Chapter 2083: Extra Chapter 65: Would You Be Willing to Lend a Hand?

When Wufu and Ah Jiu returned from the Meng family to their residence, they saw two people standing by the door: a man with a large belly and a young woman beside him.

"Wufu."

The man shouted in surprise, and Wufu looked over, her face darkening with displeasure in her eyes.

The man tried to rush forward but was blocked by guards wielding swords. Urgently, he shouted, "Wufu, it’s me. I’m your father."

Wufu’s mouth curled coldly. She truly hadn’t expected to see this man in her lifetime—Wu Lihong, her so-called biological father.

Looking at his swollen belly and sides, she thought, ah, the saying ’evil lives on for a thousand years’ truly applies to him.

Ah Jiu frowned and looked at Wufu. She said with disgust, "Let’s go inside."

"Ah, Your Royal Highness the Princess Consort, your father..." the young woman began to speak but was stopped by a fierce glance from Wufu, making her freeze with fear, not daring to utter another word.

Wu Lihong still wanted to step forward, but Ah Jiu spoke coldly: "Throw them out."

Those three words carried an imposing aura, scaring the two into a slight tremble.

Wu Lihong opened his mouth as he watched Wufu and the others go inside the mansion, the heavy doors closing, involuntarily making his heart skip.

"Leave, or you’ll be treated as assassins," Yuan Ye said coldly.

Assassins? Who could bear such a charge?

The two turned pale, retreating two steps in tandem.

"Aren’t you leaving yet?"

Another stern shout, and the two quickly departed, reaching the corner, where the woman angrily shook off Wu Lihong’s hand and said furiously, "Look at you, useless man, even your own daughter won’t acknowledge you."

Wu Lihong pursed his lips.

"Useless," the woman pinched his hand, stomped in anger, and left. Despite being the closest blood relation, she wouldn’t even cast him a glance.

Wu Lihong looked at the walls of the Princess Mansion with a bitter heart.

Do you regret it?

How could one not regret it!

...

"Don’t be angry," Ah Jiu said, looking at Wufu.

Wufu looked at him quizzically, "Why would I be angry?"

"That person came, didn’t you?"

Wufu gave a shallow smile, "I have nothing to do with him, why should I be angry over someone irrelevant?"

Ah Jiu shrugged.

"Don’t think too much, I’ve invited Wen Congrui to come, would you care to meet him?" Wufu said.

"Would he want to see me? He..."

"What?" Wufu seemed puzzled.

"It’s nothing," Ah Jiu laughed lightly, saying nothing further.

Just then, Purple Jade walked in to say Wen Congrui had arrived.

Wufu teased her son, handed him to the wet nurse, and changed into a new outfit before going to the Floral Hall to welcome the guest.

After several years apart, Wen Congrui looked much the same except for some beard on his chin.

Seeing Wufu and Ah Jiu entering, Wen Congrui stood up and bowed to them.

"It’s been a long time."

"It’s been a long time."

Both sat at the head seats, Wufu looked at Wen Congrui and smiled, "I thought Fourth Master Wen wouldn’t come."

Wen Congrui smiled lightly, "Many wish to enter this door but cannot. To be invited by the Regent King and the Princess Consort, how dare a commoner refuse? If outsiders knew, they’d likely laugh at my ignorance."

"You’re overthinking," Wufu’s smile was gentle. "Even Liu Bei visited Zhuge Liang thrice, yet we haven’t come personally but invited you here, showing one less layer of sincerity."

Wen Congrui raised an eyebrow, looking her, waiting for more.

Wufu said, "Back when I left Nanyue, you asked me whether we would stand on this land again? Now, we are here. I’m grateful we didn’t become enemies with Wen the Great Talent."

Wen Congrui felt a stir in his heart.

Wufu stood up, gave him a deep bow, "I know you have ambitions too. I wonder if you’re willing to contribute to a peaceful era?"
