The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 410: Scamming Other Humans’ Money Together

Chapter 410: Chapter 410: Scamming Other Humans’ Money Together

Renee Jennings looked at the orange cat trembling in the corner and raised an eyebrow slightly. "What’s wrong?"

’This little guy sounded so cocky just a moment ago, but he’s actually such a coward.’

The orange cat’s little face tensed as he stared at her warily. "How can you understand what cats are saying?"

He had been a stray for so long, and this was the first time he had ever met a human who could communicate with him.

Renee said in a gentle voice, "Don’t be afraid. We’re not going to hurt you."

Although the orange cat could sense the kindness coming from Renee, his long-held stereotypes about humans made him still a little afraid. "I don’t believe you."

"Then what would it take for you to believe us?"

"..."

The orange cat didn’t know either.

After a moment, he finally asked, "What did you grab me for?"

He had been having a perfectly good time catching mice when suddenly, some humans just snatched him away. It was baffling.

"There might be a misunderstanding here," Renee explained. "Our intention wasn’t to catch you. We were looking for the cat in this photo to ask a few questions."

She paused for a moment before asking, "Do you recognize the cat in the photo?"

The orange cat shook his head. "Don’t know him. You really weren’t trying to catch me?"

"We really weren’t," Renee said, her tone sincere.

The orange cat hesitated for a few seconds before cautiously stepping forward. "Fine. I’ll trust you humans this one time."

"Thank you for trusting us." Renee’s lips curved into a small smile. "What’s your name?"

"I am called King."

"Your name is that cool?"

The orange cat lifted his chin with a hint of pride. "Of course it is."

Michelle Fuller asked curiously, "Renee, what’s his name?"

Renee: "King."

"King?" Michelle blinked. "He’s so skinny. That’s a pretty big name for him."

Hearing this, the orange cat, King, said indignantly, "For your information, I’m the sturdiest of all us stray cats!"

Renee nodded in agreement. "That’s true. It’s certainly not easy for a stray cat to grow to your size."

"Hmph." King snorted. "As long as you know!"

Renee looked at King, then back at Yuri Sullivan.

When he met her gaze, he grew nervous, pursing his lips to ask, "Renee, what is it?"

"Chad, you had a delivery service go to Flora’s place to pick up the stray cat she adopted, right?" Renee asked.

"That’s right," Yuri Sullivan hurriedly nodded.

Renee frowned slightly. "But instead, you ended up with a different stray."

Yuri Sullivan looked at King, his brow slowly furrowing. "It seems that way."

Renee: "Then where did the stray cat you two used to feed together go?"

Yuri Sullivan: "..."

’This was actually a pretty serious problem.’

Just as he was thinking, the phone he’d placed on the table suddenly rang. The screen showed the name: "Flora."

"My girlfriend’s calling."

Renee gestured with her hand. "Go ahead and take it."

Yuri Sullivan answered the call, hesitated for two seconds, and put it on speaker. "Flora."

A soft, sweet female voice came from the phone. "Honey, did you pick up Little Orange?"

A flicker of surprise crossed Sean Fuller’s eyes. ’Bro, you really don’t see us as strangers, huh?’

Yuri Sullivan replied, "We picked him up."

"That’s great!" Flora said in a cutesy voice. "So, after his check-up later, should we go to a hotel to... rest for a bit?"

"Uh..." Yuri Sullivan glanced up at the others in the room, his expression awkward. His cheeks gradually flushed. "Go to a hotel...?"

"Yeah!" Flora complained. "You don’t have the guts to bring me home, so what else can we do?"

Yuri Sullivan was nervous. "Going to a hotel doesn’t seem right."

"What’s not right about it?" Flora feigned annoyance. "Is it because you don’t love me anymore?"

"Of course not," Yuri Sullivan said quickly. "Of course I love you."

As soon as he said it, he remembered how many people were listening, and his face instantly turned beet red.

Michelle’s face was the pure embodiment of gossip, her eyes sparkling as she stared at him.

Renee, on the other hand, was more restrained, her expression calm.

Sean Fuller brought a hand to his forehead. He hadn’t expected the guy to be this painfully earnest.

"Then why don’t you miss me?" Flora said, her voice full of grievance. "If you missed me, you wouldn’t treat me like this! Yuri Sullivan, you definitely don’t love me anymore!"

"I..." The words died on Yuri Sullivan’s lips. With so many people around, he was too embarrassed to say anything overly sentimental. "Flora, let’s just leave it for now. It’s not a good time for me to talk."

"Honey, you..." Before Flora could finish, Yuri Sullivan hung up the phone.

He put down his phone and looked at the others sheepishly. "Sorry about that. That was embarrassing."

"It’s fine," Renee said lightly. "Why didn’t you ask your girlfriend just now why the cat we picked up wasn’t the original one?"

Yuri Sullivan explained, "I thought, since I hadn’t figured out what was going on yet..."

"Huh?" King suddenly exclaimed in surprise. "That voice just now sounded really familiar."

"Familiar?" Renee’s eyebrow twitched as a thought occurred to her. "Chad, do you have a picture of Flora?"

"I do." Yuri Sullivan nodded and started scrolling through Flora’s social media profile. "This is her."

Renee took the phone. The girl in the photo was wearing a white dress, her arms slender, and her smile as pure and lovely as a jasmine flower. "She’s very pretty."

"She looks so innocent," Michelle commented.

Yuri Sullivan smiled. "She is."

Michelle: "But the way she talks isn’t innocent at all."

Yuri Sullivan: "..."

The smile vanished from his face. He explained, "She didn’t used to talk like that. She only changed recently."

"I see." Renee nodded and held the phone out to the cat. "King, take a look at this photo. Have you ever seen this girl before?"

Hearing this, King’s feline eyes widened into perfect circles as he stared intently at the screen. "I see her every day! She’s famous in our parts."

"Famous?" Renee raised her eyebrows, a spark of interest in her eyes. "Famous for what? Can you tell me about it?"

"Why should I tell you?" King asked defiantly. "If there’s nothing in it for me, why should I tell you people anything?"

"What do you want in return?"

"I want six mice!"

Renee thought for a moment. "How about canned cat food instead of mice?"

King had heard the neighborhood house cats mention canned food before, and it sounded pretty delicious, so he nodded in agreement. "That works too."

"Alright." Renee snapped her fingers. "It’s a deal then."

"Fine." King nodded, then looked back at the woman on the phone. "I’ve seen this female human many times. I even hear lots of other cats talking about her!"

"And what do they say?"

"They say she and another male human are always scamming other humans out of their money."

"Scamming money?"

"Yep."

"How do they do it?"

King: "It seems pretty complicated. I’m afraid you humans wouldn’t get it."
