Chapter 1204: The Demon Kings Appear

Chapter 1204: The Demon Kings Appear

The tremors became more and more frequent. Each one was more violent than the last.

"The strongest tremor is about to arrive!" the Daoist with the hat said in a deep voice. True essence surged wildly from his palm as he activated the array. The white-haired elder did the same.

The other cultivators assisted the two grandmasters and likewise did not dare relax. The wall of light above the hole suddenly brightened, becoming incomparably solid.

In the next moment...

Boom! Everyone felt as if their minds had been struck by a heavy hammer!

A formless fluctuation suddenly arose within the hole, bursting out of the darkness and slamming viciously into the wall of light.

The light wall dimmed for an instant.

The tremendous impact transmitted outward, and the entire Heavenly Scar shook. The cultivators swayed with it, yet they held their ground and continued channeling the array.

The tremor came quickly and vanished just as quickly. The light wall remained intact and brightened again in the blink of an eye.

But the disturbance was far from over. A second impact followed immediately, then a third, a fourth...

Before long, they were almost merging together, leaving everyone no time to catch their breath. It was as if some incomparably violent power was raging inside Abyssal Ruin, trying to burst out of the hole.

Under the combined efforts of the group, the wall of light formed by the array firmly covered the hole, keeping the fluctuations sealed below.

Yet the effects of the tremors still spread outward. Space itself seemed to show signs of instability, while the spiritual qi had become wildly chaotic, forming a storm comparable to a small Spirit Tide that battered the surroundings.

Time passed slowly. No one knew when the tremors would finally end.

Just then, north of the entrance to Abyssal Ruin, within a narrow stone fissure, three figures silently appeared and slowly drifted down from above.

The storm created by the tremors reached this place as well. Chaotic spiritual qi roared in all directions, throwing everything into disorder.

Around the three figures lingered a wisp of azure qi. Whenever the storm rushed toward them, that azure qi merely swayed lightly, and the turbulence slipped past on either side, unable to touch them at all.

The source of the azure qi was the azure banner floating before one of them.

This man wore white robes and had an upright, refined, strikingly handsome appearance.

A small square azure banner danced before him. On one side of the banner were painted clusters of azure clouds, while the other side constantly shifted, making its pattern impossible to discern.

"It's all thanks to Daoist Lu’s Ten-Thousand-Li Azure Cloud Banner, otherwise we would have needed far more effort to silently block the Spirit Tide and slip in here..." One of the figures beside him sent a flattering voice transmission to the white-robed man controlling the banner. Evidently, this cultivator’s surname was Lu.

The one who had spoken looked strange, half human and half snake. It was the Snake King!

On the other side of Daoist Lu stood a thin young man. His pupils were a pure icy blue, his gaze gloomy and sinister, and his ears resembled fan-shaped flesh membranes. He was clearly not human.

This youth was a Cold Lizard that had attained the Dao, a Transformation Realm great demon. His Dharma name was also Cold Lizard.

Yet Daoist Lu was actually human, and his aura was no weaker than the Snake King’s.

The reason these three had come was to explore an ancient great demon’s cave dwelling. They had not just arrived. They had waited nearby for nearly a month, specifically for the tremors in Abyssal Ruin to appear.

"Why be so modest, Daoist Snake King? I do not believe you lack even this much ability." Daoist Lu chuckled and turned his gaze toward the depths of the fissure. "Without Daoist Cold Lizard's guidance, even I would not have seen that there was an ancient barrier here. No wonder the Sin Abyss cultivators pass by this place every day without noticing anything.

"When Sin God Palace trembles, only the first few waves are violent enough to cover the fluctuations from us breaking the barrier. Once those pass and they regain their senses, deceiving everyone will not be so easy. If we alert those two old fellows and draw the grand array down on us, we will have no choice but to flee in disgrace.

"If we fail this time, we will have to wait another half year for the next tremor. And if, during that time, Sin Abyss withdraws its troops and those old Spiritual Infant bastards all return, then we can only keep waiting, perhaps until Sin God Palace emerges before we have another chance."

