celebrate just yet," Li Chang’an said calmly. "Let’s go take a look."

He led the way into the cave.

The cave’s interior was a charred, blackened mess. Beetle carcasses and unidentifiable bones were scattered everywhere.

The air was thick with a pungent, scorched odor.

"Doesn’t look like... there’s anything special here," Shen Qiuyue said, glancing around.

"No, there is," Li Chang’an said firmly. "Look over there!"

He pointed to a corner deep in the cave.

In the corner, something black was squirming faintly.

"What is that?" Sun Yang asked curiously.

"Let’s go see," Li Chang’an said, approaching with caution.

As they drew closer, they saw it clearly. It was a person!

Someone completely encased in the carapace of a Black Obsidian Beetle!

"Zhou Ze!" Li Chang’an cried out in shock.

He rushed forward, swung his Saw Chain Sword, and split open the carapace.

The carapace shattered, revealing Zhou Ze’s pale face.

His eyes were squeezed shut, his face deathly pale. His breathing was faint; he was on the brink of death.

"Zhou Ze! Wake up!" Li Chang’an shook Zhou Ze’s body, trying to wake him.

Zhou Ze didn’t respond.

"Captain, he... I don’t think he’s going to make it," Shen Qiuyue’s voice trembled.

"No, he’s not dead!" Li Chang’an said frantically. "He’s still breathing! He still has a pulse!"

"Then what do we do? We have to save him!" Sun Yang urged.

"We’re taking him back to the Interstellar Warrior Base to find a medical officer!" Li Chang’an decided without hesitation.

He hoisted Zhou Ze onto his back, preparing to leave the cave.

Just then, a strange sound echoed from deep within the cave.

A dull, muffled sound, as if some enormous creature was stirring.

"What’s that sound?" Shen Qiuyue asked, on alert.

"I don’t know, but it’s definitely not good," Li Chang’an’s expression changed. "Go, now!"

With Zhou Ze on his back, he quickened his pace.

Just as he stepped out of the cave, a foul gust of wind blasted them from behind.

A giant Black Obsidian Beetle suddenly rushed out of the cave!

It was bigger than any they had seen before, a full two to three meters long, with a thick carapace and ferocious mandibles that gleamed with a chilling luster.

It let out an enraged shriek and lunged at Li Chang’an and his team.

"Holy shit, it’s a monster!" Sun Yang screamed, scared out of his wits.

"Cut the crap and run!" Li Chang’an roared.

Carrying Zhou Ze, he sprinted for his life.

Shen Qiuyue, Sun Yang, and Han Ruoxi followed closely behind.

The giant Black Obsidian Beetle chased relentlessly, its speed astonishing.

"Captain, it’s no good! We’re about to be caught!" Shen Qiuyue panted.

"We can’t stop!" Li Chang’an gritted his teeth. "We have to get Zhou Ze back!"

"But—" Shen Qiuyue started to say, but Li Chang’an cut her off.

"No buts! Just run!" Li Chang’an screamed, his voice raw.

The group fled for their lives.

The giant Black Obsidian Beetle closed in, its sharp claws slashing through the air with a piercing whistle.

Just as it was about to overtake Li Chang’an, it opened its cavernous maw to bite down on him.

"Captain, watch out!" Shen Qiuyue cried in alarm.

She swung her Dueling Sword, thrusting it toward the Black Obsidian Beetle’s mouthparts.

But when the sword tip struck its carapace, it was like hitting solid steel. Sparks flew, but it couldn’t break through.

In the nick of time, a beam of blue light shot down from the sky, striking the giant Black Obsidian Beetle dead center.

BOOM!

The blast was deafening. The Black Obsidian Beetle let out a piercing shriek as its massive body was sent flying.

"Who’s there?" Li Chang’an blurted out, his heart pounding.

"It’s us!" a familiar voice came from the sky.

Li Chang’an猛地抬头.

Several spaceships of the Battle Team Alliance came into view.

"Minister Su!" Li Chang’an was both surprised and delighted.

"Li Chang’an, are you all right?" Su Wan’s voice came from the ship’s loudspeaker, carrying a trace of concern.

"We’re fine! Minister Su, thank you for arriving in time!" Li Chang’an shouted back towards the sky.

"Don’t mention it. It’s our duty," Su Wan’s voice remained steady. "Board the ship immediately. We’ll handle the rest."

"Understood!" Li Chang’an didn’t hesitate at all.

He called to the others and quickly boarded the nearest ship.

The ship’s engines roared as it slowly ascended, leaving the perilous Kars Mine Area behind.

The other Battle Team Alliance ships stayed behind, their cannons firing in unison, their target aimed directly at the giant Black Obsidian Beetle.

...

「Interstellar Warrior Base - Medical Bay.」

The sterile scent of disinfectant filled the room, creating an oppressive atmosphere.

Zhou Ze lay quietly on a medical bed, hooked up to an array of complex instruments.

Li Chang’an, Shen Qiuyue, Sun Yang, Han Ruoxi, along with Su Wan and Liu Na who had rushed over, all stood silently by the bed. The atmosphere was grim.

The doctor’s expression was focused as he meticulously carried out the final examination.

Time seemed to stretch, each second dragging on for an eternity.

Finally, the doctor slowly raised his head.

"Doctor, how is he?" Li Chang’an immediately stepped forward and asked urgently.

"He’s out of immediate danger for now, but he hasn’t regained consciousness," the doctor said, his voice calm but heavy. "He has sustained multiple severe injuries and will need a long time to recover."

’As long as he’s out of danger...’ Li Chang’an’s taut nerves finally eased slightly.

"Doctor, when do you think he’ll wake up?" Su Wan asked, her brow furrowed.

"That... is hard to say." The doctor hesitated. "His brain was subjected to a shock from an unknown energy. There may be some aftereffects."

"Aftereffects? What kind of aftereffects?" Liu Na’s face paled, her voice turning sharp.

"Amnesia, a vegetative state... even worse outcomes are possible." The doctor’s words struck everyone like a hammer blow to the chest.
