Chapter 131: Have Her Monitor Lily

Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Have Her Monitor Lily

Afraid Terence Woods would plunge the knife into his chest, Lily rushed forward to stop him. "Don’t do anything stupid!"

Terence Woods grabbed Lily’s hand, his voice full of pain. "Lily, if you divorce me, I won’t be able to go on..."

"Stop pushing me!" Lily exclaimed, completely exasperated.

"Lily, how could I ever bear to push you?" Terence Woods laughed. "You just need to know that I’m dying for you."

With that, he raised his hand, preparing to drive the point of the knife into his chest.

"Don’t!" Lily shrieked, reaching out to block him. Breaking down, she said, "I won’t divorce you, alright?"

"Really?" A look of delight instantly appeared on Terence Woods’s face. "Lily, you’re willing to give me another chance, right?"

Lily could only nod. "Yes."

Terence Woods pulled her into his arms, his voice choked with emotion. "Lily, thank you for not abandoning me. I love you, Lily."

As he spoke, his eyes were cold and detached, and the corners of his mouth curved into an almost cruel arc.

After listening to the parrot Joy’s description of the situation, Renee Jennings frowned. "Terence Woods is threatening suicide to keep Lily from daring to bring up divorce."

[Damn it, this is making me so mad! An abuser like that would never actually kill himself!]

[Lily is too kind and soft-hearted!]

[Sigh... I can’t imagine how helpless Lily must have felt.]

[My ex-boyfriend was the same way. Every time I tried to break up with him, he’d threaten suicide. I would end up crying and begging him not to hurt himself and promising I wouldn’t leave him. But when we finally did break up, he was calmer and colder than anyone.]

Fortune Blossom never imagined that the daughter she had cherished and doted on for twenty-five years would be treated like this after marrying Terence Woods!

"My poor Lily..." she sobbed, unable to form coherent words. "I have to get Lily out of there."

Fortune Blossom took out a spare phone and called her daughter.

At that very moment, Lily was standing on the balcony in her thin pajamas.

The wind whipped through her hair as she lowered her gaze. For a fleeting moment, she wanted to leap down and end this painful life.

Suddenly, the phone in the living room began to ring urgently.

She remained on the balcony, unmoved.

"The phone’s been ringing for a while. Why aren’t you answering it?" her mother-in-law asked as she came out of her room.

"I know," Lily replied before heading back into the living room to pick up the phone.

She was about to decline the call when she saw it was from her mother.

"Mom." She went into her room to answer the call.

"Lily, Mom wants to ask you a question." Fortune Blossom’s voice was thick and nasal.

Hearing her voice, Lily asked with concern, "Mom, do you have a cold?"

"Lily, is Terence Woods hitting you?" Fortune Blossom couldn’t help but choke back a sob.

Lily’s eyelashes trembled. "No, of course not," she said in a low voice.

"Oh, you silly girl, tell Mom the truth," Fortune Blossom said, her heart aching. "You can’t suffer in silence just because you’re afraid of worrying your father and me."

"Mom..." The rims of Lily’s eyes turned red as tears streamed down her face.

"He hit you, didn’t he?" Fortune Blossom pressed.

Lily’s voice was a suppressed sob. "Mom, it hurts... It really hurts..."

Fortune Blossom said decisively, "Lily, don’t be afraid. Your father and I are coming to get you right now."

After hanging up, she looked at Renee Jennings on the screen and pleaded, "Streamer, I’m going to get Lily now. Could you please not end the stream? I want everyone to watch over Lily with me."

Renee Jennings had no reason to refuse.

She nodded. "Of course."

"Thank you, Streamer," Fortune Blossom said, then instructed her driver to get moving.

The moment she was in the car, she started making calls.

Renee Jennings and the audience watched her make several calls.

Calling relatives, bodyguards, a doctor.

[This auntie is a total boss!]

[And the power of money.]

[Go, Auntie, go!]

After finishing her calls, Fortune Blossom sighed as she looked at the live comments. "I can’t believe I misjudged him so badly. I always thought Terence Woods was a gentle, honest man who would be patient with Lily. I thought he would be a good husband for her, but I never expected..."

She was filled with self-reproach. "It’s all my fault for not vetting him properly for Lily."

"It’s not your fault," Renee Jennings comforted her in a soft voice. "Terence Woods is just too good at hiding his true self."

[Yeah, Auntie, please don’t take all the blame.]

[You’re not the ones at fault, that despicable abuser is!]

Fortune Blossom had good luck on her side. They only hit one red light the entire way and soon arrived downstairs at Lily’s apartment complex.

The people she had called hadn’t arrived yet, so Fortune Blossom went upstairs by herself.

She rang the doorbell, and the person who opened the door was Mrs. Wright.

"Well, hello there. What brings you here?" Mrs. Wright asked, looking at her in surprise.

Seeing her, Fortune Blossom frowned. "What are you doing here?"

Mrs. Wright laughed. "I’m visiting my son’s home. What’s so strange about that?"

Fortune Blossom’s expression darkened. "This is the marital home I bought for Lily. How did it become ’your son’s home’?"

Mrs. Wright was still smiling. "Lily married Terence, making her a daughter-in-law of the Wright family. Her house is the Wright family’s house."

Hearing this, Fortune Blossom scoffed. "You’ve got some nerve."

She strode past her into the apartment. Not seeing Lily in the living room, she turned and headed for the bedroom.

She knocked on the master bedroom door. "Lily, Mom’s here."

Lily opened the door, her eyes rimmed with red. "Mom."

Fortune Blossom pulled Lily into a hug. "My silly girl, I’m sorry I’m late."

"Lily, what are you crying for?" Mrs. Wright snapped, looking at her with annoyance. "Acting like you’ve been through some great ordeal!"

"You shut up!" Fortune Blossom said coldly. "I’m speaking with my daughter. It’s not your place to butt in!"

"What is this attitude?" Mrs. Wright said, displeased. "I am Terence Woods’s mother, Lily’s mother-in-law!"

"You’re Terence Woods’s mother? Good. Then I’d like to ask you just how you raised your son!" Fortune Blossom said, pulling her daughter behind her and glaring sharply at Mrs. Wright.

Mrs. Wright turned to Lily. "Lily, have you been telling your mother a bunch of nonsense?"

Her son had called her over to keep an eye on Lily and make sure she didn’t leave the house alone.

Fortune Blossom retorted angrily, "My daughter can say whatever she wants to me! It’s not your place to boss her around!"

"Why are you being so aggressive?" Mrs. Wright was also unhappy. "Can we please be reasonable about this?"

Fortune Blossom turned to Lily. "Sweetheart, tell Mommy, where did Terence Woods hit you?"

"You need to watch what you say!" Mrs. Wright said urgently. "My Terence would never hit Lily! That’s absolute nonsense!"

Lily hesitated.

She really didn’t want her parents to worry.

Fortune Blossom squeezed her daughter’s hand and said gently, "Lily, no matter what, your father and I will always be your rock. We will support any decision you make, unconditionally."

"Mom!" Lily’s face was instantly streaked with tears. She rolled up the sleeve of her pajamas, revealing the glaring marks and bruises that covered her arm.

She sobbed, "Terence Woods did this. And he threatened me... he said if I dared to divorce him, he would kill himself."
