Chapter 600: Reunion With The Heavenly Physician

Chapter 600: Reunion With The Heavenly Physician

The Xuanhuang Heart Refinement Sutra activated on its own. Within a few breaths, the injuries to his divine sense had vanished without a trace.

Not only did he dismantle the Formless Killing Mechanism with a gesture, but he could strike my divine sense from that distance.

If not for the protection of Heavenly Venerable Untroubled's statue, my sea of consciousness would have been severely damaged.

Li Fan looked down at the Heavenly Venerable World Manifestation statue in his hand. It pulsed with faint white light before dissolving away, melting into nothing.

Old Man Fisher... those above Dao Unity are truly terrifying.

Startled as he was, Li Fan felt no fear. A flicker of excitement passed through his eyes.

He hadn't expected things to go so smoothly.

When he sensed Han Yi wandering in a daze toward the heartlands of the Myriad Immortals Alliance and stopping in Luoyan Province, Li Fan had already begun to see how things might unfold.

Previously, he had used the Cloudwater Dream Illusion Art to plant memories into Han Yi's mind, including Azure Wind trapping the sword and Old Man Fisher's movements over the years. The plan was to use Han Yi as a messenger, steering him toward Old Man Fisher so that the news of the sword fragment's location would reach the old man naturally.

Li Fan had assumed Han Yi would need considerable guidance to locate Old Man Fisher across so many provinces. But perhaps it was heavenly providence, or perhaps some unseen hand was moving the pieces from behind the scenes. Either way, Han Yi had moved with unexpected speed, far beyond anything Li Fan had predicted. He took almost no detours, heading straight for Old Man Fisher's location.

Old Man Fisher represented a rare opportunity to every cultivator. Those in the heartlands of the Myriad Immortals Alliance were always looking for his traces, and once found, the news would spread quickly.

As the saying goes: everyone helps me, and I help everyone. Old Man Fisher also tended to linger in the same area for a time, so his general whereabouts could be tracked and confirmed.

Having lived through countless simulation cycles, Li Fan knew this well.

Witnessing Old Man Fisher firsthand through the perspective of heaven and earth filled him with deep satisfaction. His scheme to ignite a grand battle between Old Man Fisher, the Heavenly Physician, and Fuzi was on the verge of succeeding.

When he had used the Cloudwater Dream Illusion Art to plant those memories in Han Yi, he had also left behind a wisp of aura carrying Heaven-Scorning's Law within Han Yi's body. The trace was extraordinarily faint, one even Li Fan himself would have struggled to detect. But if he deliberately triggered its eruption, he was confident Old Man Fisher would not miss it.

At that moment, Li Fan would be able to see the location where Azure Wind trapped the sword through the memories in Han Yi's mind. And Old Man Fisher, in turn, would see the scene of the Heavenly Physician appearing at Cloudwater Palace from those same memories.

Whether it was Fuzi or Old Man Fisher, Li Fan was certain both harbored a deep, irreconcilable hatred for the Heavenly Physician. After retrieving the Heaven-Scorning Sword and recovering a measure of his strength, Old Man Fisher could surely cause that Heavenly Physician no small amount of trouble.

The plan was elegant.

And then Han Yi had to stumble.

Old Man Fisher had appeared before him no fewer than a dozen times, yet each time Han Yi failed to notice anything unusual about him. Li Fan, tailing him the entire way, shook his head repeatedly.

He couldn't risk exposing himself. He had no choice but to observe from a distance and wait.

Fortunately, though things veered off course, they had ultimately found their way back to the intended path.

When Han Yi, completely out of his wits, kowtowed and begged Old Man Fisher, even Li Fan had to silently admire the man's nerve.

But when Old Man Fisher glanced upward, Li Fan immediately felt that something was very wrong.

Fortunately, I was prepared this time. I'm no longer the naive Foundation Establishment cultivator I once was.

He drew a slow breath to steady himself. Feeling refreshed, he considered what to do next.

If nothing goes wrong, Old Man Fisher should now know everything about the affairs of the Congyun Sea. He's likely on his way there already.

When immortals fight, mortals suffer. My true self should stay well clear of that commotion.

Li Fan shifted his attention to his avatar, Zhou Qing'ang.

By now, the upheaval in the Congyun Sea had gradually settled. Cultivators were pouring their energy into cultivation and studying the techniques they had recently redeemed, and the Administration Hall had grown unusually quiet.

Without attracting any notice, the avatar Zhou Qing'ang made his way all the way to Cloudwater Palace. The area was deserted, with only the occasional small group of cultivators passing through.

He paused at the entrance, not rushing inside, but instead waiting patiently.

Three days later, a sudden gust of wind tore past, snapping his robes. Zhou Qing'ang looked up at the sky, reached out a hand, and felt the wind strengthening.

Excitement stirred in his chest.

Old Man Fisher is in position. Will Fuzi come?

Based on everything he had experienced, he was almost certain the answer was yes. The aura from the Heavenly Physician's figurine had been enough to draw Fuzi in before. In this lifetime, with their old acquaintance Old Man Fisher present as well, there was every reason for Fuzi to appear.

The time when Fuzi had originally manifested was close.

Therefore, Li Fan concluded that his scheme for this lifetime was sure to succeed!

Next, I just need to find a good vantage point.

Li Fan took a gourd of fine wine from his storage ring, gave it an appreciative pat, and walked into Cloudwater Palace.

He blazed through three trials in quick succession, then did not leave. Instead, he poured the wine and settled in to chat idly with Senior Brother Qin, waiting with patient unhurry as time crept forward.

Senior Brother Qin, naturally, had no concept of boredom.

But the moment Li Fan had long been waiting for still did not come, and a faint unease began to gather at the back of his mind.

"Haha! Junior Brother, you're not being honest with me. You're sitting here drinking with your senior brother, but your mind is a hundred li away! Out with it, have you taken a fancy to some junior sister? It's fine, tell me everything. If the two of you are well-matched, I might even help put in a good word. And a senior sister isn't out of the question either!"

Senior Brother Qin took a big swig from his gourd, half-drunk, roaring with laughter.

Li Fan was about to reply when he felt the entire world begin to shake.

Senior Brother Qin went rigid.

Then he began to tremble.

"Heavenly Physician..."

All traces of drunkenness vanished as he spat the words out through gritted teeth.

Boom!

The illusion shattered layer by layer. When Li Fan reappeared outside the main gate of Cloudwater Palace, the first thing he saw was Old Man Fisher and the Heavenly Physician, standing opposite each other.

The Heavenly Physician's presence within Cloudwater Palace drew the same chorus of grief and resentment as before. Yet it was noticeably muted compared to the previous life.

It was as if something—or someone—had given them pause. Even with such hatred festering in their hearts, they dared not cry out freely or vent their fury.

Old Man Fisher stared at the Heavenly Physician. The black baleful qi coiling around him seethed and churned like a boiling cauldron, yet there was no sign of the Heaven-Scorning Sword fragment in his hand.

He said nothing. The killing intent in his eyes was unmistakable, but for reasons unknown, he held himself back and did not strike.

The Heavenly Physician's expression was far less severe. He wore a look of mild curiosity.

"Interesting," he said. "Heavenly Severer, have you regained your memories?"
