Chapter 557: Yvonne Is Your and Genevieve’s Daughter

Chapter 557: Chapter 557: Yvonne Is Your and Genevieve’s Daughter

The car drove through the night. Aria Sinclair checked Renee Jennings’s homepage several times but didn’t see her streaming. She murmured, "It’s her birthday today. She probably won’t stream."

"Yeah," Zachary Morgan sighed.

Aria Sinclair thought of Yvonne Morgan’s birthday party tonight, then of Renee Jennings. "I wonder if the Jennings family will celebrate her birthday?"

"Of course they will." Zachary Morgan patted his wife’s hand. "Renee was the daughter they cherished for twenty-four years, just like we cherish Yvonne."

"That may be so, but Yvonne..." Aria Sinclair let out a long sigh. ’I just feel like Yvonne has changed.’

"Really?" Zachary Morgan hadn’t spent much time with Yvonne recently, so he hadn’t noticed anything.

Aria Sinclair opened her mouth, but in the end, she said nothing.

She opened her direct messages with Renee and sent two words: "Happy birthday."

「The next day.」

Zoe Morgan asked Zachary Morgan to visit Old Mr. Morgan at the nursing home with her, and afterward, they made a trip to the cemetery.

Inky and its friend were playing nearby. Seeing humans approach, they were about to find a new spot, but then they heard the mention of a familiar name.

Renee Jennings?

’Huh? Isn’t that Renee’s full name?’

’Do these two humans know Renee?’

Inky turned to its friend. "Let’s play here a little longer. I heard something useful, and I want to hear more."

Its friend nodded. "Okay."

Zoe Morgan knelt before Old Mrs. Morgan’s tombstone, set down the flowers, and said softly, "Mom, my brother and I have come to see you."

Zoe took out a handkerchief and wiped the dust from the photograph. "Mom, I’m here today to admit I was wrong."

Hearing this, a flicker of confusion crossed Zachary Morgan’s eyes. "Admit you were wrong? About what?"

Zoe Morgan fell silent for a moment, then stood up and walked over to Zachary Morgan. "Brother, I’m sorry. I’ve wronged you, and I’ve wronged your wife."

"Vivi, what are you talking about?" Zachary Morgan was completely baffled. "What could you have possibly done to wrong me and your wife?"

"I..." Zoe seemed to lack the courage to say it, managing only a single word before falling silent again.

Zachary Morgan frowned. "Vivi, if you have something to say, just say it directly."

Zoe Morgan clenched her fists and dropped to her knees with a THUD.

Startled by her sudden move, Zachary Morgan took a few steps back. "What is going on? Get up and explain yourself."

"Brother." Zoe Morgan’s voice was choked with sobs. "I’ve made an unforgivable mistake. I don’t dare to hope for your forgiveness. I only ask that you don’t take your anger out on Yvonne."

Zachary Morgan was even more confused. "What does this have to do with Yvonne?"

"Brother, the truth is... Yvonne is your biological daughter." After long deliberation, Zoe had decided to just confess everything to her brother.

"Wh-what are you saying?" Zachary Morgan’s brow furrowed, his expression growing grave. "How could Yvonne possibly be my biological daughter?"

’He and Aria Sinclair had done a paternity test with Yvonne back then.’

’She wasn’t their daughter.’

"Yvonne, just like Renee, is your biological daughter," Zoe Morgan explained from her kneeling position. "But she is not your wife’s biological daughter."

Zachary Morgan’s pupils contracted violently. An expression of profound shock washed over his face, mingled with the daze of someone completely blindsided.

"This... How is this possible? It’s impossible!"

"Brother." Zoe tilted her face up, tears streaming from the corners of her eyes. "Yvonne is your daughter with Genevieve."

"Genevieve?" Zachary Morgan frowned, searching his memory. "You mean Genevieve Hayes? How could I possibly have a daughter with her? This is absurd."

"I know it’s absurd," Zoe choked out, "but it’s the truth."

A thought struck Zachary Morgan, and his expression suddenly turned grim. His voice was laced with displeasure. "Zoe Morgan, how did something like this happen?"

"Genevieve was always secretly in love with you."

"That was her business. What does it have to do with me? How could I have a daughter with her without my knowledge? I’ll ask you one last time: are you absolutely sure you’re not joking?"

Zoe Morgan squeezed her eyes shut in anguish. "I loved Genevieve, but you were the only one in her heart, Brother."

Hearing this, Zachary found the whole situation even more absurd and laughable.

He ground his teeth, suppressing the rage in his heart as he demanded, "So what? Because you loved Genevieve Hayes, and she was in love with me, you set me up to have sex with her?"

"Brother, it wasn’t a setup," Zoe Morgan refuted, shaking her head. "I was just helping Genevieve be with the man she loved. I love her. I would do anything for her, even sacrifice my own life."

Zachary Morgan’s eyes filled with astonishment. "Are you insane? This is completely irrational! Did you ever consider my feelings? Did you ever consider your wife’s feelings?"

"I know I was wrong." Zoe lowered her head. "That’s why I’m admitting it to you now, in front of Mom."

Zachary’s face was ashen with rage. "And you call this admitting you were wrong?"

Zoe Morgan fell silent.

"How exactly did you orchestrate all of this?" Zachary demanded, furious.

"That time you were on a business trip abroad... at night, I would put a little something in your soup..." Zoe said, her voice trembling. "And then I’d send Genevieve to your room."

Unable to restrain himself any longer, Zachary raised his hand and slapped her across the face.

Zoe’s head snapped to the side, her eyes welling with tears. "Brother, I had no choice! I love Genevieve, and she was crying, begging me to help her. How could I refuse her? I couldn’t!"

"Then what about Yvonne and Renee?" Zachary demanded through gritted teeth.

"I never expected Genevieve to hemorrhage so badly after giving birth..." Zoe’s sobs grew more heart-wrenching. "She was so weak that day, so haggard... With the last of her strength, she begged me... begged me to let Yvonne stay by your side."

"So you swapped her with my and your wife’s biological daughter?" Zachary’s eyes were filled with rage and disappointment. "Zoe Morgan, you are so selfish!"

"Brother, I know I’ve wronged you and your wife," Zoe said, prostrating herself on the ground and sobbing uncontrollably. "I’m not asking for your forgiveness. I only hope... that you and your wife can be kind to Yvonne."

"After doing something like this, you still have the nerve to ask your wife to be kind to Yvonne?" Zachary found it utterly ridiculous.

’His sister had truly lost her mind!’

"Brother, I’m begging you." Zoe slammed her forehead onto the back of her hand. "Yvonne is your own flesh and blood. Just like Renee, she has the blood of the Morgan family flowing in her veins."

"Zoe Morgan, you’re putting me in an impossible position! You’re so damn selfish!"

"I know I’m selfish, but I’m your sister. You’re the only one who can help me now."

Zachary Morgan’s face was grim. He said nothing, his heart filled with a rage he had no way to vent. He pointed at her, his words directed at Old Mrs. Morgan’s tombstone. "Mom, look at your precious daughter! If you have any awareness in the afterlife, then why don’t you just take her with you!"

The color drained from Zoe Morgan’s face. She seemed to have never imagined that Zachary Morgan could be so ruthless and cruel, showing not an ounce of consideration for their bond as siblings.
