Chapter 303: Chapter 303: A Room Full of Cat Corpses
"See? I even confirmed with him that he was single." Ivy Griffin’s makeup was ruined by her tears. "I never thought it would be like this..."
Henry Stark glanced at her screen before returning to his seat.
Sawyer printed out the transcript and handed it to Ivy Griffin. "This entire interview has been recorded on audio and video... Please review the transcript and sign it if you confirm it’s accurate."
Ivy Griffin wiped away her tears, trying to stay calm. She read through the transcript carefully, then nodded. "I confirm that everything I said is the truth. Not a single word was a lie."
Sawyer reminded her, "Then please sign here."
"Okay." Ivy Griffin quickly signed her name.
As she was leaving the interrogation room, she suddenly caught sight of a familiar figure.
She hesitated for a few seconds before hurrying after them. "Hello..."
Renee Jennings paused and turned around. "Hello, Ivy."
"It really is you," Ivy Griffin said in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
Renee Jennings gave a faint smile. "It is quite a coincidence."
Ivy Griffin thought of the message she’d sent yesterday and frowned. "That thing you said last night, about a ’wise choice’... Did you know something?"
"Yes," Renee Jennings nodded.
Ivy Griffin bit her lip, wanting to say more, but then she saw the policewoman who had just taken her statement walk up to Renee Jennings.
"The Chief is about to interrogate Linus Hollis. Are you coming?" Sawyer asked.
"I’m going." Renee Jennings looked at Ivy Griffin and said softly, "You should head home now."
Ivy Griffin stared blankly at her retreating figure.

Interrogation Room.
Linus Hollis looked exhausted. When he saw someone enter, he asked, "When can I leave?"
"You’re not leaving." Henry Stark sat down, his tone cold. "Explain your motive and the process of the murder clearly."
"I didn’t kill anyone!" Linus Hollis seethed. "How many times do I have to say it? I didn’t kill anyone!"
Henry Stark regarded him with an indifferent gaze. "You were the one harassing her after the breakup. Why lie?"
Hearing this, Linus Hollis’s expression flickered, but he insisted, "I’m not lying."
"Weren’t you the one who knelt before Moira Ford, begging her not to break up with you, even kowtowing to her?" Henry Stark asked sarcastically.
A flash of astonishment crossed Linus Hollis’s eyes.
’How could they...’
’I clearly dismantled the surveillance camera in the living room and destroyed Moira Ford’s phone. How do they know all this?’
"Why did you suddenly agree to the breakup when Moira Ford said she was going to tell both of your parents?"
"Is that when you started plotting to kill Moira Ford?"
Henry Stark fired off two consecutive questions.
Linus Hollis’s fists clenched, his expression grim.
After a moment, he roared angrily, "I didn’t kill anyone! If you’ve got what it takes, show me some proof!"
Linus Hollis was confident they would never find any evidence.
"It seems you haven’t thought things through." With that, Henry Stark stood up and left the interrogation room.
The team entered the conference room.
Kyle Morgan frowned in frustration. "This Linus Hollis is a tough nut to crack."
"I remember Joy mentioning that Linus Hollis was worried Susanna Hollis wouldn’t be able to accept his breakup with Moira Ford, so he asked Moira to keep it a secret. Why don’t we bring Susanna Hollis in for questioning?" Levi Hollis suggested.
Sawyer immediately chimed in, "I think that’s a good idea."
Henry Stark looked at Levi Hollis and said calmly, "You contact Susanna Hollis."
"Roger that." Levi Hollis immediately agreed, getting up and leaving the conference room.
Henry Stark’s gaze swept over and noticed Renee Jennings pressing her lips together, looking preoccupied.
"Renee, what’s wrong?" he asked gently.
Hearing him, Renee Jennings turned to meet his concerned gaze and said slowly, "I was just thinking, last night Chloe Kent mentioned that Linus Hollis adopted stray cats and even set up a special room in his house for them."
"You want to communicate with the stray cats?" Henry Stark asked.
"Yes." Renee Jennings nodded. "Maybe they saw Linus Hollis committing the crime."
"Okay." Henry Stark’s expression was serious. "I’ll file the application."
Levi Hollis returned to the conference room, frowning. "Susanna Hollis says she’s not feeling well and can’t come to the station."
"Then we’ll go to her house to see her," Sawyer said.
Levi Hollis said, "I suggested that, but she said it wasn’t convenient."
"Did you tell her her son is a murder suspect?" Kyle Morgan asked.
Levi Hollis replied, "I did, but she didn’t react much. She just said it was impossible for her son to be a killer, that we must have made a mistake, and then she hung up. When I tried calling back, she wouldn’t pick up."
"Then call from a different number." Kyle Morgan pulled out his own phone. "What’s her number?"
The call went through, but no one answered.
Sawyer pouted. "So now she’s not answering anyone’s calls. What kind of person isn’t even worried that her son might be a murderer?"
At two in the afternoon, the search warrant Henry Stark had applied for came through. The team set off for Linus Hollis’s house.
He lived in an urban village, renting a three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment.
Kyle Morgan contacted the landlord to open the door, but they discovered Linus Hollis had changed the lock. So, they had to call a locksmith.
When the door finally opened, an indescribable smell assaulted their nostrils.
"What is that smell? It’s awful." Sawyer quickly took out some masks and handed them around.
"It smells like something rotten and fishy," Kyle Morgan said, his brows tightly furrowed.
Renee Jennings scanned the living room but saw no sign of any stray cats.
Of the three rooms, two doors were open—one was a bedroom, the other a computer room.
Levi Hollis stopped in front of the closed door and said in a low voice, "The stench seems to be coming from this room."
He gripped the doorknob and pushed down. "It’s locked."
"I’ll call the locksmith back." Kyle Morgan made a call.
The locksmith returned quickly, shouldering his toolkit.
The bedroom door lock was easier than the front door. The locksmith had it open in no time.
He opened the door, and a sour, rotten stench rushed out, so overwhelming he nearly threw up last night’s dinner.
"BLEGH—" The locksmith dry-heaved.
Henry Stark stepped forward and switched on the light in the room. His expression instantly darkened. He immediately looked at Renee Jennings and Sawyer, who were about to come over, and warned, "You two, don’t look yet."
"What is it?" Renee Jennings stopped in her tracks, not daring to go any further.
The locksmith gagged until tears came to his eyes. After a glance inside, he let out a bloodcurdling scream. "What kind of monster does this? It’s a room full of dead cats... No wonder it stinks so bad!"
Levi Hollis’s face was grim. "He didn’t adopt stray cats out of kindness."
"Dead cats?" Renee Jennings hesitated for a few seconds before walking over. "Aren’t there any live kittens?"
"Not sure." Seeing her approach, Levi Hollis asked hesitantly, "Are you sure you want to see this?"
Renee Jennings nodded, her expression resolute.
"Brace yourself." After saying this, Levi Hollis stepped aside slightly.
Even though Renee Jennings had prepared herself, the sight before her made her scalp tingle with horror.
Her expression changed drastically. She quickly turned her head away, her hands clenched tightly at her sides.
’Is Linus Hollis a monster? He’s so cruel! To think he tortured and killed so many kittens!’
