The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 182: Unearthing Such a Big Secret

Chapter 182: Chapter 182: Unearthing Such a Big Secret

"Stop playing dumb!" Mango calmly grabbed several more water bottles from the shelf and hurled them at him. "The proof is right there on your phone, isn’t it?"

The viewers in the livestream were shocked by what Mango said.

[Is she speaking English? ’Cause I don’t understand a single word...]

[That’s a new one!]

[Damn it, this guy’s sick in the head. Secretly recording his girlfriend showering is disgusting enough, but I can’t believe he showed his friends???]

[I want to slap this guy through the screen.]

[No wonder Mango was so furious. If it were me, I would’ve exploded! Go Mango, call the cops!]

Renee Jennings asked quietly, "Mango, have you called the police?"

Mango picked up her chest-mounted phone, looking seriously at Renee Jennings on the screen. "Renee, I’m calling them right now."

She glanced at the chat, forcing herself to remain composed. "Thank you all for your concern. And please, get a good look at this face so you can steer clear of this scumbag!"

"You’re live?" Peter Archer’s face changed, his eyes flashing with menace. "Shannon Conway, I suggest you play nice! Give me back my phone!"

"You should take your own advice, you piece of trash!" Mango said with a look of disgust. "I’m going to make sure the entire country knows that you, Peter Archer, are a degenerate scumbag!"

"You..." Peter Archer breathed heavily, veins bulging on his forehead. Then, a sinister smirk spread across his face. "Wait a minute. With your pathetic little account, how many people could possibly be watching?"

"It’s true, my account doesn’t have many viewers," Mango scoffed. "But the streamer I’m connected with? That’s a different story. She has two hundred thousand people watching her stream right now."

"What?" Peter Archer’s brow furrowed. "Are you serious?"

Mango didn’t bother wasting any more words on him and dialed the police.

"Wait, you’re actually calling the cops?" Peter Archer scrambled out from behind the counter, trying to stop her. "Sylvia, I’m your boyfriend! It’s normal to film your own girlfriend, right? Besides, if anyone’s to blame, it’s you for never letting me touch you. Now give me back my phone."

"Fuck off!" Mango kicked him and walked out of the convenience store.

She pulled the glass door closed and jammed the handles with a broomstick she found near the entrance.

"Shannon Conway, move that broom!" Peter Archer yelled, now locked inside the convenience store. He stared at Mango, his face dark and his gaze vicious.

Mango ignored him. She sat on her electric scooter, waiting for the police to arrive while chatting with the viewers.

"Renee, thank you for helping me uncover such a huge secret," she said gratefully.

"Thank Cinder, not me," Renee Jennings said gently. "It was the one that discovered the secret."

"Okay." Mango nodded seriously. "I’ll give it extra treats tonight."

[See, having a pet is really useful! I want to get one too!]

[It’s only useful if you have a pet AND you get connected to the streamer~~~ I can never get through, so a pet would be useless for me!]

[Don’t lose hope! Maybe one of us will get picked next time~~]

Five minutes later, the police arrived. Mango thanked Renee Jennings again and disconnected.

[Mango’s boyfriend is not even human!]

[Running into scum like that is infuriating!]

[This is making me so paranoid... now I’m wondering if my boyfriend is also some kind of pervert...]

[Ladies, date me instead, I’m not a pervert~~~]

Just as Renee Jennings was about to say something, a system notification sounded in her mind.

[System 009: Congratulations on completing the Level 2 mission "Listen." Reward: 50 points.]

Renee Jennings’s eyes lit up, and the corners of her lips curved into a slight smile.

’Mission complete. Time to end the stream.’

[Host, are you going to connect with the next person?]

[Rubbing my hands together, hope Lady Luck is on my side~]

Renee Jennings scanned the chat, blinked, and said with a smile, "Alright, I’ll connect with one last person, and then I’m ending the stream for the night."

[When will you stream next?]

[Host, please stream more often! The wait is killing us!]

"I’ll do my best," Renee Jennings said, not daring to make any promises she couldn’t keep.

Meanwhile, the user "Flying Rabbit" stared at the yellow-margined box turtle in its terrarium, Renee Jennings’s words from their call echoing in her mind—

Your sister-in-law, whenever you’re not around...

Flying Rabbit quickly shook her head and muttered to herself, "No, that’s impossible. My sister-in-law isn’t that kind of person. Stop overthinking, Lucy Perry! You must just have too much time on your hands. Go work out!"

Hearing her, the yellow-margined box turtle, Cici, helplessly shook its little head. ’She still doesn’t believe it. My master is such an idiot!’

Even though Lucy Perry refused to believe it, once a seed of doubt was planted in her heart, it began to take root.

No matter what she did, her thoughts returned to it.

After finishing her workout and returning home, an image inexplicably flashed through Lucy Perry’s mind—

Her sister-in-law walked in carrying a counterfeit LV bag and swapped it with the identical, authentic one from her walk-in closet.

Lucy Perry closed her eyes, then quickly slipped on her slippers and hurried into the walk-in closet.

She surveyed the wall of handbags, completely unable to tell which might be fake.

Just then, her phone rang.

Lucy Perry glanced at the caller ID. It was her sister-in-law, Monica Ford.

She hesitated for a moment before answering the phone. "Monica."

"Lulu," Monica Ford’s voice was gentle. "I’ve made some bird’s nest soup. Are you free to come over and have some? Or would you like me to bring it to you?"

Lucy Perry said softly, "I’ll head over."

**

「Three o’clock in the afternoon.」

Renee Jennings finally ended her stream.

She stood up and stretched. "My back is so sore from sitting."

Rhea Dempsey, who was moving a terrarium, heard her and said with a laugh, "You’re too young to have a bad back."

"I’m not that young," Renee Jennings countered, doing a few more stretches. "I’m over eighteen."

"Renee, is your back sore?" Blueberry asked, looking up at her like a little brown-noser. "Want me to walk on it for you?"

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "That’s a great idea."

She turned and flopped onto her stomach on the bed. Blueberry immediately hopped up, carefully pressing with one paw. "Is this the spot?"

Renee Jennings: "Yep."

Getting the confirmation, Blueberry put all four paws on her back and began to slowly knead.

A thought suddenly occurred to Renee Jennings, and she called out, "Can someone get my phone from the table?"

Pippi, reacting the fastest, immediately let out a bark. "WOOF! I’ll get it! I’ll get it!"

It trotted over, picked up Renee Jennings’s phone, and carried it to her on the bed.

"Thanks, Pippi." Renee Jennings took the phone and rubbed its head.

She found the private message from "Richie Lai Cai" and saw the address he’d sent. A quick map search showed it was only seven kilometers away—quite close.

Renee Jennings replied to "Richie Lai Cai" with the two words "Got it," then began to consider who she should send to help him.

To make sure things went off without a hitch, she decided to assign a cat and a bird to the task.

If the cat fell asleep, the bird could take over, or they could keep an eye on each other.

"Cici," Renee Jennings called softly.

The little cat immediately jumped gracefully in front of her and meowed sweetly, "Renee, did you call for me?"

Renee Jennings glanced sideways at her, a grin on her face. "I do. I have a mission for you."

"What kind of mission?" Cici’s round pupils suddenly lit up, her fluffy face filled with anticipation.
