Chapter 1235: Encounter
Qin Sang and the fat chicken were both startled.
They had deliberately avoided the wind-and-lightning mountain and had done nothing, yet they had still provoked the blood lightning.
Qin Sang reacted instantly. Wrapping the fat chicken in true essence, he fled far away in a flash. However, the lightning clung to him, pursuing relentlessly. No matter how he changed direction, he could not shake it off.
Seeing this, Qin Sang quickly understood. He immediately withdrew his spiritual consciousness and began shifting his position rapidly.
Whoosh, whoosh... The blood-red lightning finally abandoned the pursuit and retreated. Residual lightning force lingered in the air like scattered blood flowers before vanishing in an instant.
The fat chicken was still shaken.
When the lightning had pursued him, he had felt as though all the blood in his body was about to freeze. His body had stiffened, locked in place by the lightning’s force. Had he been struck, he would likely have been injured.
And if the lightning possessed other strange abilities, it would not have been as simple as mere injury.
He turned to look at Qin Sang, unsure whether it had been his own fault or something Qin Sang had done that had triggered the lightning.
Qin Sang pondered briefly, then transmitted his voice, "Follow behind me. Focus entirely on activating the Lightning Thought Orb to sense your mother’s location. Do nothing else."
"Yes!" The fat chicken understood that rescuing his mother here depended entirely on Qin Sang, and he obeyed without question.
Qin Sang glanced at the wind-and-lightning mountain and set off again, this time keeping an even greater distance.
He probed with his spiritual consciousness. This time, the blood lightning did not react.
"As expected, this blood-red lightning is peculiar. It can detect spiritual consciousness. Even without direct contact, approaching it will trigger pursuit. However, its sensing range is limited. As long as I restrain my spiritual consciousness and keep my distance, it will be fine. The warnings left by the predecessors were not without reason..." As he moved, Qin Sang continued testing the rules within Blood Lake.
Gradually, he gained some understanding and began to pick up speed.
"Master, that ahead seems to be one of the strange mountains marked on the fragment map," the fat chicken said.
Half an hour later, Qin Sang and the fat chicken spotted a stone mountain. It rose straight up and down like a massive pillar, extremely conspicuous, making it an ideal landmark. The map depicted just such a mountain.
The scenery here was entirely different from the wind-and-lightning mountain.
There was no blood-red lightning or yin wind. Instead, the mountain was covered with blood-colored trees. These trees rooted themselves in the cracks of the rock and grew horizontally outward, resembling countless spikes protruding from the mountain. The entire mountain looked like a giant spiked club.
The trees themselves were as hard as metal, and their leaves resembled serrated iron plates. Blood-red clouds lingered around them. Anyone caught here would suffer their flesh being torn apart while their soul was corroded.
Qin Sang took out the map, located the position of this mountain, and examined the surrounding terrain, confirming it.
"According to the map, the interior of Blood Lake is considered north. We landed in the southwest region. From here, if we proceed straight east and make two passes back and forth, we should be able to explore most of the outer perimeter..." Qin Sang proceeded according to his plan.
The fat chicken followed closely behind, focusing on activating the Lightning Thought Orb, but unfortunately, there was still no response.
Qin Sang silently recorded everything he saw. In the outer regions, progress was relatively easy. These dangerous formations, like the wind-and-lightning mountain, were spaced apart, leaving relatively safe zones in between.
However, this only applied to the outer regions.

In a region filled with jagged rocks, a massive pit spanning several hundred zhang lay hidden among them. Its depths were unfathomable and mysterious.
A Golden Core cultivator was descending slowly into the pit, a treasure mirror hovering above his head.
Bang! Bang! From time to time, blood-condensed tentacles emerged from within the pit, lashing at him with immense force.
His expression remained calm. The treasure mirror above his head emitted shifting multicolored light, forming a soft barrier that neutralized the force of the tentacles, allowing him to withstand the attacks without being breached.
Though the blood tentacles were formidable, this person had already set up a concealment barrier at the entrance of the pit. Even if someone passed nearby, they would not notice anything unusual.
While he focused entirely on battling the endless tentacles within the pit, he remained unaware that outside, a man and a beast had arrived, observing everything.
They were none other than Qin Sang and the fat chicken.
Although the barrier he had set up was exquisite, it could not block the Sky Eyes.
He was the second person Qin Sang had encountered. Both cultivators Qin Sang had met so far were Golden Core cultivators. Qingjun and the others had likely already moved deeper ahead.
These people clearly have guidance from someone knowledgeable. Their objectives are precise. Not all of them have come here to die. It seems like all sides have concealed information. None of them are completely ignorant about Blood Lake. After observing for a moment, Qin Sang nodded inwardly.
After a brief glance, he withdrew his gaze and moved on. These Golden Core cultivators knew too little. Capturing them would be of no use.
From his observations, the barriers within this pit were not weak. Even if he personally took action, it would require considerable effort. He had no intention of wasting time here.
After searching for quite a while, the Lightning Thought Orb still showed no reaction.
Qin Sang estimated that if the Lightning-Devouring Falcon demon king was still alive, she was unlikely to be trapped in the outer regions of Blood Lake.
If it was trapped deeper inside, it might be caught in the crossfire of battles between the two factions, which would be dangerous. Qin Sang did not wish to take the lead, but he also could not arrive too late.
Continuing forward, Qin Sang occasionally tested the power of ancient barriers along the way.
After traveling for some time, just as he was about to pass between two mountains, his expression suddenly changed. He urgently ordered, "Return to the ring immediately."
Hearing this, the fat chicken was shocked. Thinking danger had appeared, he quickly scanned the surroundings, yet everything seemed calm.
Blood qi lingered atop the mountains on both sides, and blood lightning struck intermittently, but they were still far away and unlikely to attack suddenly.
Even so, he did not dare hesitate. He knew his master’s abilities far surpassed his own and that there must be a reason. He quickly withdrew the Lightning Thought Orb and hid within the Primordial Unity Ring.
The ring on Qin Sang’s wrist flashed. With a flick of his sleeve, his figure vanished into thin air.
Concealing himself, Qin Sang cautiously activated the Sky Eyes and gazed through the mountains toward a distant peak.
It was a barren mountain, desolate and covered in scattered rocks, with nothing else present. No one could be seen.
Yet in Qin Sang’s vision, there was a subtle difference. On a protruding stone platform, there was a faint white glow, invisible to the naked eye, clearly something unusual.
Seeing the white glow, Qin Sang felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity. Within the glow, everything was chaotic.
With the help of the Sky-Eyed Butterfly, Qin Sang enhanced his ability and finally faintly discerned the astra emitting the white light. He also discovered that within the glow stood a figure.
"It’s him!" Qin Sang revealed a look of surprise. Before he could clearly see the person inside, he immediately ordered the Sky-Eyed Butterfly to withdraw its ability, so that he would not be discovered.
He would never forget that astra. It was Dongyang Bo’s life-bound astra, the Vajra Bangle!
Back in Ziwei Palace, Dongyang Bo had used the Vajra Bangle to capture him into the bronze hall and threaten Chenyan face-to-face. If not for the Blood Defilement Divine Light, Qin Sang might not have escaped that calamity.
He did not meet up with Senior Sister and the others. What is he doing here? Qin Sang thought.
Qin Sang had originally not intended to act, believing his chances of success were low. Yet he had not expected to encounter Dongyang Bo here, at the outer region of Blood Lake.
