Chapter 2557: Chapter 2335: I’ll Get You a Sponsor Ad, Okay? (5)

Li Zhongfeng was so scared he took a step back, but his hand holding the knife reflexively thrust forward.

There was a squelching sound, and blood splattered all over Li Zhongfeng and Song Jiaren’s faces. The knife in Li Zhongfeng’s hand had stabbed into Chen Xinghai’s stomach.

"Ah!..." Song Jiaren finally reacted, her sharp, piercing scream tearing through the night of Stone Town.

Li Zhongfeng held the knife, with blood all over the knife, his hands, and face. Chen Xinghai lay on the ground in pain, clutching his stomach, and soon a pool of blood began to form on the ground.

With a clatter, Li Zhongfeng threw the knife down and turned to run away.

The remaining three punks were left standing in shock, unsure of how to react.

"Call the police!" Song Jiaren squatted on the ground, holding Chen Xinghai in her arms, and shouted at the three stunned punks.

The three punks finally came to their senses. Things had gotten serious; someone had died, and everyone was in trouble. So, one of the punks hurriedly said, "What’s the use of calling the police? There’s no one on duty at the town’s police station in the middle of the night!"

"Then call 120!" Song Jiaren shouted again.

"120 would send an ambulance from Minghe; it would take two hours to get here, and by the time they arrive, it’ll be too late!" one of the punks said.

"Then we have to take him to the town hospital!" Another punk finally responded.

"Call them to get a car here!" Song Jiaren demanded.

"Alright." One of the punks took out his phone and called the town’s hospital.

"Hello? There’s been an incident, someone got stabbed at the east end of the village, in front of Tianbao Hotel! You better come quickly!"

One of the benefits of living in a town is that since it’s very small, transportation is extremely convenient. From the east end of the village to the west end doesn’t take five minutes, and after receiving the call, the town hospital dispatched a car in three minutes to take Chen Xinghai to the health center for simple bandaging.

The three punks helped take Chen Xinghai to the town hospital, watched him enter the operating room, and then quietly slipped away, leaving only Song Jiaren behind.

After a short while, the hospital corridor was filled with the sound of hurried footsteps, accompanied by the crying and indistinct words of a middle-aged woman.

"Oh, Xinghai... I told you not to be the hero... but you said you couldn’t just stand by and watch that girl get bullied, right?"

Song Jiaren could see that the person was likely Chen Xinghai’s mother, simply dressed, short and plump, with bronze skin and a red headscarf, ready to rush into the operating room.

"Auntie, Auntie, please don’t worry, they are performing surgery inside!" Song Jiaren hurriedly stopped her.

"You are that girl?" Chen Xinghai’s mother asked Song Jiaren.

"Yes, I am." Song Jiaren replied, lowering her head in embarrassment.

"Ah!" Chen Xinghai’s mother sighed heavily, clutching Song Jiaren’s arms tightly with both hands.

"You, young girl, what were you doing out at this hour?" Chen Xinghai’s mother said anxiously and angrily.

Song Jiaren bowed her head, not daring to speak.

After a while, the physician came out of the operating room, and both Song Jiaren and Chen Xinghai’s mother gathered around him.

"We feared there might be damage to the digestive tract. We have temporarily stopped the bleeding, but he needs to be transferred to Minghe." The physician informed Song Jiaren and Chen Xinghai’s mother.

"Okay."

"If you agree, please sign; who is the family member?"

"I am." Chen Xinghai’s mother signed the form.

"Let’s go then."

Chen Xinghai’s mother and Song Jiaren went together to Minghe’s central hospital.

The next morning, Miao Xuanxuan saw this news while watching TV.

"Punks molest pedestrians late at night, brave officer Xiao Chen injured in line of duty."

The news picture prominently featured Song Jiaren.

"Xiaodong? Come see this!" Miao Xuanxuan called to Song Xiaodong.

Song Xiaodong came into Ming Xuanxuan’s room, and Mr. Miao handed the tablet to Song Xiaodong.

"What is it?" Song Xiaodong asked.

"Doesn’t this person in the picture look like that Song Jiaren who got drunk at our home the other day?" Miao Xuanxuan asked.

Song Xiaodong took a look.

"Oh, it really is her!" Song Xiaodong said in surprise.

"I’ll give her a call."

Song Xiaodong called Song Jiaren.

"Jiaren? Is it true that this news about heroic police action in the newspaper, the officer was injured saving you? The person in the photo looks just like you." Song Xiaodong said.

"Mr. Song, it’s me. He was stabbed while saving me." Song Jiaren, who had obviously been crying, replied.

"Oh dear, where are you right now?" Song Xiaodong asked.

"I’m at the central hospital; Chen Xinghai is still in surgery. The doctor said he hasn’t passed the critical stage yet." Song Jiaren said.

"Alright, don’t worry. We’re coming over right away." Song Xiaodong said.

"Okay."

Song Xiaodong called Kong Siman.

"Xiaoman?"

"Family Head."

"Wait for me at the big courtyard."

"Got it."

Song Xiaodong and Kong Siman went to the central hospital.

"Family Head, where are we going?" Kong Siman asked.

"To the central hospital." Song Xiaodong replied.

"What for? What’s going on?"

"Song Jiaren encountered some punks, and a policeman saved her. The policeman got stabbed and is now being treated at the central hospital." Song Xiaodong explained.

"Chapter 2339: The driver kicked me out"

"What? How could this happen?" Kong Siman exclaimed in shock.

"I don’t know the details yet; let’s go check it out first." Song Xiaodong said.
