The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 550: The Children Who Don’t Want Toys

Chapter 550: Chapter 550: The Children Who Don’t Want Toys

Rhea Dempsey shouted at her great-aunt’s retreating back, "You forgot your rotten fruit!"

With that, she grabbed the bag of rotten fruit from the coffee table and ran after her.

"Take your rotten fruit back." Rhea shoved the bag at the woman.

The great-aunt shot her a vicious glare. "You should keep a better eye on your daughter! Why on earth would you let her raise a venomous snake? There’s something wrong with her head!"

Hearing this, Rhea glared back, incensed. "It’s none of your damn business! My daughter can raise whatever she wants. You old hag, mind your own business!"

"You ungrateful brat!" the great-aunt started cursing. "The Dempseys must have had some terrible luck to raise someone like you with no respect for your elders..."

"Apologize to my mother," Renee Jennings said coldly.

When the great-aunt saw her walking out with Kaiser, her already pale face lost even more color. She turned and ran.

However, with a flick of his tail, Kaiser agilely slithered out, blocking the great-aunt’s path and flicking his tongue provocatively.

The great-aunt stopped dead in her tracks, furious and terrified. "Snake..."

’Why is this damned venomous snake here again!’

Renee Jennings repeated coldly, "Apologize to my mother. You can leave after you apologize."

The great-aunt was wary of the venomous snake. No matter how furious she was, she could only grit her teeth and say begrudgingly, "Rhea Dempsey, I’m sorry!"

Renee Jennings: "Not sincere enough."

The great-aunt gritted her teeth, bowed to Rhea Dempsey, and said, "I’m sorry, Rhea Dempsey. I was being a muddled old fool just now. I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that."

"That’s enough." Rhea was annoyed just looking at her and waved her hand. "Just go."

Renee Jennings looked at Kaiser.

With just a glance, he understood and slowly slithered to the side.

The great-aunt shot him a look, then tiptoed cautiously away.

Watching the woman’s retreating back, Renee Jennings put an arm around Rhea Dempsey’s shoulder and raised an eyebrow. "How come I’ve never heard you mention such a bizarre relative before?"

Rhea Dempsey sighed. "I guess she saw your videos online and wanted to come sponge off us. Good thing you brought Kaiser to help, or we’d never have gotten rid of her."

Then, she looked at Kaiser and gave him a kind, gentle smile. "Thank you so much."

Kaiser flicked his tongue lightly. "You’re welcome. Renee is a friend to snakes."

Renee Jennings’s lips curved slightly into a grin. "Alright then, I’ll take you back to the zoo now."

She turned to Rhea Dempsey and said, "Mom, let’s eat out tonight. You guys take Michelle’s car, and have Zeng come along too."

"Okay, I got it," Rhea Dempsey nodded.

As she walked, Renee Jennings took out her phone and called Michelle Fuller, telling her to take the others to the restaurant first.

"Is Korean barbecue okay for tonight?"

Michelle Fuller: "Of course! I actually just bookmarked a barbecue place. Let’s go there?"

"Okay, send me the address."

"Sure, I’ll send it to Faye, too."

"You’re the best."

"Hehe~"

Renee Jennings hung up and opened the car door for Kaiser.

Seeing him try to squeeze back into the leather bag on the passenger seat like before, she said softly, "You don’t have to hide in there. It’s just the two of us in the car, you can relax."

Kaiser lifted his head, nodded slowly, and then coiled up obediently on the passenger seat.

By the time she dropped Kaiser off at the zoo, the sky had grown completely dark.

"Renee, have dinner with me tonight," Faye Wyatt invited again.

Renee Jennings blinked. She felt too bad to refuse again, so she took the woman’s arm and chuckled. "Faye, do you like lively gatherings?"

"Hmm..." Faye Wyatt thought for a moment. "How should I put it? I guess so?"

"Good." Renee Jennings’s lips curved. "Then how about having Korean barbecue with my family tonight?"

Faye Wyatt raised her eyebrows slightly, quickly understanding. "You’re having a family gathering tonight, aren’t you?"

"Not exactly a family gathering," Renee Jennings explained. "We just didn’t cook tonight and decided to eat out. Michelle’s there too."

Faye Wyatt had been about to refuse, not wanting to intrude on a family meal, but hearing that Michelle Fuller was also there eased her hesitation. "Alright, then I won’t stand on ceremony."

The barbecue restaurant was inside a shopping mall. As soon as they entered, Faye Wyatt headed straight for the cosmetics counters. She picked out makeup for Rhea Dempsey, Diana Jennings, and Michelle Fuller, skincare for Dalton Jenson, and hand cream for Glenn Zane.

As for the children, Faye Wyatt had already decided to take Zane and Jasmine to pick out their own toys after dinner.

"Faye, you’re spending way too much," Renee Jennings said, feeling a little embarrassed. "If I’d known, I would have invited you some other day."

"Why say something so distant?" Faye Wyatt chided. "We’re sisters, aren’t we?"

When they entered the private room, everyone greeted Faye Wyatt, and she took the opportunity to hand out the gifts.

Glenn Zane, receiving his gift, waved his hands in flattered refusal. "Thank you, but I can’t possibly accept this."

’He was just an employee. It was already generous of his employers to include him in the meal, how could he possibly accept a gift from a guest?’

"There’s no reason you can’t. It’s a gift, so just accept it." Faye Wyatt placed it directly in front of him. Then she looked at the two adorable children. "Zane, Jasmine, after we eat, how about Auntie takes you to pick out some toys?"

Zane gave a boyish smile. "Thank you, Auntie, but my sister and I don’t need any more toys. We already have a lot at home."

Jasmine added in a soft voice, "That’s right, pretty Auntie. We don’t need toys."

Faye Wyatt had never been particularly fond of children. Most of the kids she saw at the zoo were naughty, always crying and screaming for this or that. This was the first time she had ever met children who didn’t want toys.

"Oh my goodness, how can you two be so well-behaved?" she said, completely shocked. "You’re just too good."

"Thank you for the compliment, Auntie," Zane said with a shy smile.

Jasmine pointed to the seat next to Renee Jennings. "Auntie, sit. Eat barbecue."

"Okay." Faye Wyatt’s smile bloomed like a rose. Looking at the two little ones, the more she looked, the more she liked them.

After dinner, Faye Wyatt insisted on taking Zane and Jasmine to look at toys.

Both Rhea Dempsey and Diana Jennings felt very awkward about it. They pulled Renee Jennings aside and said, "Renee, when it’s time to pay, you need to stop her a bit. I’ll pay for it."

"Okay," Renee Jennings obediently agreed.

However, when it was time to check out, Faye Wyatt pretended to let Rhea Dempsey pay. But just as the cashier was about to scan the items, she quickly thrust her own phone forward, and the payment went through successfully.

Rhea Dempsey: "..."

’What just happened?’

She turned to Faye Wyatt, frowning. "Didn’t we agree that I would pay?"

"Auntie, I promise I won’t snatch the bill next time," Faye Wyatt said with a smile. "This time it’s because it’s my first time meeting Zane and Jasmine. This is my first-meeting gift for them."

"Faye, you’re just too thoughtful," Rhea Dempsey said, ashamed. "We didn’t prepare anything for you."

"It’s fine," said Faye Wyatt. "The most important thing is that everyone had a good time tonight."

Rhea Dempsey took her hand and extended a warm invitation: "Alright, then next time, you have to come to our house for a home-cooked meal. I’ll cook."
