Chapter 538: Invisible Aura

Lin Feng’s eyes were fixed on the entrance of the pit with a slight frown on his face. Something felt odd here because looking at it made his instincts tingle slightly, as if there was something ominous about this pit which wasn’t visible to his eyes.

"Senior sister, is this spirit mine completely explored by the sect?"

There were a few cultivators present around the entrance, and they all immediately turned their heads towards them as they landed.

One specific odd thing that Lin Feng noticed immediately was that they all seemed quite tired given their expressions.

He didn’t get time to observe their condition as a man came out of the pavilion with a slightly amused expression as he saw Lin Feng before looking at Sun Xiurong with a smile," Sister Sun, are you here for managing this pavilion now?"

Sun Xiurong nodded," Yes.."

The man nodded and looked at Lin Feng," Who might this junior be, and in what offense had he been sent here?"

Lin Feng was a little surprised hearing that, not because this person didn’t know him, but because of his assumption that his presence here must be the result of some offense he had committed.

Sun Xiurong shook her head," Pass me the token, here is the parchment of proof of this mission.."

The man wasn’t offended by Sun Xiurong’s dismissive nature, as this was how it normally went when someone tried to converse with her. He smiled and threw the token of the pavilion towards her," Alright, Sister Sun, take care, the effects of deterioration on the soul have been increasing for the past month, this is the reason the new missions only allow a maximum of one month stay here.."

Sun Xiurong caught the token with her spiritual sene before walking towards the small pavilion which could be counted as even a residence in some sense. She was already aware of the matter this person spoke of, this was why the receptionist didn’t want to permit this mission to her, and when she insisted, he only gave her a parchment which allowed just a week of stay for her.

She had done this mission in the past too, in fact, this was the mission which she had done the most from the time she joined Mysterious Heaven Sect. The reason was simple because no one could enter inside this residence without the permission of the person who was holding the token and this give her a sense of peace which was hard to find anywhere else after leaving the sword pavilion.

The man glanced at Sun Xiurong’s back as she left before shaking his head with a sigh and leaving.

Lin Feng, on the other hand, understood the reason why he felt that these cultivators were tired after hearing what the man had just said, their souls seemed to be affected.

He didn’t ponder on it as Sun Xiurong was going to explain the real reason for it, so he just followed her.

Soon, they entered inside the pavilion which was as simple as it could get without even a courtyard. There were two floors, and Sun Xiurong brought him to the top floor and went inside a specific chamber, which had one seating chair with a reception-like setup.

"It’s been a while since I have come here.."

Sun Xiurong spoke with remembrance and waved her hand to take out her own chair before moving the other one towards Lin Feng," Junior brother, please take a seat.."

Lin Feng nodded and sat down before looking at her," So what is special about this spirit mine, senior sister? I am quite curious about it now.."

Sun Xiurong tilted her head slightly before showing a small smile which looked quite charming in Lin Feng’s eyes.

"Junior brother, so even you can get curious, till now it is always the other way around whenever I have talked to you.."

Lin Feng smiled," Senior sister forget about that, you should smile more, it’s quite soothing to the eyes.."

Sun Xiurong blushed a little inwardly before shaking her head," Let’s talk about this mine, junior brother, tell me, when you landed on the ground, did you feel anything affecting your soul?"

Lin Feng shook his head," I felt nothing.."

Sun Xiurong gave a slight nod," That’s good then, you see, there is an invisible aura inside the spirit mine which affects the soul of a cultivator, and till date, Mysterious Heaven Sect had been unable to determine the exact reason because no one was able to go too deep inside this spirit mine."

Lin Feng was a little intrigued," Even the head elders?"
