Chapter 570: Chapter 570: She Usurped Renee’s Life
Hearing what Sheryl Sterling had done, Michelle Fuller’s grip on the steering wheel tightened. "Damn, what kind of friend is that? She’s an insult to the very word."
"Yeah," Renee Jennings said softly. "Reina Vance said she’s meeting Sheryl Sterling today to get things straight."
"Where are they meeting?" Michelle Fuller asked curiously.
Renee: "Let me ask."
"Okay~"
Five minutes later, Renee Jennings received a reply from Reina Vance. "At Roland Shopping Center."
"What a coincidence. It’s right across the street," Michelle Fuller said, pointing out the car window. "So, maybe we should..."
Renee Jennings knew exactly what she was thinking and said with a sigh, "If you want to go, then go. But I’m not sure if Rain would be comfortable with us being there."
"We’ll just find a place to eavesdrop," Michelle Fuller said with a sly grin. "That way, she won’t have to send you a massive text explaining how it went. Still, we should ask if she’d be okay with us listening in."
Renee Jennings gave a slight nod. "Alright, I’ll message her now and ask."
Michelle Fuller turned left at the next intersection, pulling into the Roland Shopping Center’s parking garage.
The name of the mall, Roland, brought her back to the conversation she’d had with Sean Fuller last night.
Michelle Fuller’s expression turned serious. "By the way, Renee, I have a weird feeling about that girl Hank’s been talking to recently."
"What’s wrong?" Renee asked.
Michelle Fuller recounted their conversation from the previous night. "And her name just happens to be Lani. I suspect she’s Yvonne Morgan, but that brat Sean Fuller doesn’t even know the girl’s full name."
"That does sound strange," Renee Jennings said, her slender brows knitting together. "Why don’t you ask Hank if he has a picture of her?"
"Right, how could I forget?" Michelle Fuller parked the car and pulled out her phone to call Sean Fuller.
The brat hadn’t even been out of bed when she left the house, and he still sounded half-asleep.
"Sis, what’s up?"
Michelle Fuller: "Do you have a picture of that Lani girl? Send it to me."
"Oh..." Sean Fuller yawned, put the call on speaker, and squinted as he scrolled through Yvonne Morgan’s social media feed. He forwarded a picture from her birthday a couple of days ago. "Sent. Why do you want her picture?"
"I think she’s an enemy of mine," Michelle Fuller said as she opened WeChat.
"Huh?" Sean Fuller shot up in bed, suddenly wide awake. "An enemy? Are you serious?"
"Yes. She stole Renee’s life." Michelle Fuller opened the photo Sean Fuller had sent. Her brow instantly furrowed, and she said through gritted teeth, "Yep. It’s her."
She handed the phone to Renee. "Renee, look. It’s her, isn’t it?"
Renee’s gaze fell on the screen, a hint of confusion in her voice. "How does Hank know Yvonne Morgan?"
"I don’t know either." Michelle Fuller barked into the phone, "Brat, fess up! Now!"
"I remember now!" Sean Fuller suddenly exclaimed. "I think she actually did say her name was Yvonne Morgan at the time."
"How did you two meet?" Michelle Fuller pressed.
Sean Fuller recalled, "One time, after I dropped you and Renee off to see Sharon, Yvonne came up to me. She said her phone was dead and she couldn’t call a cab, so she asked if she could charge it in my car for a while. Man, it’s my own fault for being too handsome."
Michelle Fuller: "..."
She was speechless. Rolling her eyes, she said, "Bro, can you please use your brain for a second?"
"Think about what?" Sean Fuller asked, confused.
"She didn’t come talk to you because you’re handsome. It was because you were with Renee."
"Huh?"
"What do you mean, ’huh’? You moron..." The word was on the tip of her tongue, but Michelle Fuller remembered he was her little brother, after all. She swapped it for a different insult. "You big dummy!"
"No way..." Sean Fuller couldn’t process all this new information. "Sis, hold on. I need a minute to get my head straight."
Michelle Fuller hung up. ’Don’t blame him,’ she told herself. ’After all, our parents gave me all the good genes. It’s only natural he’d be a little slow.’
After they got out of the car, Renee Jennings linked her arm with Michelle’s and mused, "Why would Yvonne Morgan try to get close to Hank?"
"Maybe she thought Hank was your boyfriend?" Michelle Fuller guessed.
After all, whenever they went out, Sean Fuller was always closer to Renee, even joking that Renee was his real sister.
Renee pursed her lips. "I’m not sure. It’s possible."
"This won’t do. I have to make Hank send me his chat history so I can see what that damn woman is really after." Michelle Fuller then sent a voice message to Sean Fuller. "Send me your chat log with Yvonne Morgan... Actually, never mind. Just get yourself together and come meet us at Roland Shopping Center."
’Why bother with screenshots when he can just bring me the whole phone?’
Probably because of this whole mess, Michelle Fuller instantly lost all interest in shopping. She found a nearby coffee shop and sat down.
After ordering their coffee, Renee saw Michelle staring into space. She waved a hand in front of her friend’s face. "What are you thinking about?"
"I just don’t get it," Michelle Fuller said, her brow deeply furrowed. "Why on earth would Yvonne Morgan try to get close to the people in your life?"
Renee pursed her lips in thought, then said softly, "Maybe to try and steal you all away from me."
"Huh?" Michelle Fuller’s eyes widened in shock, her voice full of disbelief. "What is she even thinking? Where does she get that kind of confidence? Steal us away from you? In her dreams!"
’She was determined to be Renee’s number one fan. Nobody could steal her away.’
Renee’s lips curved into a smile. She patted Michelle on the head and said in a soothing, child-like tone, "Okay, let’s not think about that for now. We came out to have fun, so let’s be happy. After coffee, I’ll take you to play the claw machines."
"Deal." Michelle Fuller nodded, pushing those messy thoughts aside.
An hour later, Sean Fuller arrived at Roland Shopping Center.
He stood at the entrance of the coffee shop, taking a few moments to mentally prepare himself before finally mustering the courage to walk inside.
The moment he saw Renee Jennings, Sean Fuller began to pledge his loyalty, tripping over apologies and explanations. "Renee, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to befriend the enemy."
He felt an urge to drop to his knees, but realizing it wasn’t the time or place, he forced himself to stand straight.
"Renee, I only just found out that Yvonne... no, that *woman* is the one who stole your identity."
"If I’d known who she was, I would’ve never given her the time of day."
"Oh no, I wouldn’t have just ignored her. I would’ve cussed her out so bad she’d question her own existence."
Renee raised an eyebrow and chuckled. "Don’t be so nervous. I don’t blame you."
"You might not blame me, but I blame myself," Sean Fuller said, deeply frustrated. "This is basically... basically like siding with the enemy, isn’t it? I must have been blind!"
He didn’t dare admit that he’d actually started to like Yvonne Morgan. After meeting a few times, he had even considered asking her to be his girlfriend.
His words made Renee laugh. "It’s okay. At least you found out now. It’s not too late."
"Good thing I’m smart and figured it out in time," Michelle Fuller remarked. "Otherwise, even groveling on your knees wouldn’t have helped you now."
