Chapter 1194: Corpse Ghost Immortal

Chapter 1194: Corpse Ghost Immortal

When he heard the term Earth Malevolent Qi, Qin Sang immediately knew Tan Hao had found the right person.

Qin Sang had seen many corpse refinement techniques. Among those methods that refined corpses by absorbing Earth Malevolent Qi, the Heavenly Yin Corpse Art was utterly unique. It was the most obvious identifying trait.

Since the man is a rogue cultivator, it seems like the Heavenly Corpse Sect’s inheritance in the Sin Abyss has likely already been severed. Most likely, the man discovered the ruins of the Heavenly Corpse Sect somewhere, just as I once did, and obtained the secret technique there... Qin Sang thought.

That possibility was hardly surprising.

Through the channels of the Two-Domain Alliance, Qin Sang had long gathered intelligence about the sects within the Sin Abyss. He had never found any sect that could be connected to the Heavenly Corpse Sect.

Tan Hao had been quite lucky to encounter such a person.

"What else did you discover?" Qin Sang asked.

"The captured prisoners knew very little about him. They only knew that he called himself the Corpse Ghost Immortal. When he appeared near Jinhen Mountain, he was already a Golden Core expert. As for where he came from, no one could say," Tong Jinshan said.

Recalling the events of that time, Tong Jinshan continued, "Daoist Tan took the Corpse Ghost Immortal’s relics. He must have continued investigating afterward, but he never mentioned anything to us. I do not know whether he uncovered any further information."

Corpse Ghost Immortal. A mere Golden Core cultivator, yet he dared to assume such a grand title. Qin Sang thought.

Qin Sang snorted inwardly. "After Tan Hao left, he never sent back any news?"

"No," Tong Jinshan sighed. "When he bid farewell to this junior back then, I already suspected he intended to go to the Sin Abyss. I tried hard to persuade him otherwise, but he insisted on going. Once he left, he vanished without a trace..."

Tan Yi’en’s expression darkened.

He knew his father had only just formed his Golden Core. Though that already made him a formidable figure in the cultivation world, Sin Abyss was the enemy’s stronghold. With no news for so long, the chances were that his father had already met with misfortune.

After asking several more questions and finding that Tong Jinshan knew little else, Qin Sang rewarded him with some items and had Tan Yi’en escort him out.

"Senior Uncle..." When Tan Yi’en returned, he seemed hesitant to speak.

Qin Sang glanced at him. "Regarding your father, I will find a way to investigate. For now, the most important matter for you is preparing to form your Golden Core. Even with the Malevolent Demonic Pill, success cannot be guaranteed. Remain at Sandi’e Stronghold for the time being. Experiencing battles will temper you."

He dismissed fat chicken and Tan Yi’en.

Returning to the quiet room, Qin Sang pondered the matter. "Corpse Ghost Immortal... Jinhen Mountain... The information is still far too little! A Golden Core rogue cultivator should have had at least some reputation back then. But so many years have passed, and the world has changed. Who still remembers a Golden Core cultivator from a century ago? Trying to uncover this man’s identity or locate Tan Hao is like searching for a needle in a haystack."

Sending the younger disciples into Sin Abyss would be nothing but sending them to their deaths. Qin Sang would have to investigate personally, yet even then there was no guarantee he would find anything.

Within Sin Abyss, every cultivator was a soldier, and they possessed strange methods like the Nether Crystal Tower. If he encountered a Spiritual Infant cultivator there, Qin Sang believed his own safety would likely still be assured with all his methods. But if his identity were exposed, infiltrating Sin Abyss again would become extremely difficult.

Qin Sang held little hope of finding Tan Hao. With no news for so long, the likely outcome was already clear.

Tan Jie and Tan Hao were brothers. One had willingly become a test subject for a devilish art, sacrificing himself to grant his brother a slim chance at survival. The other had carried his living-dead brother and spent his entire life searching for a way to awaken him.

Their brotherly bond had been deep. They had both been willing to die for the other, and perhaps that could be called a fitting end.

Even though the cultivation world was cruel, it had never lacked the shining light of genuine emotion.

Qin Sang sighed softly. After some thought, he decided to consult Senior Sister Qingjun.

Several days later, after speaking with her, Qin Sang received a geomantic map she had personally drawn during her travels in Sin Abyss. The map recorded the routes she had taken and the observations she had made.