The great demon cave dwelling they sought was actually near Abyssal Ruin, no wonder they were being so cautious.

"If it really comes to that, I will definitely go to Ziwei Palace." The Snake King shook his head.

There was no need to think about which was more important, Ziwei Palace or this place. He let out a faint sigh. "It's a pity Daoist Ming Yue was unwilling to take the risk. Otherwise, with Daoist Ming Yue’s Sky-Eyed Butterfly, breaking the ancient barrier would have been foolproof."

Cold Lizard sneered. "Is there not a saying among humans that every person has his own ambitions? If he looks down on the treasures of an ancient great demon, can we force him? The methods we painstakingly gathered for breaking barriers are not much worse than the Sky-Eyed Butterfly."

As he spoke, Cold Lizard's figure flashed, and he flew into the stone fissure. In his hand was a beast hide from some unknown spirit beast. He gave it a light shake toward the stone wall.

At once, the shadow of a massive ancient vine quietly appeared on the stone wall. Its top extended out from within the wall, as thick as a Jiao, coiling downward.

The vine phantom was both real and unreal. It only flickered faintly and already seemed on the verge of shattering.

The Snake King’s expression grew solemn. "Are you certain the great demon’s cave dwelling is hidden within Abyssal Ruin?"

"I am eighty to ninety percent confident. This ancient vine grows out of the void. If not Abyssal Ruin, then where else could it be?" Cold Lizard nodded. "It is said that ever since Sin God Palace and Ziwei Palace began emerging earlier again and again, some barriers and seals within Abyssal Ruin that used to be absolutely impossible to break have either shattered under the tremors or become weakened and loosened. Sin Abyss has already plundered quite a few benefits because of it. I am worried that if we delay too long, the Sin Abyss will discover this cave dwelling."

"If it truly connects to Abyssal Ruin, then once we seize control of this passage, we can also take a share of the spoils. But it is too early to speak of that now. If we alert something inside Abyssal Ruin, that will become another major problem. Be careful, both of you." As he spoke, Daoist Lu flicked his sleeve and summoned eighty-one glittering golden needles, each only three cun long. It was precisely a set of astras designed specifically for breaking barriers.

Cold Lizard opened his mouth and spat out a blue bead. Inside it, snowflakes drifted through what looked like a blizzard world. Amid the chaotic flurry, those snowflakes gradually condensed into the exact same vine phantom as the one on the stone wall, transforming the ancient vine barrier and seeking a method to break it.

The Snake King’s actions were the most unusual of all.

He first took out bottle after bottle of spiritual liquid in different colors. With a motion of his hand, he drew them together, and they fused in mid-air into a brilliant multicolored bead, which he then flicked into his brow.

The flesh at his brow split open, and the bead embedded itself there, as if he had opened a heavenly eye.

The three each displayed their own supernatural abilities, all of them secret arts and treasures for breaking barriers. Then their figures flashed and landed on one of the ancient vine’s leaves.

The vine phantom rippled and shattered, and the three figures also dissolved like water.

Afterward, occasional fluctuations arose without cause in this patch of space, but they were concealed by the tremors of Abyssal Ruin.

At Heavenly Corpse Sect’s headquarters, Qin Sang was sitting cross-legged in the hall, fully focused on comprehending the Seven-Yin-Soul Killing Array.

Suddenly, without the slightest warning, a wave surged upward. The divine protective aura around Qin Sang flashed as he shot high into the air, his face filled with surprise as he looked at the suddenly turbulent water below.

He had been comprehending sword techniques here and refining the ebony sword. Everything had remained calm the entire time. This was the first time anything like this had happened.

Just as Qin Sang was feeling uncertain, waves began piling over one another, and the sealing power within the water started trembling violently as well.

Qin Sang discovered that the source was the sealed space!

In an instant, monstrous waves rose to the heavens, and the entire hidden realm shook without end.
