Return to the City: The Strongest King

Chapter 2485 - 2275: Defiant Against All

Chapter 2485: Chapter 2275: Defiant Against All

The middle-aged woman had fine brows and clear eyes. Although she looked exceedingly weary, her youthful beauty could not be concealed.

But what she brought in was nearly not human-shaped; the limbs barely discernible as belonging to a person, not even reaching the height of the woman’s thigh. Her facial features were twisted together, her spine severely bent, the entire body forming a spherical shape, with wrinkled skin, appearing much like a deflated inflatable doll.

Song Xiaodong was originally lazily seated on the chair, but upon seeing the person brought in by the middle-aged woman, his gaze suddenly sharpened.

The experts present were also visibly shocked upon seeing this person.

"What’s going on with this patient?" Qian Hengbo asked in amazement.

No one could answer this question; the experts present were so stunned upon seeing the patient led by the middle-aged woman that they were at a loss for words.

"When did this begin for the patient?" Sun Hongmian asked the middle-aged woman.

"After she turned 12," the middle-aged woman replied.

"So it was after puberty?" Qian Hengbo asked the middle-aged woman.

"Yes," the middle-aged woman replied.

"Is this a boy or a girl?" Sun Hongmian inquired.

"This is a girl." After answering this question, the middle-aged woman’s gaze suddenly became somewhat sorrowful.

Upon hearing the middle-aged woman’s words, the experts began to quietly discuss among themselves.

Song Xiaodong, hearing the middle-aged woman’s words, couldn’t help but sigh.

"How old is she now?" Sun Hongmian further asked the middle-aged woman.

"Tell Auntie how old you are," the middle-aged woman said gently and empathetically, crouching down to speak to her daughter.

"Auntie, I am 18 years old this year," the girl’s voice was very pleasant, but coming from such a twisted figure resembling ancient tree roots, this clear and sweet voice sent chills over everyone present.

"Ah..." someone unknowingly breathed a sigh.

This disorder can be said to be exceptional; even veteran physicians and experts practicing acupuncture their entire lives may never encounter such a patient, much less treat one.

Sun Hongmian volunteered, walking up to the middle-aged woman and her daughter, crouching to gently ask her daughter, "What’s your name?"

"My name is Chen Meiyu." After answering Sun Hongmian’s question, the girl embarrassedly lowered her head.

The veteran experts present couldn’t help but sigh softly and shake their heads upon hearing the girl’s response.

A young lady, a beautiful name, for some reason paired with such an ugly figure.

Sun Hongmian scrutinized the girl named Chen Meiyu from head to toe.

Though she was clearly 18 years old, her height was less than that of an eight-year-old child. Despite being a girl, her skin resembled rough, dry bark. Although a girl, she lacked a graceful appearance; her facial features were twisted like a congenital deformity, her stature contorted from scoliosis, forming a 90-degree angle, rendering her unable to lift her head.

Why there exists such a strange condition in the world, turning a beautiful girl into such an repulsive monstrosity that makes one’s skin crawl, is unknown.

"She wasn’t like this when she was young, was she?" Sun Hongmian asked the middle-aged woman.

The middle-aged woman seemed to have answered this question too many times. Without responding, she lowered her head, skillfully retrieved a photograph from her floral-patterned bag, handing it over to Sun Hongmian.

Sun Hongmian took the photograph handed by the middle-aged woman, looking at it—it was a picture of a beautiful young girl, appearing around ten years old.

Chapter 2278 Defying Everyone

Her appearance resembled the middle-aged beautiful woman; the two looked almost identical.

If the girl were to develop normally, she should grow into a beautiful woman like her mother.

But she didn’t. Her mother had become an aged middle-aged woman, while she had become what the village referred to as a monster and a curse.

Sun Hongmian had initially approached only as a gesture to observe briefly; some patients only need a glance before one knows they cannot be treated. Nonetheless, unable to resist, Sun Hongmian had to step forward, but after a thorough examination, turned around helplessly, shaking her head, looking with pleading eyes towards the other baffled experts.

Other experts also approached to diagnose Chen Meiyu, but aside from looking like a monster, everything about Chen Meiyu’s physical condition was normal.

The cautious expert discussion gradually erupted into loud debate; Chen Meiyu and the middle-aged woman were observed as if they were animals in a circus cage, rudely scrutinized by people. Soon, Chen Meiyu found herself terrified by the situation, beginning to softly weep.

Upon noticing Chen Meiyu frightened into tears, the acupuncture experts present finally reached a consensus: that they unanimously recognized the condition as undiagnosable by acupuncture, or that it was not a disease at all, but a congenital deformity—in simple terms, a genetic disorder.