Qingjun reminded him that at the time, Sin Abyss had not yet launched its campaign. The situation now was entirely different, and much of the information she had gathered was likely already outdated.

Moreover, Qin Sang did not possess Qingjun’s abilities. Her disguise techniques came from her understanding of puppetry and could only be used on herself. She could offer him no assistance in that regard.

"Most of Sin Abyss’s experts are currently concentrated here. If I depart now and infiltrate Sin Abyss, the chances of being discovered will be lower. However, the ebony sword will finish devouring the wood within a few months. Waiting a little longer would not hurt. By then, with the ebony sword and the Seven-Yin-Soul Killing Array, if I encounter a Spiritual Infant cultivator, I might even be able to kill them and prevent any information from leaking..." Qin Sang had already decided to personally investigate Sin Abyss.

The corpse refinement techniques of the Heavenly Corpse Sect were extremely distinctive and represented a rapid path of cultivation. Qin Sang had benefited greatly from them before. If he could locate the Heavenly Corpse Sect’s inheritance, he might be able to further develop along the path of corpse cultivation.

Bai’s advancement remained far in the distant future. Even if Bai could comprehend something from the Corpse Soul Orb, it was still uncertain whether it could be applied to Mute Girl.

As for Qin Sang’s agreement with the Two-Domain Alliance, killing a single Spiritual Infant cultivator from Sin Abyss would be more than enough to repay the Golden Sinking Wood. Even if he left now, they would have no grounds for complaint.

In the following days, Qin Sang both studied the Seven-Yin-Soul Killing Array in preparation for the journey and gathered as much information about Sin Abyss as possible.

Before he realized it, two months had passed.

One day, as Qin Sang was cultivating in the quiet chamber, a streak of light suddenly flew inside. He caught it and read the message within, looking somewhat surprised.

"The Snake King is visiting?" After thinking for a moment, Qin Sang personally went outside the grand array to receive him.

"Long time no see. How has my in-law been?" The Snake King offered a fist-and-palm salute with a smile, his tone carrying a hint of teasing.

Qin Sang could not help but laugh. A month earlier, the white crane and Yue’er had held their wedding in Thousand-Mountain Bamboo Sea. Although Qin Sang had not returned, he had communicated with the Snake King about the matter and had sent fat chicken back with gifts.

The fat chicken had reported that Yue’er now followed the white crane everywhere, and the white crane had become extremely well-behaved.

"Please come in!" Qin Sang welcomed him warmly.

They returned to the quiet room and sat facing each other. The Snake King glanced around at the rather simple furnishings and sighed with emotion. "Perhaps it is precisely because you live with such austere discipline that you have achieved so much. Back then, Qianji still refused to admit defeat, but now it is obvious you showed him mercy. He had already exhausted all his supernatural abilities, yet it only forced you to use nine out of twelve of your devilish banners. Your life-bound supernatural ability had not even been used..."

Qin Sang knew the devilish banners and the Lightning Control Technique could not be concealed.

However, they had clearly misunderstood something and assumed the Lightning Control Technique was his life-bound supernatural ability.

Qin Sang simply let the misunderstanding stand. After offering a few modest remarks, he asked the Snake King about the purpose of his visit.

The Snake King’s expression turned serious. "I will not beat around the bush! When Qianji and I insisted on obtaining your spiritual insect, it was because we suspected it was the Sky-Eyed Butterfly. We hoped to use it to break an ancient barrier and explore a cave dwelling that is suspected to belong to an ancient great demon. Since Qianji lost the wager, the matter of the spiritual insect need not be mentioned again. Do you have the time to accompany us personally on this journey?"

The Snake King spoke directly and plainly.

"An ancient great demon’s cave dwelling?" Qin Sang was taken aback. "May I ask where this cave dwelling is located?"

He suddenly realized something. After advancing, the Sky-Eyed Butterfly’s ability to break barriers had become even stronger. No wonder the Snake King had clung so stubbornly to the matter before.

"Sin Abyss!"

"The territory of Sin Abyss is bigger than Tianxing Highland..." Qin Sang said.

The Snake King shook his head slightly and spoke in a deep voice. "Not somewhere else. I mean the very source of the name ‘Sin Abyss’ itself. The massive abyssal rift that runs through most of Sin Abyss. That cave dwelling lies deep within that abyss!"
