Chapter 185: Chapter 185: Oh My! This Sparrow Could Die of Shame
When Mary the Sparrow heard this, her beady little eyes flew wide open.
’Holy crap, is a bird even supposed to hear this?’
The scene that followed shocked Mary even more. She’d never seen anything like it!
’This won’t do. I have to wake Cici up to see this!’
Mary flew over to Cici, flapping her wings. She used her sharp beak to nudge its drooping ear and shouted, "Cici, wake up and watch the pervert!"
Cici’s whiskers twitched, but its eyelids felt as heavy as lead.
With great effort, it managed to pry open its eyes a tiny slit and meowed groggily, "Mary."
The woman who was having her way with Roy Colton jumped at the sound of the meow.
She turned to look, then frowned and shoved the cat off the bed in disgust.
Both Cici and Mary were startled.
Caught off guard, Cici tumbled to the floor. The pain jolted it wide awake.
"Cici, are you okay?" Mary asked with concern.
Cici wrinkled its nose and whimpered a few times. "I’m okay, Mary."
"That’s good." Mary breathed a sigh of relief, then added with a scoff, "This human female has no manners!"
"Totally!" Cici nodded, its little furry face full of resentment. "So hateful!"
Mary glanced back and shrieked, "Good heavens! This is mortifying for a little sparrow!"
Cici’s curiosity was instantly piqued. It turned its head, round cat eyes glowing eerily in the darkness. "Why is she licking Richie? Is that something humans like to do?"
"I don’t get it either." Mary was completely baffled. "Every time I’ve seen this, it’s been the human male doing it to the female. This is the first time I’ve seen it the other way around."
"So, is Richie going to be in danger?" Cici asked, a little worried. Richie was very good to cats, and it didn’t want to see anything bad happen to him.
Mary thought for a moment, then shook her head. "Probably not."
Only then did Cici relax.
And so, they watched, wide-eyed, as Roy Colton was covered in saliva from head to toe.
"She’s so gross," Cici commented to Mary, turning its head away. "Even we cats don’t do that."
Mary had already calmed down. She remarked grimly, "Well, what else would you call a pervert?"
The woman fussed over Roy Colton for a long time before finally, and reluctantly, separating from him. She stood by the bed and straightened her clothes.
Before she left, she planted another hard kiss on Roy Colton’s lips, kicked the little cat, and slipped quietly out of the room.
Cici stared at her retreating back, seething with anger. It wanted so badly to rush over and sink its claws into her!
「The next day.」
Renee Jennings arrived at Roy Colton’s apartment and saw two of his roommates sitting on the living room couch eating instant ramen. The smell filled the entire place.
She shot them a quick glance before looking away and following Roy into his room.
On the couch, a long-haired girl with wine-red hair saw this and nudged her friend with her elbow. "Does Roy have a girlfriend now?"
Her friend took a loud slurp of noodles and mumbled through a mouthful, "Don’t know. He’s so handsome, it’d be normal if he did."
The long-haired girl frowned and slammed her ramen bowl down on the table with a loud THWACK, splashing out a few drops of broth.
"What’s your problem?" her friend asked, frowning at her.
"Nothing." The long-haired girl got up and took a few steps. When she glanced at Roy’s closed bedroom door, her expression immediately soured.
The moment Cici saw Renee Jennings, it immediately scurried over to tattle. "Renee, that person last night was so mean! She was awful!"
"What’s wrong?" Renee Jennings bent down and scooped Cici into her arms. "What happened last night? Tell me everything."
Roy Colton also looked at Cici, his expression a mixture of curiosity and nervousness.
Cici looked up at Renee and started meowing frantically. "Renee, it was a female human with red hair!"
"Red hair?" A thought struck Renee. She suddenly recalled the two girls she had seen on her way in, one of whom had wine-red hair.
"Yes," Cici said, a little embarrassed. "Actually, it was Mary who found her last night. I accidentally fell asleep, and I almost didn’t wake up."
Its meow trailed off. "I’m sorry, Renee. I almost failed the mission you gave me."
"It’s okay." Renee Jennings rubbed its head and chuckled softly. "Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. You had Mary with you, right? By the way, where is Mary?"
Cici replied, "Mary went off to catch some bugs."
"Okay." Renee sat down on the stool in front of the desk. "Cici, go on with what happened last night."
Cici said, "Mary told me that last night, the red-haired female came into the room. First, she called Richie’s name. When Richie didn’t respond, the female lay down next to him and started kissing him."
This was what Renee had expected. She glanced at Roy. "Kissed him where?"
Hearing this, Roy’s eyelashes trembled, and his heart grew even more anxious.
Cici’s expression turned guilty. "I’m sorry, Renee, I didn’t ask... I wasn’t awake yet at that point."
Renee said, "Okay, keep going."
Cici then told her about being shoved off the bed. "She’s really mean."
"She pushed you? That is mean." Renee soothed Cici by stroking its back.
"But it’s a good thing I fell, otherwise I wouldn’t have woken up."
"Does it still hurt?"
Cici shook its head. "It doesn’t hurt anymore. When I woke up, I saw that red-haired female licking Richie... from his face all the way down to his feet. It was so freaky..."
Renee raised an eyebrow slightly.
’If even a cat thinks it’s freaky, then I can’t even imagine how bad it really was.’
She looked at Roy again, her eyes filled with pity.
"Host," Roy said, his heart pounding in his chest, completely panicked. "What did Cici say?"
"Cici said..." Renee recounted the situation to him.
After hearing her explanation, the color drained from Roy’s face.
He clenched his fists. "Who the hell is sick enough to do that?" he said angrily.
"A woman with dyed red hair." Renee’s gaze fell on the closed bedroom door. "When I came in earlier, I saw a girl with wine-red hair sitting in the living room. Is she your roommate?"
Roy frowned. "I think her name is Chloe Scott. She’s a roommate, I guess. But she’s just crashing here with a friend; she doesn’t pay rent."
"All right, I’ll take Cici out to confirm it’s her." Renee stood up, but stopped after a couple of steps. "Richie, you should go get your blood tested. I suspect there’s a reason you were sleeping so soundly."
"Okay, Host. I will," Roy nodded quickly.
Renee opened the door and saw a figure hastily retreating in a panic.
She raised an eyebrow, the corner of her mouth curling into a wry, ambiguous smile.
Renee walked into the living room and saw Chloe Scott standing at the coffee table, holding a cup and pouring water.
’I don’t get it,’ she thought. ’If this girl likes Roy, why not just confess her feelings openly? Why resort to such shady, underhanded tactics?’
"Um..." Roy’s voice sounded from behind her. "I’m ready."
"Let’s go," Renee said, leading the way out with Cici in her arms.
Chloe Scott crossed an arm over her chest, staring at Renee’s back and muttering, "So that was your cat."
