The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 307: "My Name Is Vincent Morgan.

Chapter 307: Chapter 307: "My Name Is Vincent Morgan.

Linus Hollis seemed to be trying to get Henry Stark and Kyle Morgan to sympathize with him. He choked up and said, "Officers, you’re men too. You should be able to understand how I feel. I ask you, what man could stand being humiliated like that by his girlfriend?"

"Just tell the truth," Kyle Morgan said impatiently. "I didn’t ask you to make up a story!"

Henry Stark spoke in a cold voice, "We’re already clear on your motive for the murder. We were giving you a chance to confess. Since you won’t take it, you can save it for the courtroom."

Kyle Morgan walked up to Linus Hollis again and placed an arrest warrant on the table. "Linus Hollis, you are a suspect in the murder of Moira Ford..."

That night, Linus Hollis was sent to the detention center.

That brought the matter to a close, for now.

Renee Jennings, Henry Stark, and the others grabbed a late-night snack at a nearby barbecue joint before heading home.

She had pulled an all-nighter, and after only a few hours of sleep, she had to get back to work. As soon as Renee Jennings got home, she went to wash up and get some rest.

She must have been exhausted; she fell asleep the moment she got into bed.

The next day, Renee Jennings slept in and woke up naturally. By the time she did, it was nearly twelve in the afternoon.

She went downstairs and saw Zane and Jasmine helping Rhea Dempsey wrap dumplings. "Morning, my darlings! Are we having dumplings for lunch today?"

"Good afternoon, Auntie!"

"Auntie, the sun’s shining on your butt!"

Zane and Jasmine greeted her happily.

"It didn’t get me." Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "I was under the covers."

Rhea Dempsey said to her, "Are you hungry? I’ll go steam a tray of dumplings for you."

With that, she picked up a tray of dumplings and headed into the kitchen.

The dumplings today were filled with taro and pork. While Renee Jennings ate, she wondered where to take them to have fun that afternoon.

Suddenly, her phone, which was sitting on the side, started ringing.

Renee Jennings glanced at the caller ID. It was an unknown number.

She answered the phone. A mellow, elegant man’s voice came through the receiver.

"Hello, is this Renee Jennings?"

"Who is this?" Renee Jennings asked doubtfully.

"My name is Vincent Morgan." Vincent Morgan seemed a bit nervous. He paused for a few seconds before continuing, "I apologize for calling you so suddenly."

Renee Jennings recognized the name. "What is it?" she asked coolly.

"I..." Vincent Morgan suddenly didn’t know how to answer. "I... can we meet?"

Renee Jennings remained impassive. "I don’t think that’s necessary."

Vincent Morgan fell silent for another moment before continuing, "Alright. I won’t bother you any further, then. I’ll... try again another day."

Renee Jennings said nothing, simply hanging up the phone.

Rhea Dempsey noticed her odd tone. After a moment’s hesitation, she asked, "What’s wrong?"

"It was someone from the Morgan family," Renee Jennings said, not hiding anything. "He said his name is Vincent Morgan, and he wants to meet with me."

"Then why not go see him?" Rhea Dempsey asked, and before Renee could answer, she added, "If you’re worried about our feelings, you don’t have to be. We respect your decision. Your dad and I have thought it over, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. It just means more people to love and care for you."

’Love and care?’

’Renee Jennings didn’t see it that way.’

But Rhea Dempsey’s words filled her with warmth.

A smile touched her lips as she said, "I don’t need anyone else’s affection. All I need is my Rae and my dad."

"What nonsense." Rhea Dempsey shot her a mock-disapproving glare, though inwardly her heart was pounding with nervousness.

She paid lip service to respecting Renee Jennings’s decision, but if Renee actually went to meet the Morgan family, Rhea knew she would be a complete wreck.

Although Zane and Jasmine didn’t know what their grandma and auntie were talking about, the two little ones couldn’t help but chime in when they heard what their auntie said.

"Auntie, what about me and brother? Don’t you want us?"

"Auntie, my sister and I will dote on you too!"

The smile on Renee Jennings’s lips reached her eyes, her tone light and musical. "Of course I want you. You’re my little stinkers."

"Jasmine isn’t stinky." Jasmine sniffed her clothes, then sniffed her brother next to her. "Brother isn’t stinky either."

Renee Jennings was won over by her cuteness. "My mistake. You’re my sweet little treasures."

**

Inside the restaurant, crystal chandeliers cast a soft glow. Gentle music drifted through the air, along with the rich scent of flowers, and flames danced atop gilded candlesticks.

That afternoon, while Renee Jennings was still wondering where to take the kids, she got a sudden call from Faye Wyatt inviting her to dinner.

Renee Jennings thought there might be an issue at the zoo, so she agreed.

Faye Wyatt had booked a booth. When Renee Jennings arrived, two elegant and graceful figures were already seated there.

"Director Wyatt." Renee Jennings walked to the booth and greeted her with a smile. "Sorry, I’m late."

"You’re not late." Faye Wyatt, wearing a red dress, stood up and affectionately took her hand, a gentle smile warming her eyes. "I’m just so happy you could make it."

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "Is there something at the zoo you need my help with?"

"No, no." Faye Wyatt quickly denied it, explaining, "I just wanted to invite you out for a meal and introduce you to a dear friend of mine."

Renee Jennings broke into a smile. "I was just joking."

"That’s good." Faye Wyatt breathed a sigh of relief, then turned to look at Zoe Morgan. "Vivi, let me introduce you. This is Renee."

Renee Jennings followed her gaze, and the smile on her lips slowly faded.

’Today she’d refused to meet Vincent Morgan, yet by some twist of fate, she’d run into this one.’

Zoe Morgan stared at Renee Jennings, her fingers curling nervously. She pressed her lips together, her delicate brows drawing into a tight knot.

"Renee, this is Sylvia. You can just call her Sister Vivi," Faye Wyatt said to Renee Jennings with a smile.

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow almost imperceptibly, her lips curving into a wry smile. "Sister Vivi, hello."

Faye Wyatt looked at Zoe Morgan expectantly, only to see that something was off about her expression. "Vivi, what’s wrong? Renee is greeting you."

Zoe Morgan lowered her gaze and took a deep breath to compose herself.

She stood up and extended her hand toward Renee Jennings. "Hello. I often hear Fanny mention you. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you."

"Does Director Wyatt mention me often?" Renee Jennings lightly grasped her fingertips and then quickly pulled her hand back, glancing sideways at the woman beside her.

"Oh, enough with the ’Director Wyatt,’" Faye Wyatt chided playfully, pulling her down to sit. "Just call me Faye from now on."

"Alright." Renee Jennings nodded. "A name as lovely as Faye should be used often."

Faye Wyatt was delighted. "Vivi, did you hear that? My new little sister here is not only beautiful, but a smooth-talker too!"

A strained smile appeared on Zoe Morgan’s face. "Yes, she is."

Her gaze fell on Renee Jennings’s face. The more she looked, the more she thought Renee was the spitting image of her own mother.

And deep inside, the guilt that had been buried for twenty-four years was now rushing back like a crazed, surging tide.

Zoe Morgan subconsciously bit her lower lip.

"Vivi?" Faye Wyatt noticed she wasn’t herself. "You look a bit pale. Are you feeling unwell?"
