The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 522: Can You Come Back and Keep Me Company?

Chapter 522: Chapter 522: Can You Come Back and Keep Me Company?

"Stab her?" Christina rolled her eyes, her tone dripping with contempt. "Jason Thorne, come and try it if you’ve got the guts."

Probably thinking he wouldn’t actually do something like that, she added provocatively, "Mia is right here with me. If you have the balls, come and stab her."

Jason Thorne was about to explode with anger. He said viciously, "Fine, you fucking wait. I’ll go stab Mia right now and show you."

Christina scoffed. "The one who doesn’t do it is a son of a bitch!"

"Just you wait!" Jason Thorne hung up, furious.

Unconcerned, Christina went back to lying on the sofa, editing her photos.

Hearing this conversation, Watermelon was terrified. He lost all interest in the unfamiliar house and just wanted to get Mia out of there immediately.

After listening to Watermelon, Renee Jennings’s brow furrowed tightly. She was utterly speechless at Christina and Jason Thorne’s behavior.

’This is clearly their own business, so why are they dragging Mia into it?’

Mia asked anxiously, "What is Watermelon saying?"

Renee Jennings recounted what he’d said. "Watermelon is worried you’ll be stabbed by Jason Thorne, so he’s urging you to leave."

Mia’s eyes widened in astonishment. "Christina and Jason Thorne..."

[I can’t even. She’s really telling her ex to come stab her own best friend???]

[Maybe Mia thinks Christina is her best friend, but Christina doesn’t feel the same way.]

[Oh god, this is too dangerous!]

[Run, girl, run!]

[Is Mia’s friend out of her mind?]

Mia frowned, completely bewildered. "I may have felt that Christina could find someone better, but I never said Jason Thorne wasn’t good enough for her. And I definitely never tried to set her up with someone while she had a boyfriend. Why would she make up things like that?"

"Stay away from her," Renee Jennings said softly. "Even if you don’t get hurt this time, she’ll just keep throwing you under the bus in the future."

[Christina must really hate you.]

[I also think Christina doesn’t like Mia. Everything she says is just stirring up trouble for Mia.]

Mia pursed her lips, her mood suddenly turning heavy.

Watermelon nudged her with his head. "WOOF~ Sister, don’t be friends with Christina. She’s bad."

Renee Jennings immediately translated his words for her.

Mia reached out and stroked Watermelon’s head, saying gently, "Thank you for caring so much about me, Watermelon."

"WOOF~ You’re welcome~" Watermelon grinned.

[There was that news story about a girl stabbed to death by her best friend’s boyfriend. I don’t know if you guys saw it.]

[I saw that one. That’s why I never comment on my friends’ partners anymore. Just respect their choice and wish them the best.]

[Mia’s situation is actually super dangerous. If her best friend’s boyfriend is an extremist, the probability of her getting stabbed is still very high.]

[Sigh, I’ve been in a similar situation. My friend broke up with her boyfriend and ran off to have fun somewhere else, but she told him she was staying at my place. I ended up getting cornered by her boyfriend several times. I had to call the cops to sort it out in the end.]

As Mia read the bullet comments, a cold sweat broke out on her back.

Her expression turned grim. "If Watermelon hadn’t heard them, I never would have dreamed Christina would talk to her boyfriend like that."

’What does their breakup have to do with me? Why would he want to stab me?’

Mia felt like this was all just terrible luck.

"Then I can’t go back," Mia said. "I’ll find a hotel nearby for the night and get my luggage from her place tomorrow."

The next second, her brow furrowed again, her tone full of worry. "But will something happen to Christina? Should I call the police?"

[Probably not. After all, you’re the one her boyfriend wants to stab.]

[Yeah, your friend should be safe. He never said he was going to stab her. You should just look out for yourself.]

[Girl, you’re too kind!]

[Being overly kind is just being stupid!!!]

Looking at the bullet comments, Mia scratched her head awkwardly. "Okay, I’ll just stay out of it then."

The words had barely left her mouth when a banner popped up on her phone screen: an incoming call from Christina.

"Christina’s calling me," Mia said, a little nervous. "Should I answer?"

"Answer it." Renee Jennings gave a slight nod. "Let’s see what she has to say."

"She’s probably calling to rush me to get a late-night snack. I’m answering it now." After saying this, Mia pressed the answer button. "Christina."

Christina’s anxious voice came through the receiver. "Mia, where are you? Get back here, quickly!"

"I’m downstairs walking Watermelon. What’s wrong?" Mia asked.

"Hurry back!" Christina’s voice seemed to have a sob in it. "Jason Thorne is at the door! He keeps pestering me, saying he doesn’t want to break up. I’m a little scared. Mia, can you come back and stay with me?"

Mia suddenly gripped her phone tightly. Her face darkened, left with nothing but disappointment for this friend. Her tone grew colder. "He’s at the door, is he?"

"Yes!" Christina urged. "Mia, hurry back."

"What are you afraid of?"

"He’s being really aggressive! I’m afraid he’ll hit me."

"But you haven’t opened the door, right?"

"Of course not! He’s being so aggressive, how could I dare to open the door?"

Mia gave a slight sneer and retorted coldly, "You don’t dare open the door to face him, yet you’re rushing me to go back? If I go back, I’ll have to face him directly. You think I won’t be scared?"

"He definitely won’t hit you," Christina said as if she were completely in the right. "I’m scared because I’m alone. If you come back, I’ll definitely open the door and face him with you. If there are two of us, we won’t be scared."

Mia found this laughable. "You make it sound so simple. What if I get back and you don’t open the door?"

"How could I not open the door?" The voice on the other end grew frantic. "Mia, how can you think of me like that? Are you still my best friend or not?"

"I should be the one asking you that," Mia asked in a low voice. "Do you really see me as your best friend?"

"Of course I do!" Christina replied without a hint of hesitation.

"You’re lying." Mia saw right through her hypocrisy. "If you really saw me as your best friend, you would be calling to warn me that Jason Thorne is at the door and tell me not to come back yet, not urging me to hurry back."

On the other end of the line, Christina opened her mouth, but it took a long moment before she could squeeze out a few words. "It’s because I was so anxious, I wasn’t thinking straight."

"You were anxious to get me back there so Jason Thorne could stab me to death, right?"

"M-Mia... what are you talking about? I don’t understand what you’re saying."

Mia said coldly, "Stop pretending."

Christina was silent for two seconds, then decided to drop the act. "Mia, what’s with this attitude? I take it you’re not planning on staying at my place tonight, is that right?"

"That’s right," Mia said. "I’ll have a courier pick up my luggage tomorrow. I’m hanging up."

She returned to the livestream and sighed. "I just had a complete falling-out with Christina."

"Why?" Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow.

Mia recounted the phone call, her voice indignant. "I really never thought she was this kind of person. I’m better off without a friend like that."

A slight smile touched Renee Jennings’s lips as she chuckled. "I’m glad you’ve figured it out."
