Chapter 707: Chapter 707: So Bold
Andrea Hayes?
Renee Jennings froze for a couple of seconds, then looked up at the girl across from her as a sudden flood of thoughts rushed through her mind.
"Host Jennings?"
"Huh?"
"Host Jennings... are we still adding each other on WeChat?"
Renee Jennings snapped back to reality and quickly scanned Andrea Hayes’s WeChat QR code with her phone.
’Is it just the same name?’
’Or is it really that much of a coincidence?’
The information Henry Stark had originally dug up showed that Andrea Hayes was in Lynfell, but later Zoe Morgan confessed that she had sent Wendy Lowe’s biological daughter to an orphanage in Wyrin back then.
When they later contacted the director of that orphanage, they learned that the director who had taken Andrea Hayes in had already passed away.
To make matters worse, a fire had broken out at the orphanage, and many of the records had been burned beyond repair.
After adding her on WeChat, Renee Jennings was about to look for the file Henry Stark had sent her when she heard Shawn Cheney speak up from the side.
"Consultant Jennings, Carmen says Little Sparrow is back."
Renee Jennings’s fingers paused, and she turned off her phone screen.
She looked at Andrea Hayes and said softly, "I have something to take care of, so let’s keep in touch on WeChat."
"Okay, okay." Andrea Hayes nodded with a smile. "WeChat it is."
"See you next time." Renee Jennings gave her a slight nod and turned to walk back.
Carmen Lane saw them and pointed to the birds perched in the tree, her voice filled with excitement. "Little Sparrow called over a ton of friends and family!"
As Renee Jennings got closer, she saw that the branches were packed with a dense flock of birds.
Her eyes suddenly lit up, and a smile spread across her face. "Little Sparrow, you’re amazing! You actually found so many brothers and sisters to help."
Little Sparrow flapped its wings and flew in front of her, then folded them and landed on her shoulder, saying smugly, "CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP~ Hehe, to tell you the truth, this sparrow is the darling of the flock!"
Renee Jennings’s lips curled into a smile. "Then I really did ask the right sparrow today. That’s great."
Little Sparrow said to its brothers and sisters in the tree, "CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP~ Didn’t you guys see someone murder a person in this house the other day? Hurry up and tell this sparrow’s human friend about it!"
Renee Jennings said with a grin, "Thank you all for your help. I’ll treat you to something delicious in a bit."
A slightly larger sparrow also flapped its wings and flew over, familiarly landing on her other shoulder.
"CHIRP? What do you want to know?" the large sparrow asked.
Little Sparrow introduced it. "CHIRP! This is this sparrow’s great-uncle."
Renee Jennings explained softly, "Great-Uncle, a family in this house has an alpaca. A few days ago, the alpaca’s owner killed a delivery guy. I want to know what happened. Did any of you sparrows see it?"
The great-uncle nodded. "CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP! This sparrow understands. A sparrow did see the scene. By the time this sparrow rushed over to watch the show, the delivery guy was already dead!"
It added, "CHIRP CHIRP! Wait a second, this sparrow will call over the one that watched the whole thing!"
It spread its wings, circled in mid-air for a moment, and shouted to a sparrow on a branch, "CHIRP CHIRP~ Blossom, come out here."
The next second, a small sparrow flew out. "CHIRP? Great-Uncle, were you looking for this sparrow?"
"CHIRP~ Come with this sparrow." The great-uncle brought the little sparrow named Blossom over to Renee Jennings. "CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP~ Blossom saw the whole show that day. Let it tell you about it."
Blossom was still a bit confused. "CHIRP? Huh? What show?"
It was a gossipy little sparrow that watched drama unfold in different places every day.
So the great-uncle quickly filled it in on the details.
Blossom finally understood. "CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP! I remember now! You’re talking about the drama with those humans who have the alpaca!"
Renee Jennings held out her hand to Blossom. "Blossom, could you please tell me what happened that day? Thank you."
Blossom hesitated for two seconds before folding its wings and landing in the web of her thumb. "CHIRP~ Okay."
"Blossom, how many people were in the alpaca’s home that day?" Renee Jennings asked.
Blossom began to recall the events in detail...
It was a bright and sunny afternoon.
Not long after Diana Young had finished her stream, someone used a key to open the door to her apartment.
Lying on the sofa, she glanced back and asked in confusion, "What are you doing here? My sister isn’t back yet."
"Can’t I come see you just because your sister isn’t home?" The man took off his leather jacket and sat on the sofa, his eyes brazenly roaming over her figure.
The heat was on in the apartment. Diana Young was a variety streamer who, in order to attract fans, dressed rather revealingly for her streams. She was only wearing a small lace slip dress, and when she lay down, the hem didn’t even cover her thighs.
Sensing his gaze, she grabbed a throw pillow and placed it on her lap.
The man scoffed and laughed. "Oh, so I’m not allowed to look?"
"Go look at my sister," Diana Young said, her eyes fixed on her phone, not even looking up.
The man scooted closer. "I’ve seen your sister’s. She’s not as pale as you, not as delicate."
Diana Young frowned and turned her head to glare at him. "Are you crazy?"
"I’m not lying." The man’s tone was laced with a disturbing sincerity. "Your sister’s body really isn’t as good as yours."
Diana Young rolled her eyes. "Believe it or not, I’ll tell my sister."
"Go on, tell her." The man was unconcerned. "I’m sure she’ll agree with me."
"..."
"Dana."
"Don’t be disgusting," Diana Young said, throwing the pillow from her lap at him.
The man caught the pillow and took a deep sniff. "Smells good, but not as good as your body."
Diana Young couldn’t be bothered with him and decided to go back to her room.
But as soon as she stood up, the man grabbed her and forcefully pulled her into his arms.
"Dana, did you know? I’ve wanted to hold you like this for a long time." As he spoke, he buried his face in Diana Young’s shoulder and sniffed hard.
Diana Young froze completely, shocked that he would be so bold.
She struggled twice to no avail and said angrily, "Harold Goodman, show some respect! Your girlfriend is my sister!"
"It’s fine." Harold Goodman laughed with shameless confidence. "My girlfriend can be switched to you at any time."
"Ptooey!" Diana Young spat in his face. "I wouldn’t want you if you were the last man on earth!"
"So sweet." Harold Goodman smacked his lips and tightened his grip. "You’ve got way more of a temper than your sister. But to be honest, I prefer your fiery type. A compliant woman like your sister is no fun."
"How can you say that about my sister?" Diana Young raised her hand and slapped him across the face.
Harold Goodman’s head snapped to the side. He sucked in a breath. "HISS~ That was exhilarating!"
With that, he stood up while holding Diana Young, threw her heavily back onto the sofa, and pinned her down firmly, his hands beginning to wander improperly.
"Let go of me!" Diana Young struggled with all her might, crying out for help. "Help! Pervert! Help!"
Her screams woke the dozing alpaca.
"Help, someone save me!" Diana Young was still screaming.
The alpaca understood. It immediately charged over, grabbed the man’s pants with its mouth, and tried to pull him off Diana Young.
Seeing this, Harold Goodman punched it a few times with his fist. "You little bastard, get the hell away!"
