Chapter 2068: Extra Story 50: Affection

The Beiyan Regent’s Consort awoke, and everyone was filled with immense joy. However, since her body had weakened significantly, she still needed careful nurturing in the coming days to gradually regain her strength.

During the days of unconsciousness, Wufu had completely stopped producing milk, leaving the Little Bun without a supply. Fortunately, he had grown accustomed to Lady Liang’s feeding, and occasionally accepted milk from other wet nurses as well. Wufu had none, and he merely grunted a few times before ceasing to seek her out for nourishment.

In fact, even if Wufu had milk to offer, everyone discouraged her from feeding personally, due to her frail condition.

"I hope he won’t hold it against me when he grows up," Wufu said with some guilt.

Ah Jiu, who was personally feeding her chicken soup, said with wide eyes, "I’d like to see him try!"

"Don’t be harsh to my son," Wufu protested with discontent.

Ah Jiu immediately smiled ingratiatingly, finished feeding her the soup, wiped the corners of her mouth with a handkerchief, and carefully tucked in her blankets.

Moved by his series of actions, Wufu felt a warmth in her heart and said, "There are plenty of people to take care of me here. You don’t need to hover around me. You are the Regent King; there are many matters outside awaiting your attention."

Ah Jiu replied, "I can always find a little time to sit and talk with you."

Seeing his face had grown thinner, Wufu said, "I’ve made you worry these past few days; thank you for your hard work."

"Don’t say that. As long as you’re well, I don’t feel it was hard," Ah Jiu said, holding her hand. "Don’t leave me behind."

"Okay."

"I’ve already sent a letter to Royal Mother, so you don’t need to worry. Just focus on recuperating," Ah Jiu said again. "In recent days, several local officials’ wives have sought to visit you. I have instructed people to turn them away, so you don’t need to trouble yourself dealing with them."

As he rambled on with his instructions, Wufu listened, a gentle smile on her lips, feeling a sense of tranquility and peace.

Lady Liang arrived with the Little Bun in her arms, and Ah Jiu very tactfully said, "I’ll head to the front yard to tend to some matters and return in the evening to dine with you."

"Mm." Wufu waved him off.

Ah Jiu kissed her forehead before finally leaving.

Lady Liang came over, placing the Little Bun next to Wufu, and smiled, "The Princely Heir is awake and here to greet his mother."

Wufu wanted to hold him, and Lady Liang asked, "Do you have the strength?"

"It’s fine; I can still hold him for a bit."

So, Lady Liang placed the child in her hands. Wufu detected a faint medicinal scent on her son and asked, "Has he taken medicine?"

"It was some medicinal soup prescribed by that miraculous doctor named Xiao Bai. He said it would strengthen and fortify him, as he was born prematurely," Lady Liang explained.

Upon hearing this, Wufu said no more. Gazing at her son’s tiny face, her heart turned as soft as tofu. After a few moments of mother-and-son gaze, she turned to Lady Liang and said, "Aunt, I have no milk to feed him myself. Thank you for taking care of him during these days; it’s been a lot for you."

"It’s nothing, really. I consider myself lucky. I’ve had the best food and drink. Look, I’ve even put on a little weight," Lady Liang chuckled.

She had to feed two, so her milk needed to be ample. In this manor, there was no shortage of various nourishing supplements, and she could only eat heartily. Besides that, the miraculous doctor also took her pulse and helped her regulate her body.

Lady Liang felt she had stumbled into a nest of blessings. She had only taken care of the Little Bun, but she knew in her heart that this bond of shared milk would always be remembered by the child in the future, and Wufu was not someone who would forget kindness.

She wasn’t hoping for benefits for herself; it would be good enough if her own two children could benefit from it. This thought might be a bit selfish, but what mother doesn’t think for her own children?
