Chapter 648: The Banquet

When they got to the dining hall, Qian Shi sat with Lin Xuan Qi and his family member while the other guests sat at the other tables that were set up for them.

"These dishes are my favorite and I hope they are suitable to your taste." Lin Xuan Qi stretched out his hand at the dishes and said.

"You are being too modest." Qian smiled and shook his head at Lin Xuan Qi.

He had tried out the food made with the Lin Clan Taste Transcendent Essence before, so he was sure that the dishes that were in front of him would at least be as savory as the ones he had had, or even more so.

When he picked up his chopsticks, the old eunuch stopped him and said, "Your highness, please let me test these dishes before you consume them."

Qian Shi frowned and gave out a sigh.

He gave the old eunuch a nod and waited for him.

The old eunuch started with the roasted chicken that was in front of him.

And he was surprised by how well it was roasted.

When he put a piece of the roasted chicken near his mouth, the aroma from the roasted skin went into his nose and his saliva secreted uncontrollably.

He took a bite at it and the roasted skin gave out a crunching sound.

It was roasted to perfection.

If it had been roasted for a little longer, it would have been charred, and if it hadn’t been roasted as much, the skin wouldn’t have been as crunchy as it was now.

Then, it was the tenderness of the meat that hit him.

The meat contrasted well with the skin and it complemented the greasiness of the skin.

There was juice from the meat that was still trapped within and it filled his mouth in an instant when he chewed on it.

The old eunuch couldn’t help but close his eyes and savor the heavenly taste he was experiencing.

Old Heng, young master Chew and his friends glanced at the old eunuch’s reaction and they weren’t sure if he was enjoying it or if there were some issues with the food.

With how great the rice noodles, rice cake with savory sauce and spring rolls were, they were sure that the food in Lin Mansion would be great.

Qian Shi glanced at the old eunuch and gave out a fake cough.

"I’m sorry, your highness..." The old eunuch got out of his little indulgence and opened his eyes again.

He bowed to Qian Shi apologetically.

"The food was too delicious so I was a little distracted by it..."

"That’s a surprise coming from you." Qian Shi said and he glanced over at the roasted chicken.

The old eunuch was someone who had tasted some of the best that Da Qian had to offer, including the imperial palace.

And from the old eunuch’s compliment to the roasted chicken, Qian Shi was intrigued by how it tasted.

"The roasted chicken is safe for consumption, your highness. Let me move on to the other dishes next." The old eunuch bowed at Qian Shi and said.

Qian Shi nodded his head and waited for the old eunuch.

The same thing happened when the old eunuch went on to taste the steamed fish, braised beef, ginseng chicken soup and many others.

Every one of the dishes was as good as the roasted chicken.

Old Heng, young master Chew and their friends looked on from their tables and were getting more and more eager to have a taste of the food.

Somehow, the old eunuch’s reaction after trying out every dish made the dishes much more appealing than they were and they couldn’t wait.

"Your highness, all of the dishes are safe for consumption." The old eunuch bowed and said when he finally finished testing if the dishes were safe for consumption.

Qian Shi gave out a sigh and he glanced over at Lin Xuan Qi, "I’m so sorry about this."

Lin Xuan Qi cupped his hands at Qian Shi and said, "I understand, your highness.

"And here’s a toast for your highness, it’s my honor and pleasure to have you as a guest with us here in Hong Feng City."

He picked up the cup of wine in front of him and gestured it at Qian Shi.

The others also picked up their wine cups, and they turned around at Qian Shi with them.

Qian Shi also picked up his wine cup and said, "It’s my honor to have the opportunity to savor all the food here."

All of them downed the wine and the feast started.

Qian Shi had been waiting for so long and he picked up some of the roasted chicken first.

And to his surprise, it was as good as what the old eunuch had said it was.

The crunchy skin covered with a thin layer of oil was the best he had ever had. As for the tender meat that came with it, the tenderness of the meat was something he had never had before.

It was the same experience for Old Heng, young master Chew and their friends.

They were surprised at how great the food tasted and some were even thinking about asking Lin Xuan Qi to expand the food selection of the franchise business.

Their talk about business was what Lin Xuan Qi wanted.

He also began to talk about business with Qian Shi while Qian Shi savored the food.

While he was doing that, he allowed the conversations to be heard by the Qing Feng Sect disciples who were keeping an eye on them, making it seem like an ordinary business gathering to the Qing Feng Sect disciples.

Finally, as the banquet went on, Qian Shi’s face was flustered by the wine and he said, "I might have to excuse myself to freshen up from the fine wine I’ve had."

Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head and said, "I will get the servants to have a room ready for you, your highness."

He glanced over at Xiu who was standing by the side and she quickly turned around to get it done.
