The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 335: She Was Picked Up by My Grandma

Chapter 335: Chapter 335: She Was Picked Up by My Grandma

"Sigh," David Sawyer, Tina’s husband, lamented. "Isn’t this a little too cruel? Tina, Dan is your sister, after all."

Hearing her husband, Tina immediately shot back, "And Victor is my own son. Is a sister more important than a son?"

As soon as she finished, something else occurred to her. She reached out and twisted David’s ear. "Are you feeling sorry for her? I knew it! You’ve got a thing for Danielle!"

"Ow, ow, ow! That hurts!" David wailed.

Tina let go, glaring at him in frustration. "Good thing she’s dead. Otherwise, you two would’ve ended up hooking up behind my back sooner or later!"

"Yeah, and I saw my aunt making eyes at Dad all the time!" Victor chimed in, adding fuel to the fire.

Danielle couldn’t believe it. ’My dear sister and nephew... actually making up stories like this about me.’

’And to think I’d been so good to them...’

As anger and sadness warred in her heart, Danielle also felt an immense sense of relief that she had met Renee Jennings.

’If it weren’t for her, I’d probably be dead already, without a clue as to why. I never would have seen Tina’s family for who they really are!’

"What are you two talking about?!" David was both angry and mortified. "Dan is your sister! How could I possibly be interested in her?"

’Besides, even if I were interested, there’s no way Danielle would ever agree!’

"She’s not my real sister," Tina said, her voice laced with disgust.

"If she’s not your sister, is she supposed to be mine?" David rolled his eyes.

"I’m serious." Tina’s tone grew grave. "Danielle really isn’t my sister."

Danielle’s eyelashes trembled uncontrollably as she fought to control her emotions and remain perfectly still.

"What are you talking about?" David asked, stunned.

Victor, who was already rummaging through the room for valuables, chimed in, "How is that possible? If she’s not your sister, why was she so good to our family?"

"She doesn’t know," Tina said. "My grandma found her and brought her home. Back then, we barely had enough food for our own kids, but that old hag still went out and brought back another mouth to feed. My parents were furious."

"Good thing she grew up to be a good earner." Tina sank into the sofa and crossed her legs. "We raised her for over a decade. I’d say we got our money’s worth."

"Good thing grandma found her," Victor opined. "If it weren’t for our aunt, we’d never be living this comfortably."

"Exactly." Beneath her mask, the corners of Tina’s mouth twisted into a cold smile. "Oh, my dear sister, now you’re dying so we can live an even better life. Your death is well worth it!"

As Victor was ransacking the apartment, he suddenly spotted a phone.

He figured he could sell it for some cash, but when he picked it up, he saw it was recording. "Huh? What’s this?"

"What is it?" Tina asked, confused.

Victor held up the phone. "I think this phone is recording."

"Recording?" Tina frowned. "Who’s recording?"

Victor stared at the screen, saw the recording time, and a sudden thought struck him. He whipped his head around to look at Danielle, who was lying on the floor.

He said in a trembling voice, "It says... it’s been recording for over an hour..."

"What does that mean?" Tina didn’t understand.

"Our aunt..." Victor stammered. "She might... not... be dead..."

"What?" Tina abruptly uncrossed her legs, her face a mask of shock. "She’s not dead?"

David also exclaimed in alarm, "If she’s not dead, why is she lying on the floor?"

"So is she dead or not?" Tina reached out with her foot and kicked her.

Danielle didn’t move, lying there like a corpse. She was mentally and physically exhausted and had no energy to confront this utterly monstrous family.

Seeing this, David muttered, "She must be dead, right?"

"Let me see that phone." Tina walked over to her son.

As Victor handed the phone over, he accidentally pressed the red button to stop the recording.

By the time Tina took the phone, all she could see was the lock screen wallpaper: a photo of herself, her son, and Danielle from a trip they had taken together a few years ago.

"Where’d it go?" she asked.

"I must have hit the button by accident," Victor said.

Tina tried a few passwords, but none of them worked. "Let’s just come back later and check again," she said, frustrated.

"Sounds like a plan," David nodded. "That’s the safer bet."

Victor, desperate to get his hands on the money, complained, "Why don’t we just call the police? They’ll know if she’s dead or not as soon as they get here."

"You idiot!" Tina smacked him on the forehead. "What if she’s not all the way dead? The police will just send her to the hospital and they’ll save her! What then?"

Danielle found it utterly laughable.

’Tina is absolutely determined to see me dead!’

"Oh, right." Victor’s face lit up with understanding. "You’re the smart one, Mom. So, are we leaving?"

"Obviously!" Tina said smugly. "Let’s go. We’ll grab some dim sum and come back later."

"What about the phone?" Victor asked.

Tina frowned. "Everything we just said was recorded on it. We definitely have to take it with us."

After Tina’s family of three left, Danielle still didn’t stir, but tears slipped from the corners of her eyes and dampened her temples.

’Those heartless monsters!’

「Half an hour later.」

Danielle pulled herself up from the floor. After bolting the door, the very first thing she did was call the police.

Although Tina had taken the backup phone that was recording the video, Danielle had an audio recording on her primary phone—more than enough to prove her family’s murderous intent.

After calling the police, Danielle suddenly thought of Renee Jennings.

She found Rhea Dempsey’s phone number and pressed dial.

It rang a few times before Rhea Dempsey’s voice came through. "Manager Archer, what’s with the early call?"

"Ms. Dempsey." Danielle’s throat felt tight, and she choked out the words, "I wanted to thank your daughter."

"She’s still asleep." Rhea could hear the distress in her voice and asked with concern, "Manager Archer, are you okay?"

"I..." Danielle didn’t know how to answer.

Rhea sighed. "Just put your mind at ease. From now on, stay far away from those ungrateful wretches."

"I will," Danielle said. "I’ve already called the police. I’m not just going to let this go."

"Good! I’m glad you called the police." Rhea chuckled. "I was worried you might let your family ties get in the way."

Danielle gave a bitter laugh. "I couldn’t bring myself to do it at first, but they’ve just gone too far!"

"Don’t you dare go easy on them," Rhea urged. "Make sure they get the punishment they deserve!"

"I will." Just as Danielle hung up, the doorbell rang.

She looked through the peephole and saw two uniformed police officers outside. She opened the door and said, "Hello, Officers."

After greeting them, Danielle played the audio recording from her phone aloud and also provided the receipt from the previous day’s gas line repair.

The two officers looked grave and assured her they would investigate the matter thoroughly.

Danielle was immensely grateful.

「It was two in the afternoon when Tina’s family returned to Danielle’s apartment.」

They put on masks the moment they stepped inside the apartment, a scene that was captured in its entirety by the police officers hidden from view.

Seeing Danielle still lying in the same spot, Tina let out a sigh of relief, a satisfied smile spreading across her face. "It worked! She’s dead for good this time!"
