Chapter 1848: Chapter 1848: That Guy Is Ruthlessly Fierce
A moment later, two figures swiftly flashed out of the room and then retraced their steps, flying out from Long Wucuo’s courtyard, from start to finish, without attracting anyone’s attention. It was evident just how much chaos Long Wudang’s fire had stirred up.
After leaving Long Residence, Han Yan finally calmed down. She wasn’t as carefree as Ling Baobao; claiming that she wasn’t nervous at all would be a lie.
Worried that the Long Family might have spies outside, Han Yan didn’t dare to dash at full speed and instead pretended to be nonchalant, walking leisurely toward the Gu family house.
Only when she was far away from Long Residence did Han Yan completely relax. A sudden, inexplicable unease rose within her, like a hidden venomous snake watching her every move.
Concentrating her Divine Sense, Han Yan repeatedly scanned the area and finally "saw" a shadow following her. She hadn’t lowered her guard along the way, but only after repeated checks did she notice its presence, showing how cleverly hidden it was and that the person’s cultivation wasn’t weak.
Could it be that in the end, they were discovered by the Long Family? This was troubling.
"Who’s there?" Han Yan’s heart sank, and she stopped.
"It’s me." Gao Weihu revealed himself.
"Why are you here too?" Han Yan breathed a sigh of relief.
"Worried something might go wrong, I came to check on you. I couldn’t help with much else, but covering the rear was something I could do. Though, it seems I was redundant; you left no loose ends," Gao Weihu said.
"Thank you." While she guessed Gao Weihu wasn’t worried about her safety but rather concerned about the Five-Colored Soul Pearl she carried, a word of thanks was still due for his effort to come out in the middle of the night.
"By the way, what exactly did that guy burn down to cause such a commotion?" Han Yan asked in a whispered tone. After scanning with her Divine Sense a few times, she confirmed there was no one else around.
"It seems it was the Long Family Ancestral Hall. The Long Family has been rooted in Tianyang City for over a hundred thousand years, and so has that hall, holding great significance for the Long Family," Gao Weihu replied and then added with a sigh, "That guy, he really didn’t hold back."
Han Yan and Ling Baobao were left speechless. Long Wudang truly was ruthless, daring to burn even his own ancestral hall!
But they didn’t know that Long Wudang hadn’t initially planned to set fire to the hall; he was forced by Han Yan’s "Ten Thousand Ants Devouring Heart Pill."
A mere Heart Soothing Pill could scare Long Wudang so much; it’s hard to imagine the shadow Han Yan had cast in Eldest Young Master Long’s heart.
"Let’s go, I’ll give you a ride." After leaving the inner city, ensuring there were no risks, Gao Weihu summoned a prepared carriage to escort Han Yan and her companion back to the Gu family.
They didn’t notice the cold-faced man in the shadows behind them, staring at their departing figures thoughtfully.
"Mo Jiu, go investigate her background," the man waved, speaking.
"Yes, sir," a young man cloaked in a cape responded.
"Her Divine Sense is strong, be careful not to expose yourself," the man reminded.
"Understood," the young man bowed and quickly disappeared into the darkness.
...
Returning to the Gu family, everyone else was already asleep. Sikong Qinglan and Shen Yuhe, however, were still waiting anxiously in the courtyard. Although Han Yan hadn’t explicitly told them what she was doing, they could guess and were naturally worried, fearing Han Yan might be in danger.
"My lady!" As Han Yan’s figure appeared at the entrance of the courtyard, they all stood up at the same time, nearly moved to tears with joy.
"Why aren’t you resting yet?" Han Yan asked.
"With you not back, how could we sleep?" Sikong Qinglan said with a wry smile.
This Master Priest was commendable in all aspects, just sometimes too bold. But then again, this kind of courage was admirable. Without it, the Huayu Temple would have long been bullied into submission by the likes of Long Wudang and Ou Mingzhi, unable to hold their heads high, let alone thrive as they do today.
"Did you succeed?" Compared to Sikong Qinglan, Shen Yuhe was more carefree. Seeing Han Yan and her companion return safely, all her anxiety and worries vanished, and she eagerly asked.
Han Yan smiled slightly and nodded.
"I told you, if the Master Priest takes action, there’s no way it could fail. See, wasn’t I right?" Shen Yuhe laughed heartily.
"Did you say that? I seem to recall your eyes turning red with anxiety," Sikong Qinglan looked at Shen Yuhe with puzzled eyes.
"Shut up!" Having the Heavenly Secret pointed out by Sikong Qinglan, Shen Yuhe blushed with embarrassment.
Han Yan glanced at Sikong Qinglan, then at Shen Yuhe, and finally at Wen Gaoren, who had also been waiting all this time. Warmth filled her heart.
"Come, let’s go inside, and I’ll show you what I gained tonight," Han Yan said.
Sikong Qinglan and the others, already curious about the legendary Chaos God Sword, immediately followed her inside.
Although there was nothing remarkable about the appearance of the Chaos God Sword, with their cultivation, they could sense the chaotic aura that could lead one’s Divine Sense astray, leaving them all in awe. Even though experimenting with the sword’s power wasn’t convenient, with this sword, a Divine Priest could kill a Divine Heart Priest, which was likely not just a rumor.
"Hey, what’s engraved here?" Sikong Qinglan stroked the longsword enviously and suddenly exclaimed.
The others leaned in and discovered rows of extremely small characters engraved on the sword’s blade. The engravings were very shallow; if not for Sikong Qinglan’s touch, they might not have noticed them until now.
"Heart, the Dao of God, using Qi to direct the heart, causing chaos in all things, anything with form is illusion, the formless truth is the true nature... what does this mean, it’s so strange?" Shen Yuhe concentrated her eyesight, finally making out the small characters, but she was baffled and spoke curiously.
"Could it be a secret manual of Divine Arts, but it doesn’t quite seem like it. Could it be the sword casting heart method of a priestly predecessor?" Sikong Qinglan also questioned, puzzled.
Han Yan also found it unlikely to be Divine Arts. This series of mnemonics was vastly different from the Divine Arts she had cultivated, and it seemed more plausible to be sword casting insights.
"Heart, the Dao of God, using Qi to direct the heart, causing chaos in all things..." Han Yan slowly recited word by word, as a Spirit Light flashed in her mind.
This mnemonic, upon closer examination, actually bore some resemblance to the Array Formation Mantra in the Eight Gates Divine Formation. Could it be that this sword casting heart method also originates from Eight Desolate God Fall!
The more Han Yan thought, the more likely it seemed, and her recently calmed heart couldn’t help but feel a bit excited again.
"Let’s stop thinking about it for now. It’s late; everyone should rest early," Han Yan said.
"Master Priest, you should rest early as well," Sikong Qinglan and the others, their excitement subsided, bid their goodbyes and returned to their rooms.
